Lucille's POV

I struggled with the ropes around my wrists, but they were too tight. Pulling too much only got me bruised. I stopped when I heard footsteps approaching.

“I’m sorry, Miss Lucille, old habits,” Josephine snapped her fingers and her men retracted their guns.

“Get her out of those damned ropes,” she said, a scowl on her face.

I was cut free in an instant. I sat up as a maid served us drinks. “This is one of my best wines. You should try it,” she said, picking up her glass.

“Why did you bring me here?” I asked, eyes darting around.

I was weary of her and the men who stood around. They didn't have their guns out, but it didn't change the fact that they could take it out just as quickly as I blink.

“I understand your being weary of me, but,” she picked up my glass and handed it to me. Reluctantly, I took the glass.

“Did you like my gift?” she asked.

“You tipped the media?” I asked.

“It wasn’t hard. They aren't very discreet, you know?” she shook her head, taking anot

  • FORBIDDEN DEAL WITH THE MAFIA BOSS    Chapter 24

Lucille’s POV“Ben!” I called out, rushing down the stairs. He paused, watching me as I got to him. I quickly snatched the box out of his hand, smiling nervously. “It’s for me,” I said. His gaze moved from my face to the box I now held. I could tell I wasn’t putting on a good calm front because his gaze grew suspicious.“What is it?” he asked.I didn’t know, and that was a problem. I wasn’t sure what King might be up to and how bad it was. “Um… nothing you need to be worried about,” I said.“What is it?” he asked, this time his tone low, dragging every word.I held the box tighter, trying to think of a way out of this, but nothing seemed to be coming. “Lucy, if you don’t tell me, I’ll take it out myself,” he said, already taking the box from me.I bit my lips, before letting my tongue take the lead. “It’s lingerie,” I said.He looked at me, puzzled. “I got them so we could spice things up a little,” I said, but he didn’t look convinced. Before I could blink, he tore the box open, and

Lucille’s POVI grabbed the blinking wristwatch, shaking. I had given Harvey this wristwatch, one so he could contact me if there was trouble and two to locate him at anytime. But the house had a signal blocking feature I had installed. This blinking meant it was still being tracked. I threw it to the ground, stomping on it.The light went off and so did the wristwatch. I took in a deep breath and flashed Sam a smile. “It was nothing,” I said. “I’m going back now.”Sam looked at me confused but returned my smile. Yes, I did look crazy but better crazy than getting my son killed. I returned home and found myself in Benjamin’s study. He had specifically asked for one. Looking around, I realized I barely entered here. I was most times stopped or he was never in it so there was no need to do so.I pulled the drawers and found some stacks of papers. Nothing out of the ordinary. Out of the entire house, this was left untouched when I tried to find what I was being poisoned with and now, tha

  • FORBIDDEN DEAL WITH THE MAFIA BOSS    Chapter 22

Lucille’s POVIt’s been days since I spoke with Josephine, yet I couldn’t relax. Not when I was yet to understand what she truly wanted. Our last conversation echoed in my mind over and over again.“Why do you want that?” I had asked after she made the most strangest request.Josephine smiled. “I just want it. Don’t tell me you have some sentiment around it,” she said.“There is no sentiment. Why do you want my house?”Our marital home was caught inbetween Benjamin’s and Katherine’s plot a year ago. It was burnt with barely anything standing. We moved into this home not long ago and so it really held no value to me. However, I couldn’t stop to ask myself if there was a possibility there was something more to the reason Josephine wanted my house.Of all things I owned.“I’ll give you some time to think about it. You have a week,” she said and didn’t give me an opportunity to ask any other question as they ushered me out of the resort.I’ve had to deal with that for two days. I drove in

Lucille’s POV“This way,”I nodded with a smile as I trailed behind him. Every corner we turned made me more alert with dozens of guards stationed at each corridor.“Welcome, Miss Lucille,” Josephine said, gesturing for the seat across from her.I took a seat as she continued. “You know I miss Britain. Work hasn’t exactly allowed me visit but this resort has one of the best teas, you should try it,” she said. She raised her hand and a server came, placing two tea cups before us then filled it. “Try it,” Josephine urged.“Thank you but I’ll decline,” I said.“You always refuse anything I give you, that’s unfair,” she said then took a sip of her tea, nodding. “Perfect.”“You said you had something for me,” I said, cutting to the chase.“You’re always in such a hurry, Miss Lucille. Do I make you that uncomfortable.”I said nothing because it was the truth. She picked up a tea spoon and stirred hers. “A little birdie told me you tried to investigate me,” she said then placed the spoon do

Lucille’s POVKing pulled me into him, his hand around my head as the glass at my side shattered as well. “Out!” King ordered the driver.I heard the gun clock as he got out of the car. My body shivered at the sound of the gun. A loud thud followed and a splash of something which reached my face.I brought my hand to my face and my breath caught in my throat at the blood. “Shit!” King mumbled. He pulled me away from his chest gently. “Stay down and don’t get out until I say so,” he said.I nodded eyes wide as I watched him slip out of the car. He took out a gun and spoke Italian before firing at someone. I bent over as it became a gun fight. My heart thundered in my chest, tears filling my eyes as I prayed I got out here alive. Every minute I heard someone dropping to the ground. It went on for a long time before everything went silent. I slowly raised my head, looking out of the broken window. I jolted as the door to the other side opened.I looked over my shoulder, still shivering.

Lucille’s POV “Come,” King pulled me into the dance floor, hands on my waist.“Dance,” he whispered. We moved to the slow rhythm of the music, surrounded by so many other couples but I could still see Benjamin. He was still staring. Still watching.I shouldn't have taken my mask off. I scolded myself.“Look at me,” King said and I raised my gaze to him.King was taller than me by so many inches. Even with heels, I still had to raise my head enough to look him in the eyes.“If you keep looking at him, he'll only grow suspicious,” he added.I hummed. We danced in silence for a minute before I couldn't hold it in anymore. “How long have you known?” I asked. He smirked. “I know a lot of things Miss Lucille. You have to be specific with your questions,” he said.“You know what I'm implying, King,” I said.“Do you mean if I knew you came to me because you wanted to get revenge on your husband?” he paused. “Yes, I knew that from the moment you made the first call.”“How long have you known
