LOGINLILY
Pierce Blackwood is a scary man. At some point in our lives, before baby number one had even dropped, I was sure he was going to kill my sister. Very wrong assumption. But the way he looked at Jace now, I was sure he would commit murder. “I have no idea what’s going on either, this is ALL her.” Jace answered casually and strolled to the couch farthest away from me, where he sprawled, one long leg crossed over the other. Stupid big man. How dare he be so comfortable, this was serious! “Lily!” Myra yelled. I turned, my cheeks red. I had only looked at him for a second. Ah yes…the explanation. I started with an apology. “I am sooo sorry I roped you all into this, it really isn’t how I thought the night would go.” I took in a deep breath readying myself. On top of my heart wrenching experience, I had to narrate said heart wrenching experience that same night, to everyone in the room (including Jace) AND tell it in a way that gathered enough sympathy to make them all go with my plan. “Earlier this night I walked in on my boyfriend lick-“ I choked on my words, “ahhh, cheating on me.” I thought about the scene and the tears that sprouted to my eyes came naturally. No, I could not cry about Taser, not yet. “Oh honey…” my sister cooed. Pierce joined her on the couch and wrapped an arm around her to comfort her. I swear, these two… “I was overwhelmed, hurt. You know how that feels…” was I petty bringing up their past rocky moments? Probably. “And then I saw Myra and Jace, and …I panicked, Taser looks up to Jace, so I knew it would piss him off if I…did what I did. So I did.” Pierce let out a weary sigh. Jace was silent, Angie had disappeared…and my sister looked at me pitifully. The nail in the coffin that she was right about disliking Taser. She would never say it outloud though. My sister was too nice. “So what are we going to do. Honey?” My sister looked at the expert in all things coverup. Being a multibillionaire CEO, Pierce had his fair share of manipulating media to what he wanted it to look like. Unfortunately I had different ideas of what I wanted tonight to look like. Pierce shrugged, stroking his beard, “I was on the phone with Wilber before you came in, he says the-“ “I actually have another idea.” I said loudly. “What is it?” I glanced at Jace. He needed the most convincing. “I was thinking we could stay in a relationship for a short while.” My sister was the only one with a shocked face. The other two had good poker faces. “It’s not a real relationship! just pretend.” “Absolutely not-“ …Myra “Do you even know what you’re asking for-“ …Pierce “Fine.”…Jace -wait Jace! My face lit up with hope. “Did I hear right?!” My sister whisper yelled. “Just hear me out.” Jace said, sitting up. Their attention was now on him, no longer me, so was mine actually, why did he readily agree? Since he detested me so much. I wouldn’t touch you with a ten-foot pole even if I was paid to. I shook off the memory. “I’ve been CEO for a year, and my company’s throwing me under a bus to find my better half.” He said the word like it was poison. “We know that’s not happening, but the world thinks it’ll be a mark in my reformation.” A reformation from party king to sober CEO. It had been a year since his brother died, and I thought he was doing okay so far. “A girlfriend would get them off my back.” he continued, “I’ve been planning on making an arrangement with someone for a while, I was analyzing candidates which is why I should’ve been at work today. But I’m here, and we have this situation. Might ad well get the best out of it.” Done, he leaned back in his seat. This was working out better than I thought. He was gaining something out of it too.. “I’m not letting you drag my sister into some elaborate scheme.” Myra protested. Pierce was silent, and I was hopeful. “This was my idea.” I pointed out. “Pierce…” she pleaded. He whispered something in her ear that made her huff and focus on my nephew. Was that a win? “If we…agree to this, you know it’s going to be difficult. For what you’re planning, you need to convince the world that you …love Lily.” I snorted. “And that she loves you.” Jace hummed. Asshat. “And that clearly won’t work, you can barely stay in the same room.” Myra concluded. “He called me a midget the first time we met, and then covered me with non recyclable glitter, he’s hardly great company.” I snapped. “You say it like I was wrong, short stack.” Jace drawled. “See.” Myra pointed out. “But.” I continued, schooling my anger. “This is important to me. And it seems it’s important to him too. Sis, if we call this off, I have to face all my mates like a sad pathetic loser. Pleaseeeee let this happen.” I closed the distance between us and gave her my best puppy eyes. See how desperate I am. “Okay.” Myra said with a sigh. I beamed at her, relief flooding me. “Thank you.” She smiled at me before her eyes flitted to Jace. “Could you take Ian to bed for me. And check the others too.” I understood when I was asked to leave the room, but I wasn’t worried. They had agreed, that was all I cared about right now. I collected my nephew and went up the stairs as I plotted my next move. Taser had spent four years lying to me. All the things I had endured in his hand and in Evie’s because I thought they were my people. This was a mission to get the old Lily back. And old Lily was a selfish little bitch. I would make them both regret ever crossing me.***** JACE ***** One lie had become a truth, because it seemed Lily was genuinely interested in horses and looking forward to the races.“Apparently they’re just large dogs. Like a dog you could ride. Ohhh I hope I get to pet one!”“It’s a sport, not a petting zoo.” She mocked my voice and scrunched her face up. “You’re gonna ruin this for me aren’t you?”Throughout the ride she had been in good spirits. Guess I was the only one thinking about the kiss. “I won’t make any promises.” I pulled into the parking area of the ranch where the event was being held, and stopped the car. Even from there, I could hear the announcers calling for the next race. Several groups past by our car chattering about bets they had made. “Show time.” I said and opened my door. Then went around and opened hers. “Wait. I’ve got something for you.” She said, holding me back. I was drawn to new details on her face. While she had managed to keep her glittery goodness off her body, it peppered shined on her ey
***** LILY *****Taser and I had been on sex hiatus. It was finals and things were hectic, I understood. But being so intimately pressed with a man that made little sounds like he was tortured while his teeth grazed my teeth, six months felt like a bloody lifetime. His tongue darted out to taste the crook of my neck and I thought of several other places I wanted that mouth. A throat cleared behind us. Jace didn’t seem to want to let go of me. I didn’t want him to. Not while I was on that car, shivering with need. He’d stopped kissing me, but his head was still buried in the crook of my neck. My heart pounded in my face as I forced my eyes to focus on our intruder. “Jace?” I called tentatively. I could not figure what was going through his head. Sure we had started off just setting up for Taser, but in those few seconds it had morphed into something more intense. Real. He squeezed my thigh, exhaling hard, then stepped back without looking at me.I was fine with that. I had to fin
***** LILY *****I walked across the parking lot, my eyes scanning my surroundings. I was certain no one would be here for at least an hour, so I had time to do the deed and get out.And everyone would assume I was here to see Jace, not find my ex’s car. I cringed as my phone pinged with a new message. I thought it was on silent mode. I pulled it out of my hip bag and frowned at the new text. More details from Jace on an event he wanted me to check out. Some horseriding thing. I didn’t care enough to go through the details, but it sounded like a lot of work. A lot more work than what he was doing for me. I bet I would run into one of his exes at this thing too. I huffed, then smiled when I spotted Taser’s new car. I still couldn’t believe this was actually his. It was not surprising though. Taser liked to belong. His used Toyota didn’t exactly fit the image he wanted at Jace’s company. What was surprising was where he got the money for this… I didn’t know cars, but it looked expens
*****LILY*****I glanced up at the stunning brunette that was smiling down at us. “Fuck.” Jace cursed beside me, I don’t think he realized he had done it. I could immediately tell they had had history with the way she was staring at him expectantly. “It has been a while, hasn’t it? Six months, right?”Whatever drama this was, I wanted no part of it. I started to scoot away when Jace’s hand returned to my hip, keeping me in place. I sucked air into my lungs, my body going taut for the second time. Sure I was holding his hand in the building, but this pose felt intimate. I was extremely aware of every finger and the subtle movements it made on my jean covered thigh.I was frankly too aware of Jace’s presence. And more pissed about it with the possible vogue model in a cute yellow dress that hugged her lithe figure.God, she was stunning.“Yup, six months. It’s good to see you again.”“I tried to reach you multiple times.” She was still smiling but there was a bite to her tone. “I am
*****JACE*****Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I don’t know how I survived this long without facing the consequences of my lifestyle.Well there was Daisy, who smashed my car windows, and Crystal, who threatened to kill me and then herself. But I never fooled any of them into thinking we were a real deal, unlike the sucker I was looking at. He deserved whatever was coming.“Babe, I think it’s time we leave, walk me to the door?” Her eyes glowed with mischief, joy and seduction. Whether she intended the last bit or not. Perhaps putting her ex down added an extra point to her confidence levels.“I have a better idea,” I found myself saying, “how about we have lunch together?”“Are you sure?” Her voice sounded thick and flowy, a tone meant to disarm. I reminded myself that she was being showy, for her ex.So it made perfect sense when my fingers brushed over her face, tucked an errant strand behind her ear, and raised her chin up.“Can’t think of any other way to spend my after
***** LILY *****I clapped, “okay! Time to head downstairs. Would you like to escort me o boyfriend of mine?”We’s already decided he was coming, but since that bead broke, he’d returned to acting aloof. So maybe he had changed his mind about coming. Coming or not, I was going to enjoy this.“Lead the way.” He gritted out, like he was already regretting this decision. I grinned at his displeasure, made my way to the chair I’d dumped my jacket on and grabbed it. “Hold this.”He collected it without a word. Outside his office, he grabbed my hand and tugged me to the side.“Private elevator huh. Use it to sneak your girlfriends in?” I teased. Jace ignored me.“Care to share what you have planned?”“Thought you’d never ask. A couple nights ago, while I was seething in my heartbreak and logging Taser’s email account in conspiratory theorist forums, I had an epiphany. I could do better than that. So I got online and ordered him a bunch of necessary items, and had them delivered here, the
