PORSHA POV
I walked into my bedroom my heart racing like a demented cow on the loose. Throwing away my hat, I took out my hair comb letting my hair fall freely as I clenched my fist in anger, trying to suppress the weight of my beating heart. I could still hear his voice echoing in my head, his touch still lingering on my skin. I was the one who injured that servant, I had the last laugh so how was I the one who fell uneasy, and threatened. "Permit me to say this princess, but what you did was uncalled for" Anne's voice tore through my thoughts. "What do you mean Anne, didn't you hear that man insult me?" I asked, nonplussed as I glanced at her. She should be on my side. Enough with all the gender inequality, we are all humans and should be respected equally depending on our status. "Insult you princess? you were being violent for no reason. This wasn't the first time you had been insulted by a man so why did this one make you lose all your composure?" She doubted, a worried frown etched on her face. She did have a point though, for the longest time I have had to defend myself against condescending men but not once have I done so through violence, so what was so different about this particular servant that made me defensive all of a sudden? was it the threatening aura I felt around him or the way he spoke, or the confidence radiating from his voice, or was it the fact that the moon goddess thought it would be wise to subdue me to the level of being fated to an ordinary omega?. Either way, I didn't regret my actions, he insulted me, and I put him in his place, and I wouldn't let anyone make me feel otherwise. "I did what I thought was right" I responded simply, there was no way I was going to make that servant anymore relevant than he already was. "Porsha that man saved you and instead of thanking him, you attacked him. Tell me Porsha how was that right" She demanded and I froze. Truth was, there was no justification for what I did. I felt insecure and decided to defend myself. "Pardon what I am about to say Porsha but I think your fight for equality has eaten up all your intelligence and now you are just a shadow of the honorable princess you once were..." She said in anger, her tone laced with condensation. Her words immediately took me aback, and I turned to her. "Enough Anne" I commanded, my blood boiling with rage "It appears that I have given you way too much freedom, but not anymore. You have no right to talk down to me, your princess. I do not know what relationship exist between you and that lowlife but you have no right what so ever to question my decisions" Her eyes widened and she immediately bowls on her knees. "Pardon my insolence Porsha. I didn't mean to disrespect you. I forever remain loyal to you" She apologized her voice trembling. "I don't want to hear it Anne. Leave my room" I interrupted, my chest swollen like it was about to explode. She glazed up at me, searching my face for possible answers and when she got whatever she was looking for, she rose to her feet, apologized once more and walked out. With her out of sight I slammed to my bed, gritting my teeth. My head hurting with unending thoughts as I reflected on his last words, "Before the week runs out princess you would be on my bed, moaning my name as I put my seeds inside of you." His words still brought goosebumps to my skin. “Where did he get such authority from?” I wondered staring aimlessly at my ceiling, that was when I head a knock. Knowing Anne, I bet she was here to offer me some tea, cause tea always calmed my anger, but not this time, I was going to teach her never to disrespect me again. "I am not interested in whatever you are offering" I said nonchalantly as I opened the door, only to come face to face with the last person I was expecting. "Ryder!" I exclaimed unconsciously, pulling him into a hug. His warm arms surrounded me like a wet blanket which immediately cools down the raging storm within me. "I miss you too princess" He said with a hoarse laugh. His words took me aback and I immediately pulled away. "Sorry. I don't know what came over me" I apologized abashed. It was thoughtless and unprincesslike of me to do that. "It's fine my love, I liked it" He said with a gigantic smile and my cheeks turned red from blushing. "Whatever" I said, casually striding back in and taking a seat on my king size bed, my heart racing with ecstasy. “So to what do I owe this visit?" I asked pretending not to care as I glanced at my nails, fixating on nothing in particular. He doesn't say a word instead he eyes locked on to my face for some reason. “What are you staring at, is something on my face?" I doubted, nervously touching my face for flaws. "No, you're perfect" He corrected, holding my hands in his, "Just that I have never seen you without your hat on, and your hair loose like that. You really look breathtaking" His flattering made my stomach flutter with butterflies. "Well yeah... I'm stunning" I teased with a smile, my checks burning with shyness. "Indeed you are stunning inside and out" He said with a chuckle, as he grabbed me by the waist, pulling me closer. "Ryder let me go. What would people say if they walk in on us like this” I beseeched, trying to pry his hands off, my heart racing as I scanned the room in a panic. He doesn't relent on his hold, instead he just tightened his grip around my waist, and increased his laughter. "They will ask us to get a room, because such behavior is not permitted at one's in-laws place" He said, plaguing my intrigues. My heart racing with anticipation. Ryder have been on a mission to acquire funds for our marriage. Did Ryder get my bride prides. "In-law's place? are you saying what I think you are saying?" I doubted a warm glow radiating in my chest. He smiles brightly, “Yes babe, I got the full bride pride and a little extra for the fashion house you want to open" I burst out laughing, "You're joking right? 5000 gold coins is a lot, I will understand if you needed to more time to raise it" He smiles, this time holding my hands instead, "You don't need to wait any longer wife. You have been patient enough with this poor fellow. I mean I have kept this beauty waiting for good nine months, it's almost sounding like a pregnancy" He said and we both burst into laughter, my eyes starting to well up with tears of joy. My heart at the verge of exploding. "I am sorry for making you wait this long" "It's not your fault Ryder, I understand that was quite an outrageous sum" I explained with a half hearted smile as I gazed upon his hard, blister full palms, “Did you get all of this from working hard to get my bride price?" I asked with a heavy heart, already knowing his answer. He doesn't answer directly instead he just smiled and said, "I told you I would do anything for you" Immediately his words hit my ear drums all the tears I was holding back, suddenly shut out. “Thank you so much. I don't know how I am even going to repay you" I said with gratitude, my chest heavy with excitement. No man has ever done this much for me not even my own dad. He pulls away, and gently raised my chin such that our eyes met, “You can repay me by always being yourself, make that fashion house of yours surpass all those men who look down on you and never let anyone defeat you” “I promise not to disappoint you" I said wiping off my tears with a small laugh. "That's what I want to hear" He said equally excited. "So, tell me how is operation gender equality going?" He asked in a bit to lighten up the mood and I excitedly join in, "Good actually. I have actually established some female training sites in..." I began speaking but got cut off by the sound of the war bell ringing. Panicked we both jumped out of bed. "What is happening?" I asked, my voice trembling with fear as Ryder took out his sword. "We are about to find out" He declared, as we both ran out the bedroom into the hallway. The hallway was packed with soldiers running heta skeeter. We finally get an audience with one of the palace guards. "What is happening?" Ryder questioned with urgency. "The kingdom is under attack by dragon king Leviathan and his army" He informed and I froze. Leviathan is here, but how. The trip from Ember nest to Vikland is a day's ride, so how was he here. Unless, unless he was already here. "Babe, I have to go" Ryder said with a determined voice. "I'll go with you" I offered, a feeling of unease radiating in my chest. "No need my love. I will handle it just take care of yourself for me, okay" He beseeched me, planted a kiss on my forehead and ran out with the guard. As I watched him disappear into the crowd my throat tightened, my heart felt heavy all of a sudden. A mysterious chill ran down my spine, it felt like something bad was about to happen but what. Just then Anne ran towards me, a tedious frown on her face, "Porsha there's trouble" She said in-between pants and my heart felt. "What happened?" I asked trying to stabilize my voice, while my heart raced. "Dragon king Leviathan.... Dragon king Leviathan is.... is the slave you assaulted in the market place" "What???" PORSHA'S POVI woke up to a particularly lovely day, the sky was the most beautiful shade of blue and the sound of birds chirping echoed through out the palace. “Good morning my beautiful queen” Anne's voice boomed through the room,A tray of hair ornaments and makeup in hand.I laid back in bed, a sigh escaping my lips.“What is beautiful about the morning Anne?” I doubted, feeling down cast.I can't believe it has only been four days since I arrived at this hell hole. It feels like forty. I honestly don't think I could endure this any longer. “Oh! Porsha don't be like that” Anne said, taking a seat next to me on the bed, “Think about all the things you have to be thankful for”I immediately turn towards her, a curious frown on my face. “And what am I supposed to be grateful for?" I asked with a raised brow. “Is that even a question?" Anne questioned with a nonplussed expression on her face. “Didn't you wake up today? You're still beautiful, you have Empress Helen on
THIRD PERSON POV Porsha walked out of the prayer room, her breathing off as she strided towards Anne with red eyes. “Anne let's go" She commanded, her chest still hurting from Leviathan's bitter words, who did he think he was to humiliate, or threaten her like that. She wasn't scared of him, at least not as much as she did before. “Porsha what is wrong? Did his highness do anything to you?” Anne doubted with a raised brow.“What else hasn't he done, apart from threatening to kill me,” Porsha informed nonchalantly, her tone filled with disappointment.Anne's eyes widen, her tone alarmed, “You don't mean it" “My goodness! Why would his majesty say something as terrible as that to you?"“Cause that is how he truly feels. I bet he only married me to establish his dominance" Porsha said.“What did you say to him Porsha?" Anne questioned, a frown creeping to his face.“Nothing" Porsha answered, her blood boiling with rage.“That's impossible. I know his highness might be
LEVIATHAN'S POV I flickered my eyes open to the rays of the bright morning sun, the thought of my confrontation with Porsha rushing into my mind.I tried rising up from bed but I am stopped by a tight hold around my waist, it was Serafin, the concubine I spent the night with. Originally, I thought of going back to Cassandra's room but decided against it, when I remembered yesterday was a Saturday, her weekly handy down day and for Cassandra nothing was more important than running the harem. If I did go there, I would have been cast aside. “Permission to enter, your majesty” A masculine voice boomed from outside the room, pulling me from my thoughts. The voice was so loud that it woke Serafin from her slumber.“Greetings your highness" She said, trying to brush her tangled hair with her fingers, but I am not in the least impressed, to think she used to be my favorite once upon a time.“Good morning Serafin" I responded calmly.“Who is that?" She questioned, her voice no h
THIRD PERSON POV Matilda's laughter boomed across the room, her eyes watering from excitement as she told her personal servant, the scene she just witnessed. “Velma you should have seen them. Leviathan was furious he even threw Porsha to the floor, and threatened that he was going to kill all of her relatives” Matilda informed still cracking up, as she wiped off a tear drop from the side of her eyelid. “Goodness! that must have been terrible for poor queen Porsha” Velma said, her tone laced with a sprinkle of pity.“Come on Velma don't tell me you suddenly pity that woman. I advise you not to, she got exactly what she deserved” Matilda informed, her eyes gleaming with mischief, “Now, that Porsha knows exactly where she stands in this palace, and that is beneath my feet”“You can say that again queen mother. Congratulations on your victory” Velma said, her voice bubbling with excitement, “This calls for a celebration don't you think. Should I pour out some wine?”“Yes Velma
PORSHA POV I sat infront of my mirror, a dull ache still residing in my heart after the incident tonight.“Anne do you think what I did in the ceremony hall was bad?” I doubted turning to face Anne. My mind recently have been filled with doubts it like I can't do anything right, anymore.“Of course not Porsha. Infact you should be proud after all you saved his majesty from certain death” Anne explained, her eyes sparkling with sincerity but I had my doubts.“But that's not what everyone else thinks Anne. Did you see the disgust on their faces when they walked out” I informed, as their disappointed faces replayed in my head. They all hate me and I was only trying to do the right thing.“There were just surprised Porsha. In any case they only walked out because his highness did that first” Anne assured with a smile as she took my hands in hers.“I tell you what, his highness will be here any second now to thank you” She added and as though hearing her words. The room announcer
LEVIATHAN'S POV Cassandra's laugh boomed across her room like a raging storm. “Levi that woman dealt with you without even opening her mouth. I could see the fear in your eyes, it was as though you were going to faint” She said, her tone laced with mockery that it sent shivers down my spine. “Cassandra please do not add salt to my wounds” I beseeched her, as I gaggled down a glass of red wine. My blood boiling with rage as I recall everything. How defenceless I felt when Porsha pointed that arrow at my head, and how she deployed it in the guise of killing a snake. Yes indeed she killed it but she equally injured my ego in the process and there will be consequences. “But I am not doing anything your highness. Queen Porsha had inflicted not just salt but pepper to your wounds with her little act of trying to save your life. I mean she deliberately broke your law but ensured that you couldn't punish her since she did it for your sake” Cassandra commented, an amused smile e
