CHAPTER 49

I was known for speaking my mind, but I should have been more careful with my words. Stefan was irritated by my remark, and his dark voice made me cower in the shadows. “Let me pass,” I told him when he suddenly blocked the door with his body.

“I don’t think this is right, Bethany. Please just go back to your room. My brother will be here in the morning and I don’t want him to overthink us. Please…,” he begged but at the same time, he shoved me away from his room.

“I am also begging you,” I stated, but instead of letting me in, he chose to step outside and gestured for me to get in. “Where are you going?” I inquired.

“None of your business,” he replied.

“Wait, Stefan!" I called his name before he abandoned me completely, and when he stopped walking, I dashed after him. As he came to a halt in his tracks, I bit my lower lip. “I don’t know how to say this without ruining my reputation but I am truly scared of the dark!”
