LUCIAN POV

The door clicked shut behind her, and the condo went quiet in a way it never had before.

I stood in the kitchen with my coffee going cold in my hand, staring at the spot where she'd been hopping on one foot, shoes in her fist, trying to leave my life as fast as she'd walked into it.

I hadn't slept. I'd spent the night on my own couch, listening to the faint sounds of her turning over in my bed, telling myself I had done the decent thing. The decent thing had felt a lot like punishme

THIRD PERSON'S POV Kyle woke up with a headache the size of a small country and absolutely no idea why his heart was racing. He lay still, staring at the ceiling, waiting for the room to stop spinning. Sunlight leaked through the thin white curtains. His mouth tasted like something had died in it. And underneath the pounding in his skull, a single thought was slowly rising to the surface, quiet at first, then louder.Silas.The memories didn't arrive in order. They came in flashes. The stairs. Silas's arm around his waist. His own voice saying something unforgivably stupid, like you're pretty, and then laughing about it. Silas's hands on his shirt, careful and slow. The blanket. Fingers wrapped around a wrist. The words don't go.And then the kiss.Kyle's whole body went hot. He squeezed his eyes shut and pressed the heel of his hand against his forehead, as if that could push the memory back where it came from. It didn't. He remembered the way Silas had kissed him, gentle at first,

LUCIAN POV The door clicked shut behind her, and the condo went quiet in a way it never had before.I stood in the kitchen with my coffee going cold in my hand, staring at the spot where she'd been hopping on one foot, shoes in her fist, trying to leave my life as fast as she'd walked into it.I hadn't slept. I'd spent the night on my own couch, listening to the faint sounds of her turning over in my bed, telling myself I had done the decent thing. The decent thing had felt a lot like punishment."Fuck," I muttered, setting the mug down.Because the truth was simple and I couldn't stop circling it. She had been on her knees in front of me last night, looking up at me like I was the only thing in the world, and the moment I'd seen the doubt in her eyes afterward, the moment she'd asked if we were going to do it, I had known exactly why I'd stopped. She was a virgin. She was eighteen. She was my student. Any one of those facts should have kept my hands to myself.I wanted to be the fir

THIRD PERSON'S POV Kyle weighed more than he looked. By the time Silas had gotten him up the stairs and through the door of their dorm, one shoe was missing, his shirt was half untucked, and he was humming something that didn't have a tune."You're heavy," Silas said, kicking the door shut behind them."You're pretty," Kyle replied with total sincerity, then looked shocked at himself and giggled into Silas's shoulder.Silas pretended he hadn't heard it. He steered Kyle across the spacious room and lowered him onto his bed, and Kyle immediately tried to stand again, swayed, and sat back down with a thump."Stay there," Silas said."You said that at the party too." Kyle squinted up at him, his eyes glassy and soft. "You told me to kiss you. And I did.""It was a dare.""Was it?" Kyle tilted his head, the question far too honest for someone so drunk. "Because it didn't feel like a dare."Silas swallowed. He turned away and went to switch on the small lamp by the desk. His heart was poun

  • FORBIDDEN LESSON    11. THE NONCHALANT ONE

SKYLAR POV The way Lucian looked at me changed something in the room. His eyes went dark, heavy with a hunger he'd kept leashed all night, and I understood in a rush that he wanted this just as badly as I did.He didn't look away from me as he pulled his shirt over his head and let it drop to the floor. I'd imagined what was underneath it more times than I'd ever admit out loud, but imagining was nothing compared to seeing it, the broad shoulders, the hard lines of his chest and stomach, the faint shadow of his breathing. My mouth went dry.His hand moved to his belt next. He slid it free slowly, the leather hissing through the loops, and I stared, completely unable to look anywhere else. I couldn't stop wondering what I was about to see, how much of what I was feeling was nerves and how much was want. When he finally stood in front of me, I realized I'd underestimated him. He was bigger than I had ever let myself imagine, and a sharp, panicked breath caught in my chest before I coul

  • FORBIDDEN LESSON    10. TRUTH OR DARE

SKYLAR POV Damien produced a bottle from somewhere, setting it down in the middle of the low table with a theatrical flourish, like he'd been waiting all night for an excuse to start chaos."House rules," he said, grinning around at all of us. "No skipping. No lying. If you chicken out of a dare, you take a shot instead.""This feels like a terrible idea," Emma muttered, though she was already scooting closer to the table, clearly not opposed to it at all."The worst ideas are always the most fun," Silas said, dropping down beside Kyle, close enough that their knees brushed, close enough that I saw Kyle go visibly still for half a second before forcing himself to relax. The bottle spun first toward Ethan, who landed on Damien and picked dare without hesitation, which ended with him attempting some ridiculous dance move that had the whole group laughing. The tension in the air eased for a moment, loose and easy, until the bottle spun again and landed, impossibly, directly between Luci
