CHAPTER THREE

-Titania-

A powerful blow hit my face.

'Oh, sweet Goddess!'As I stumbled backward, I mentally grumbled and shook my head, suddenly seeing stars and black dots in my vision.

My knees weakened, and I immediately relied on my legs to support my weight. I was still dizzy and disoriented when I received another smack and a hard kick to the chest.

What the fucking shit!

There was a loud cracking sound inside my body, and then I flew into the cage wall. My back collided with the metal, and I collapsed to the floor in agony.

As I curled into a ball, the audience outside the cage shouted in exhilaration.

"Hurts!" I was wailing not because of the beatings I had received from my opponent, but because of the sorrow in my heart.

It was my grandfather's funeral that morning. The only nice person who ever made me feel wanted. Who took care of me after my mother rejected me and sent me to the villa? And, as Liz previously stated, he is my favorite old man.

Rather than attending the funeral, I spent the entire day preparing for a fight. If I did, I would undoubtedly be even more heartbroken.

My thoughts soon returned to the battle ring. My gaze was drawn to my opponent, who resembled a human made of hard rock.

It's a cage fight, just like I've always wanted. But Rocky Hammer seemed to be different from everyone else I'd fought before. He's bigger than them. More perilous.

"Summer, get up!" Mr. Sean, my handler growled. He's just outside the ring, a few meters away from me.

Under my clenched teeth, I groaned.

Seriously!

Maybe he should try fighting with someone like Rocky Hammer on occasion. He'd surely end up in the hospital with a single flick of his finger.

Shaking my head once again, I fixed my focus on the ring. I was about to get up when I felt myself being lifted off the ground and I yelped in surprise.

What the-

"Is this the 'Monster' you're all bragging about as the strongest underground fighter?" the giant roared, glaring at my bruised face from my upside-down position.

'Hell! 'I gulped hard as I saw on his face that he was going to kill me.'

Based on how he delivered his words and how his burning eyes had turned to slits, I knew he was going to end my life 'cause he desired to be the strongest underground fighter and take my title.

My teeth ground.

'What is the matter with these people nowadays? They were all against me. They're all out to murder me.' Nonetheless, I'm not the dreaded Monster for nothing. It would not be easy to get rid of me.

Anger activated my brain, and I spit blood into Rocky Hammer's face. He cursed as the sticky iron liquid obliterated his vision. That was something I took advantage of. I gathered my remaining strength and jerked my right knee hard into his ear.

He rumbled, and his grip on me loosened, causing me to fall on my back. I moved quickly when I saw him grab his bleeding ear. I rolled to my side and stood up. I then grabbed the sides of his head, jumped into the air, and slammed his face into the rough floor.

Not giving him time to recover or even react, I dropped to the floor, hooked my legs into his neck, and twisted it as hard as I could.

He gagged and clawed his hands in the air, trying to gasp for oxygen, but I made sure he didn't get any. He stopped moving after a few seconds and eventually passed out.

Immediately, I let go of him and rose to my feet, facing all the onlookers snarling like a raging monster.

The entire building was filled with shouts, cheers, and cusses once more. Money rained down on me, and I noticed Thomas Wyatt grinning on the balcony before turning around and walking away.

My fists curled up and I glared at his retreating back, breathing rapidly in exhaustion. 'Time will come that he will lose the ability to control me. Even if it means spending every night in the battle ring!'

Another rumble rolled out of my mouth and I finally turned to the door of the octagon bars. When my thoughts darted back to my grandfather, a pair of tears fell from the corner of my eyes.

"May you rest in peace, Henry Summer."

Thirty minutes later, I exited the old building and found Liz near my big bike, leaning on her car with a wide creepy grin on her face.

My brows creased. 'What exactly is this witch doing in here?'

Liz's face lit up when she saw me. "Fuck, girl! You kick that beast's ass!" she exclaimed as she hopped like a rabbit behind me and massaged my shoulder.

"Did you see the fight?"

How did that happen?

How did she gain access to the building? The security was so tight that they wouldn't let even a fly in, let alone a suspicious creature like Elizabeth Summer.

"Hell, yeah! And I fucking love how you put that despicable giant to sleep; you're fantastic!" she exclaimed, but quickly stopped massaging me and flicked her fingers to the air as if she remembered something. "That's not why I came here to look for you."

Shrugging my shoulder, I walked over to my big bike. "I'm not interested, Liz; please return home."

She scoffed, her arms crossed above her chest. "You can't just send me away like that, monster!" she grumbled. "Why didn't you go to the funeral? You're such a heartless person!"

My heart flinched as her words made me feel guilty, but I tried to ignore them and explained myself. "I had matches today; I'll just go to the cemetery tomorrow."

I hopped on my big bike, slung my backpack over my shoulders, and put on my helmet. I turned the ignition on and was about to drive away when Liz abruptly blocked my path.

"What the hell!" I yelled angrily. "You want to die, huh? Then suit yourself!" I threatened to run over her but came to a halt when she surprised me with her words.

"I couldn't believe that grandfather left you half of his fortune; you're a cold-blooded bitch!" she clamored before turning around and marching towards her CRV.

"Elizabeth Summer, come back here!" I shouted.

What the hell?

What does she mean our grandfather left me half of his fortune?

"What? I can't... Urgh! I'm sorry I can't hear you," she replied as she opened her car's door.

My eyes narrowed as my patience was provoked. "Liz, I know you fucking hear me and I swear, if you're just messing with me, I'm going to kill you!"

She hopped into her vehicle, unfazed. "Oh well, forget Summer's wealth and just leave your inheritance to the orphanage, cousin!" She then drove away.

I slapped my forehead in frustration.

'Oh, how I wish I could choke that woman. She's making my head hurt even more.'

My chest heaved up and down and I took a deep breath to loosen up my tensed nerves. My thoughts returned to what she had said, and I got curious.

'Is Liz telling the truth? That the old man left me something?'
