Tawny Matthews thought that Leonard Roberts married her, perhaps he would have some feelings for her. But from the beginning to the end, he was cold and indifferent, and she could only endure that he always thought of someone else. Three years passed, and she felt that she could not expect or hope for this marriage relationship, so she decided to leave, leave this place, and start a new life. Five years later, they met again, standing opposite each other, but neither recognized the other. He did not recognize her because she had changed so much. Tawny seemed to have become a completely different person. She became colder and more decisive, and her eyes looked at him like those of a stranger. Why did she not recognize him? Was it because she was now his ex-wife?
View MoreThe gloomy sky left a gray color in Tawny Matthews's eyes. She stared at the divorce papers before her, her heart breaking into many pieces.
Three years was so short, but also so long. So short that when she closed her eyes, she could see how boring her marriage was. So long that the loneliness and resentment she had endured for many years had piled up like a mountain, weighing down on her panting heart. It turned her into a mobile iceberg, only knowing how to walk, stand, and lie down, but no longer knowing how to cry, laugh, be sad or happy.
That period was enough for Tawny to understand that today she was determined to sign the divorce papers, ending the days of suffering and despair.
Two streams of hot tears rolled down her cold cheeks, Tawny painfully looked up at everything around the empty room, the place she still considered her home, her nest.
But her husband, Leonard, never thought so. To him, this place was hell, a place where he was imprisoned in freedom, a place filled with lies and betrayal. He had never considered her his wife, to him, she was no different from his sworn enemy.
Holding the divorce papers and walking to the office, Tawny trembled and knocked on the door several times.
From inside came a cold voice as if it had just returned from hell.
"Come in."
The door opened slightly, Tawny mustered up all her courage and walked straight to Leonard's desk. She placed the signed divorce papers in front of him, tried to swallow the tears that were welling up, and then choked out:
"We're divorced. I've signed it, I'll move out right away."
Leonard's cold face completely extinguished the last bit of hope in Tawny. His calmness broke her heart. His indifferent, emotionless gaze as he looked at the divorce papers left her speechless.
"Up to you."
His words were very gentle, but when they reached her ears, they were like a bolt of lightning that struck her head.
What did she get in the end after three years of living together?
Was it indifference, coldness, or the words “Up to you” coming from his mouth?
So what else could she expect from him? She turned away with a painful heart, not even looking back. It seemed like her heart had cooled to ashes, her heart was pierced by thousands of needles, and her emotions had become numb over the years.
She thought she was used to his indifference, but in fact, she was just trying to endure.
And she also knew pain, knew sadness.
Slamming the door shut, Tawny collapsed on the cold floor, covering her face and sobbing. The cry tore her heart apart, like thousands of knives stabbing the fragile heart in her left chest.
Even though it was just an arranged marriage, Tawny had never neglected her duties as a wife in the past three years. She always tried her best to take care of the housework.
Even though he was cold to her, she still loved him very much. Even though he never touched a bite of food, she still prepared three meals a day. Even though he never looked her in the eye, she would smile every time she saw him appear.
Was it because she hadn't done well enough?
Why had he never paid her any attention?
Perhaps this marriage was a mistake from the start. The first look Leonard gave Tawny was indifference. Even as he held her hand and walked down the aisle, he still looked at her with that look. She would probably never forget it for the rest of her life.
Three years ago, when Leonard's family was on the verge of collapse, Leonard was forced to marry Tawny to save the family business. Later, Leonard's business was merged into Tawny's father's company, which Leonard always thought was a plot by them to usurp.
At that time, Leonard was considered a worthy opponent for his childhood friend Paige. After hearing that he was about to marry Tawny, she immediately went to see her. How did the conversation go when Tawny accidentally pushed Paige, causing her to fall from the bridge into the river?
Although Paige was saved later, Leonard still thought that it was Tawny who caused Paige to fall into the river. Therefore, he hated her very much, he spent more time with Paige than at home.
"Evil witch." That was the longest sentence he had ever said to Tawny.
Now that Tawny's family had gone bankrupt, Paige had returned from studying abroad, so Leonard wanted to divorce Tawny.
Tawny dragged her suitcase out of the house alone. She walked slowly on the street, her mind blank, not knowing where she was going.
Suddenly, someone shouted.
"Is that Leonard Roberts's wife?"
"Why is she carrying luggage? Did she divorce her husband and get kicked out of the house?"
"There's news."
Two reporters chased after Tawny.
"Miss Tawny, please wait a moment."
Tawny heard the voices of many people from behind, she turned her head and saw reporters running towards her.
The flashing lights made Tawny panic and couldn't avoid it.
"What do you want?"
"May I ask why you're dragging a suitcase on the street, what happened to you?"
"Just now, there was an announcement that Matthews Group went bankrupt, do you have any comments on this?"
"May I ask if you knew Miss Paige before?"
The questions kept coming up, giving Tawny's headache. "Please, I don't know anything, please don't ask me."
Tawny begged miserably, but these people didn't let her go. She ran away. She thought about running to the opposite street, wanting to escape from these two people. But disaster suddenly appeared. The Bugatti Veyron struck her like a lightning bolt.
The pure white dress was like a white butterfly fluttering in the air. Tawny suddenly thought of the words her mother said before she died, the cold voice of the man Leonard... everything was like a slow-motion tape but then suddenly disappeared.
The smell of blood woke everyone up, two reporters tried to record everything. Blood stained the white cloth like a wilted rose, life seemed to be slowly draining away.
"Damn it." In the sports car, the man wearing sunglasses hurriedly picked up Tawny who was lying on the ground, and rushed to the hospital.
Her eyes astound. "Goodness."His eyes were enthralled at her blush as he pressed a few kisses to her warm cheek. "Are we blushing, my love?" Her fingers tickling his neck as he giggled in her skin. "I don't blush, Emery." Tilting her head, his mouth pressed on hers. "Liar." Rising, she leaned against the footboard of the couch while patting the place beside her after keeping a cushion against the board. "Come here."Emery eyes softened, as Hatice found him beside her; keeping her cushion to her back, and draping the blanket over their legs, as his arm draped behind her on the couch where her head laid on his shoulder; their eyes gleaming at the flames of daylight in the hushed silence around them yet the chaos of nature aloud, made it relaxing in tranquility. "Do you miss home?" "I thought it was me." Hatice gave him a squinted stare, and Emery chuckled, reaching out to pinch her cheekbone with an adoring smile; it shone in the flames of daylight, "You're my breath, my Hatice," His
Her eyes were in awe at her husband's endearment. "No point!" Her voice slightly raised, and his eyes remained gentle; she knew to her sudden frustration, where it held the sadness of her moist eyes, "We only have a few days here, and now I'll be struggling with this, and everything is ruined already!" Slamming the mug on the table, Hatice leaned back with crossed arms as her abdomen ached, doubling her frustration and sadness as her lips twisted. "And I'm not in the state of listening to anything."Emery's eyes softened at her frown with a throb of enduring her pain: his understanding was intact to their remaining days getting spent in discomfort, where her voice raises weren't so insulting to him as it was yet another frustration of her pain; frustration and sadness which had happened before and now he was used to it, as Emery always gives her a space, right now too, without any words, Hatice felt his hand holding her cheeks from her chin side, leaning in to press a kiss on her crown. "I'll be in the room; call me if you need anyt
