...

His head felt like it was knocked by boulders. He can’t stop listening to the ringing inside his head that pushes him to squint his eyes as he walks to the stairs in his house. He had to hold the railings seeing his vision was becoming pretty blurry and his shaky legs due to the pain coursing down his body made his movement slow.

When Sandro’s feet touch the ground, he walks slowly towards the living room when he hears the sounds of people crying there. He had to lean on the wall for support and the further he walks, the louder the sobbing becomes.

His chest feels tight and chills run down his spine. He was terrified of what the outcome will be. Waking up without his wife and medicines around him made him confuse and scared.

Selena…

Where was Selena?

He could barely remember the last time he had seen her.

The only memory he had of Selena was her wearing her beautiful white dress and her beautiful black hair falls behind her in soft waves.

Smiles that would brighten even the darkest of his days and eyes that shimmer every time she sees him as if he was her whole world.

God knows she was his and making her his wife was the best thing he has ever done in his God-forsaken life. He had spent years trying to prove to his cold, domineering father of his ability as a man, as an heir, even when he was treated badly by him, he knew what he was going to do in life and that is to make sure he was accepted but meeting Selena changes everything.

With her, he learn to accept himself just the way he is and none of what his own father thinks of him matters. She gave him confidence and the will to face his father, letting him know that his opinion of him don't matter anymore.

Why he decide to be a father but ended up becoming a shitty one, he has no idea but the moment Sandro has chosen Selena to be a part of his life, he knew whatever he had with his father was over. Guess what? He didn't even care.

He even celebrated the whole damn thing.

Yet now, everything from his happy thoughts and happy expectation and dreams of what he was suppose to share with Selena right after they got married is slowly crumbling, right in front of him.

Worst part? He was defenceless.

The bright light from his living room made him grimaced and he had to raise his palm to cover the light until his vision becomes clearer and the image in front of him made his blood runs cold.

He froze to his feet and his mouth opens but no words came out. Silent tears run down his cheek and he felt like his heart was ripped out from his chest.

“Selena…”

In the middle of the room, where he would lay down, facing the fireplace with Selena after their sweet lovemaking was a black coffin. Glistening under the yellow light from the glass chandelier above them, his precious wife…

His Selena was lying in there, wearing the exact wedding gown she had worn that morning and her eyes were closed. The lips he had teased so much is now pale, so was her face and…. She was dead.

No other word to describe it.

His wife was dead and she now lays in the coffin, right in the middle of what should be the home they would share as husband and wife.

People around him, his mother, her mother, and all their friends and family were standing around the coffin. Sobbing and painful noises could be heard coming out of them.

Sandro’s eyes only fall on her and he walks toward her. Holding the edge of the coffin and gazing at her hair that spread out around her head like a halo.

He cups her cheek and more tears fall until it hits her pale white cheek.

“Mom?” He asks his mother who was across from him, never taking his gaze off of Selena.

“Yes, baby?” Amelia replied in a sad voice.

“Who is this, mom?”

Amelia frowned. She had thought she had heard wrongly but no.

“Wh…what? Sandro, that’s Selena. Your wife, baby.” She replied and went up to him so she could brush his back.

“Selena?” He squinted his brow.

“Why is she laying inside this coffin? Why she looks like that?”

She looks up at him to see his face but there was no expression. Not any more and he didn’t look sad nor he was angry.

“San…Sandro, baby? Selena’s gone, sweetheart.”

“Gone? What do you mean by gone?” He gave a short laugh but tears roll down his cheek and the hand that was cupping Selena’s cheek started to shiver.

“She’s dead, sweetheart. Your Selena is dead. She won’t be coming home.” She bit her lip to control her sob.

“How can she be dead, mom? We just got married. She can’t be dead. She cannot leave me…” The sound of his voice becomes smaller with every word.

“Sandro… she’s dea_”

“She is not dead!” He screamed at her. He looks up, panting and chest heaving as he stares at his mother.

“Sandro…”

“She is not dead! Selena is not dead!”

His screams starting to make everyone in the room panic and when he stare back at Selena, he crumbles into a sob.

“Selena…. baby, please. Please don’t leave me. Don’t do this to me… I love you… I love you so much. Don’t go…”

“Please calm down, Sandro…” Other people try to calm him down but he starts to push them away and his hold on her getting stronger.

“Sandro… Sandro..wake up baby..”

His mother’s said. He looks up at her and frowns.

“Wake up, baby. You need to wake up.” She continues and the room around him starts to disappear, making Sandro slowly opening his tired eyes and sit up quickly on his bed. Covered in sweats and he hissed in pain as his movement disturbs his bruised ribs.

HE looked around him and nothing but bright light from his bedroom and his mother seating beside him.

She looks so worried for him and gently placed down the food platter on the chest next to his bed.

“Are you alright, baby? Was it the bad dream again?”

He slowly nodded. Cup his forehead and brush it down his face. Trying to calm himself and assuring himself that it was just a bad dream. It is not real.

“Yeah… something stupid. I ugh... I don't want to talk about it. How is the investigation, mom?”

He asks, hope flickers in his eyes and it made Amelia sad.

“Did..did they found her? Is she still alive?” He asks again and this time, he even moves closer to his mother and never keeps his eyes away from her.

Amelia shook her head with a long sigh.

“I’m sorry baby. I don’t know. The reports are still the same. No one knows how Selena disappeared that day.”

Sandro sucked in a deep breath.

“It’s been 3 fucking months, mom! How can she just disappear without a trace? Someone must’ve seen her!”

“Sandro…”

“No. Don’t Sandro me. It hurts, mom. It hurts that I had to be separated from her this way. It hurts that I don’t even know if she is alive or dead. What if she’s looking for me? What if she’s hurt now? Oh God, mom… do you think that she’s alive?”

Amelia only stares at his son. She seriously didn’t know what to say to him. Lying would help to ease his pain but if she did that, he would be hopeful and that would end up hurting him even more.

Her poor daughter-in-law had disappeared from the hospital after their accident. Both she and her son was hurt badly but it was her that had suffered most of the impacts. Her skull was cracked and Selena had lost so much blood, she had been in a coma for almost a week before she was gone from the hospital.

Like her son, Sandro was also in a coma but when he woke up, Selena was already gone, and even now, Amelia’s head was filled with Sandro's hollow scream at knowing his beloved bride was gone.

No one knows whether she was still alive or dead. It breaks her heart that even Selena’s family seems to be accepting of her disappearance. Amelia barely speaks to them and when Selena disappeared, they too barely meet up with them and are only present until the day Sandro woke up.

Why they became so distant, she had no idea but she wasn’t going to let that be. She will find out for sure about what had happened to make them act that way.

“I...I don’t know, baby. I can’t guarantee anything…”

Tears pool in Sandro’s eyes. His fist rested below his heart but Amelia held his hand and made sure he was looking at her.

“Know this, Sandro. I will do everything in my power to find her."

"You said the same thing before...you told me that you will find her. It's the only reason I'm still lying here even when my wife is missing. Good God, thinking about what I'm doing is killing me, mom. Her family barely talks to me. They must've hated me for not protecting her. I need to go and ..."

"No! No, baby. You are not at fault! Her loss is not because of you. Remember that you were badly hurt too. You were in a coma like her. There was nothing we let alone you of all people could do. Never ever blame yourself like this. You stay here and get full rest. I promise you that we will find Selena. Leave this matter to your mother. I will find a way. I promise.”

"You sure about this mom? I can look for her too. She is my wife after all. My love..my ..."

"I will go. You won't do anything. Leave this to me. In fact, I have something to do after this. We will find Selena for sure. Have faith, baby. Have faith."
