Chapter Two: When Love Turned Into Ashes

Isabella POV 

“No, “ I muttered, my voice cracking as I snapped out of daze back to my senses, my hands soiled with blood, with Casper lying in a pool.

My wolf took control of me, leading to the tragic death of the Alpha's brother, Casper.

Heat radiated over my skin as I leaned against the cupboard, a few inches from Casper's body.

My brows furrowed when I heard heavy footsteps approaching.

My face paled at the sound of the incoming footsteps.

Before I could process myself to do anything the door pushed open with a loud thud, and I saw Cassian, my mate, walking with a woman entangled in his arms, clutching him tightly, like a loving couple.

“ What just happened here ?” I heard a thin voice I had never heard in my entire life of living inside this pack.

Cassian's eyes caught a glimpse of bright red blood flowing like an ocean on the marble floor.

He gasped, staring at the lifeless body lying with dead eyes staring at him.

He was frozen in shock.

He rushed frantically to Casper's side, desperate to save him, but it was too late.

He grabbed my hand harshly, hovering over me like a crazy beast, while my back touched the wall.

“ You killed my brother. “Casper's voice made my stomach drop. The words exploded from his lips, burning with fury.

Casper's snarl crackled in the room. The flower vases by my bedside began to shake, a sign that something dangerous was coming.

“I don't know what happened, but it happened so fast, “ I tried to explain, my hands trembling.

I stuttered while not looking into his eyes. I was terrified to look into those eyes that were brimming with disdain towards me.

“ You did this bitch!“ His lips curled into a sneer roughly cupping my chin to look at him.

My heart sank as the words stung me like a whip biting into my skin and seeping into my bones.

Each of his words dripped with disdain and a wave of disappointment ran through me.

“Casper, he attacked me,he tried to rape me, “ I said, my throat becoming hoarse, his blood running cold, while his dark, soulless eyes bore into mine with brutality lurking beneath it.

“ Don't you fucking lie to me,” he growled, clawing his fingers into my tender skin, leaving bruises.

“ Ouch “ a whimper of pain tore through my lips.

“ Please stop, “ I begged in my cracking voice as he tugged my hair, my breath shaky, but he didn't listen.

I screamed at the top of my lungs, but then the smirk on his face made me flinch.

When it looked like I would die, he finally loosened his hold sending me flying before landing on the bare floor.

“I am your mate, you have to believe me.” I rolled my eyes to look at Cassian, but his glare was like a lethal poison chilling my bones.

“Do not pretend to be the Alpha's mate, “ the lady said, stepping forward, her eyes stern, dripping with venom.

“My mate? you just killed Casper,” he growled, his jaw tightened, but he was trying to suppress the anger brewing inside of him.

There were no feelings in his voice to be heard.

“I should kill you right now ”he took a step forward, my mind racing as he stared blankly at me.

“But from now on, you will just be a worthless slave, “he declared, his tone was flat, and I swallowed hard, exhaling sharply at his words.

I cried out as my heart felt as if it were being crushed.

“You are my mate, how could you do this to me ?” I asked with tears trickling down my face but he grinned widely.

“I am your mate, your future Luna,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady, my pulse beating wildly.

“That's my title, not yours, “ she held Cassian's hand, and, clutching on to him as she, backhanded me with a slap across the right side of my face.

“How dare you hit me?”I asked, her eyes staring straight into me with so much anger.

“Kneel, you little cur, and witness my power.,”She reached for the whip tightly thrust in her palm, swinging it with so much energy.

Who's this girl? I demanded my voice vibrated in the room as I dropped to my knees.

“Isn't it obvious Isabella?”She said with a smug look on her face, which made my heart jump.

“She is my new mate,” Cassian answered, pulling her into a swift kiss with his arms entangled around her neck.

My eyes widened as my mouth fell in shock.

“But I'm your mate” A frown settled on Cassian's face, his eyes twinkling with a wounded look.

“Not for long” she replied with a fake smile playing on her lips.

Tears filled my eyes as he pressed a kiss on her hair, his arms wrapped around her pulling her into his chest. He gave her a tender hug and I watched how beautiful they looked together.

“Cassian doesn't want you anymore,” she added, with a smug look purposely clutching on to him  

“I'm a big-time Alpha Isabella. I can't be seen with an orphan omega as my mate,” he spoke, his voice cold with his pupils dilated.

‘But Eliana here is a trueborn Alpha daughter. She is worthy of being with me” he declared ,his tone flat.

“ What do you mean?” I asked in a soft voice.

For years, I had been imagining my love life with Cassian but now my lips curled up in hatred.

Tears of humiliation pressed heavily in my eyes as my years of loving him were just a waste.

Suddenly, a figure erupted from the shadows and all heads turned.

It was Cassian's mother, Amelia.

“Greetings, Noble Eliana,” she spoke in an icy tone with a wide grin on her face.

“Daughter of the great Blood Claw Pack's Alpha,how thrilled I am to know that you will be Cassian Future Luna.” She said my stomach filled with dread as the shock was beginning to climb.

“Then what am I, Cassian?” I asked but he didn't spare a glance to look at me.

“You betrayed me,I am supposed to be Luna”. My head throbbed in pain as her golden eyes levelled in a way that they were cutting through me.

“Who do you think you are? Eliana is an Alpha's daughter” she spat out.

“You're just some stray we picked up you should be grateful for the roof over your head” she added patting Eliana's hand gently 

“What? I…” Before I could finish my sentence, her hand connected to my cheeks.

“A cur like you? Cassian won't choose a cur like you to be his Luna” she raised her eyebrows to look at me.

“Cassian, I am your mate. How can you stand there while they hurt me?”He narrowed his eyebrows, irritated.

“Cassian, have you forgotten the promises you made to me ?”My face twisted with pain as I managed to stand up on my weak feet ignoring the protest in my body.

“That was a long time ago,You and I are from completely two different worlds,” he said with no trace of emotion left.

“So you are the little virgin that Cassian mentioned,you must be Isabella,” Eliana groans out, disgust clear in her voice, but I held my breath.

“Look at you on the verge of tears” she taunted me. Her giggles were loud but Cassian stood there doing nothing.

I turned to Eliana and raised my hand to hit her, but Cassian's mother held my hand, shoving me against the wall.

“How dare you lay a hand on Noble Eliana? Be gone, Isabella, “ she screeched.

“Madam please, For ten years, Isabella has carried the family's burden and treated you like a mother,” I heard a voice behind me. It was my best friend Mia.

Mia was the only friend I had ever had since I was brought here.

“Silence” Amelia snapped, her voice echoing in the room.

“Worthless dogs like you have no place here no wonder the two of you are friends"

" Low-born omega, “ she sent a slap across Mia's face with tears streaming down her cheeks.

“Don't lay a hand on Mia” I yelled at the top of my voice.

“Isabella stood by you through all of your sickness, and she took care of you,” she said with tears slipping down her cheeks.

“Enough touching my woman is unforgivable that is my creed, “ Cassian spoke, which made my heart clench.

“In the Moon goddess name, I, Cassian Wolfhart, reject you, Isabella Beau, as my mate,” he declared.
