Kate

I froze the moment his words hit me.

"You haven't told me why you were in my room last night."

Damn it.

My fingers twitched at my sides, and for a second, I couldn't breathe. My pulse roared in my ears like a storm refusing to calm. I had hoped—naively—that he wouldn't bring it up. That he'd be too distracted by his ego or the memory of last night to care why I had slipped into his room in the first place.

Slowly, I turned, careful not to meet his eyes. I couldn't. Not when my face was still burning from the cocky way he'd said "It'll happen again." As if I had no control. As if he already owned me.

He didn't. He couldn't.

"I told you," I said quietly, "Bianca asked me to bring something and I... I must have stepped into the wrong room."

It was a terrible lie. One that even I didn't believe.

But I had to say something—anything—that didn't sound like I was searching for something in his drawers like a goddamn thief.

I could feel his stare on me, sharp. I hated how it made my skin

Kate"Say it," he breathed against my mouth, voice husky with want.I shivered but whispered, "What do you want me to say?"His hands tightened on my hips, pulling me flush against him, the hardness of him pressing insistently."That you'll behave."The words felt like a surrender, and yet, I wanted to say them. I wanted to be his in that way—the way he demanded, the way he commanded."I'll behave," I murmured, breathless. He smirked against my lips, and I knew this was only the beginning. His hands slipped under the hem of my shirt, trailing up my back, fingers digging into skin."Good girl," he said. "But first, I'm going to remind you exactly who's in charge."His mouth found the sensitive spot just below my ear, and I melted—ready, willing, and already undone. His mouth moved slowly down my neck, leaving a trail of fire with every touch. I could feel the pulse pounding in my throat, every nerve alive and aching for more. His hands gripped me tighter, sliding under my shirt to cup

KateI didn't hear half the story Aria was telling me. She was talking about a dream she had last night—something about a kitten with wings and her daddy turning into a superhero with lasers in his eyes—but my mind had wandered far from her story.Far from the pink bowl in my hand and the spoonful of mashed bananas hovering mid-air.I was back beneath that tree. With Sophia. And the haunted look in her eyes as she finally spoke the truth. Her grandmother. Gone. Her innocence. Sold. Her soul. Shattered. And Dante—he'd found her. Saved her. Protected her. Why?Was it guilt? Duty? Or something else entirely?"Aunt Kate?"Aria's soft voice yanked me back to the present. I blinked, startled, and realized the spoon was still frozen in front of her mouth."Oh—sorry," I said quickly, scooping the mush back up before offering it to her again. "Here. You were saying the kitten had pink wings?"But Aria didn't open her mouth. She was watching me closely now, little brows drawn together like she w

DanteThe next morning, I woke up to find the bed empty. The sheets were still warm, but kate was gone. She must've rushed out before the first light of dawn, leaving only the soft scent of her perfume in the room. I couldn't help but smile to myself."Shy as usual, I guess," I thought with a small chuckle. "Her supposed sharp tongue can't handle me. Whenever I take hold of her, she screams my name like she's meant to."I shook my head, the smile still lingering on my lips. I had her exactly where I wanted. I stretched my arms and swung my legs off the bed. A quick bath was all I needed to start my day, so I moved to the bathroom, letting the warm water wash away the remnants of sleep.Once I was done, I threw on some clothes and made my way to my study. I had to document some ideas that had been running through my mind. The room was quiet, just the way I liked it. The soft whispers from the other end of the house barely reached my ears as I settled into the chair behind my desk. Pap

KateA part of me was happy with the new information from Gabe, but another part of me wanted to dig further and discover the truth."What do we do now?" Gina asked."We'll strategize and dig deeper. There's more to this." Gabe replied confidently."Exactly." I succumbed. "Gabe, Keep searching till you get more details." I instructed him. I knew I could always count on him to deliver well."Sure I'll do just that." He responded."Let's call it a day then." I suggested and they agreed. I stood up and walked out of the meeting room with Gina, feeling relief that our discussion with Gabe had come to a close. Gabe respectfully excused himself, leaving the two of us alone."Hey, want to grab some coffee at my place?" Gina asked, smiling."Sure" I nodded in agreement. We went over to her place, and we spent the next few hours chatting and laughing together. It was just what I needed – some quality time with my best friend.Later in the day, I said my goodbyes to Gina and headed home. The mo

KateI was having the time of my life playing with Aria, in her room. We were laughing and giggling while we took turns playing with her favorite toy. I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and contentment as I watched Aria's bright smile light up the room. It's always a delight, seeing her happy."Let's play game aunty, let's build blocks" she suggested."You want to play block games?" I teased. "You're going to lose.""No, I won't, I'll win!" she exclaimed in her adorable baby voice and a determined expression.I chuckled and watched as she scattered the blocks across the floor. She began to arrange them, her little hands moving quickly as she tried to build her tower."You're not going to beat me, Aria." I said when I observed she was making mistakes in her building. But she didn't give up. She kept building, her face set in concentration. Just like I predicted, she lost. I tried my first attempt, I won and decided to declare myself the winner. "My turn! And I won!"Aria's face cr
