Amara's POV
‘Billionaire Empress Dragged Out Of Party!’
‘Amara Forger is now facing lawsuits for being out of control.’
I couldn't even bring myself to read everything posted online; it was only going to add more salt to my wounds. After everything I had done for Hunter, this is the way he repays me? With a knife to my back!
And Kira, my sister, stood there with him. Even if Hunter stabbed me, she twisted the blade in my guts.
I got back to our family villa, the only place I could run back to. Parking my car, I slowly got down and walked into the building, trying to hold my head together.
I opened the doors to see my parents standing there watching the news, and of course, I was the one on the headline. They turned to look at me, and immediately, I saw my mother get up from her seat and start walking towards me.
The look on her face was a bit confusing, but given that she had seen everything that happened online, she was going to be trying to comfort me.
“Mom….”
Opening my hands for a hug, but I was dealt the exact opposite. It was no hug, but a blinding slap across the face.
‘What in the world is going on here?’
Slowly, I turned to get a clearer look at my mother’s face; she wasn't worried or anything. She was furious, and for some reason, it felt like her anger was focused on me.
“Mom? Why in the world would you…”
Before I could finish talking, another slap across my face, and this time I could feel the pure hate embedded in it.
“You couldn't just leave it?! Come home, then talk to us about it? You went to ruin Kira’s big night!”
I managed to catch myself when I heard what she said. What did she mean by that? Kira had taken the one person I loved with all my heart, they colluded and took everything I had worked to build from the ground up for the past six years, and she is saying I should have come home to talk about it?
“Mom, that is not the main reason I did all that. Hunter took the company from me, and he has been engaged to me, so why should I keep quiet when he is with my sister like that?”
I was looking at her, and I could feel the pure hate and animosity coming from her body. The room was filled with tension; it could be cut with a knife.
“She is your sister, the least you could have done is come back here and we would look for a way to talk about it, and for your company, is that worth it for you to attack your sister at her engagement party?”
What was she saying? I should have done what?
I looked at her, I raised my head up trying to see if I would see father saying anything to help me out, but he sat there quietly, staring at the television.
“You always had to be the star, you built the company from the ground up, transformed it into a billion-dollar firm, and you also made Hunter fall in love with you!” She snarled, looking at me like I was some kind of filth.
“Couldn't you swallow your ego and let Kira have this one thing?”
One thing? One thing?! They stole my damn life! Everything I built all these years, they tore it from my hands, and they didn't even look back to see if I was okay.
I couldn't control my anger anymore. Looking at them, I could tell that they were not going to do anything about this, and I was going to have to fight for it. Musterring up the courage, I spoke.
“Mother, what are you saying? I lost everything…the company…my life, and you are telling me to let them have it! Over my dead body, I am not—”
“No one told you to let him into your life.”
Father cut me off, I looked up, and I could see the empty look in his eyes.
“What do you mean, Father?” I asked, my voice lowered out of respect for him.“I mean,” he switched off the TV, standing up from the chair he usually slumped in, turning to look me in the eye while he spoke.
“You were the fool for trusting Hunter with everything, and you were dancing to his tones like you were some foolish puppy.”
His words were sharp; they pushed me back a bit when I stared into his eyes.
“Dad?” I called out, but it felt unreal to me.
I could remember when the Hunter family had come to our house asking for help, how mother and father insisted that I would use my influence and firm to put him in a place of power, and I did so.
They were the ones who were cheering me on when I told them I was in love with Hunter and they even said it would be the best thing to ever happen.
Tears rolled down my cheek; it felt like a never-ending loop of pain and torment, but I needed them to help me out of it. Even if everything was going down, they were still my family, and they could do something to help me.
“Dad…please, I need your help and support. I can't take my company back like this. All I have and all I own is to help our family, so please help me out.”
I slowly went on my knees, bowing my head down.
“I dont care if Hunter comes back to me, I just need your help to get my firm back from him, it's my everything.”
“Pfft, what I should help someone who isn't even my blood to take something from my new son-in-law? You must be dreaming…”
It was as if Father’s words paused time; I couldn't breathe. Looking at him and his mother, there was no way it was possible. Trying to control my breathing, I was looking at them, trying to put everything together.
“You’re joking, tell me you’re joking.” I slowly got up from the floor, almost falling back down; my knees were weak.
“Why should he lie? And if he was going to lie, it wouldn't be to someone like you, I warned Harold not to take in something like you, even if you were his dying brother’s only child, but it was the only way we would get the house and wealth tied to the little cash cow.”
Mother wasn't holding back her words, and I had never known her to be someone who would bluff.
I had so many words on the tip of my tongue, but I couldn't speak or even move.
Father turned and started walking back to his chair; the look in his eyes was still unreadable.
“Carol, if she is not going to do anything but stand there, then please push her out. We shouldn't have taken this burden upon ourselves. If I were you, I would make good use of that eleven percent I told Hunter to leave you and start something for yourself.”
I went pale, my legs were shaking uncontrollably.
He knew? Wait no…They helped him!
My misery slowly turned into anger, boiling in my heart, the rage couldn't be contained.
“What did I ever do to any of you? I did everything for you to love me, I built that firm for us to stand out and be on top. You were the reason I worked hard, so my family would be happy!”
“Now you have served your purpose; you are of no use to us.” Father turned to look at me, and I could read the look on his face this time.
It was pure disgust.
“Amara, we aren't your family. I mean, we are, but you aren't our daughter. So I would love it if you’d disappear from our lives.”
Suddenly mother, no Carol, she wasn't my mother, started pushing me out of the house since I was close to the door. I didnt fight back, I was too weak from the shock to even move my body.
“Go on now!” She pushed me out, looking me in the eye. “Now please, dont do anything to cast a shadow on Hunter and Kira.”
She said before slamming the door on my face, I stared at the door trying to understand how my whole life had crashed in one night and less than two hours.
This isn't real, I must have fallen asleep, and this is a nightmare, I just need to wake up and take what’s mine!
Amara’s POV“Billionaire Empress, Former CEO of the Emerald Hearts Firm, Amara Forger, found exiting The Royal Barks Hotel and Resort with the renowned Prince of the city, Roman Winters.” Trixie was doing her best to hide her excitement from me, and I could see it on her face. “You must have been knocked out for this kind of thing to happen,” she looked at me with a smile on her face. “Cause I know, if there is nothing you hate in the world more than Roman. But now, it seems that you are having an affair with him.” “Please dont say that out loud,” I was rubbing my temple, trying to think of what was going on. She got up from the chair, grabbing a glass of water from the table. Handing it to me, she watched as I drank it, trying to numb the pain. “I know you must feel like trash at this point, but you have to be strong and think of what you are going to do next.” She was not wrong. Even with everything happening, I needed to find a way and make sure I would take my company back
Amara’s POV“Refill!” I called out for the bartender, letting him refill my glass with more cocktails. Trying to drown my thoughts with everything I could think of at the moment, knowing that there was nothing left for me to run to. I lost it all. My company, the man I thought loved me, and now my reputation is on the line. It was all going down the drain, and there was nothing I could do about it. “Ma’am, not that it’s any of my business, but this is your seventh fill, and you don’t look like you can even walk properly.” I could hear the bartender’s voice, looking up and seeing that everything was blurr,y I couldn’t even see his face. “Great!” I couldn’t even keep my head up, shaking on the table top. “Now i can’t even take more drinks—what else are they going to take from me? My freedom? I know they think this is funny, but they aren’t going to fold me! I’ll get them back for everything!” I pushed myself up from the table, managing to get up. Even though I had the balance o

Amara’s POV. “What are you talking about?” I was looking at the reporters; their gleaming eyes held no secrets, and it was clear as day that the scope they wanted was based on something they heard. “Miss Forger, we would love to know if you are okay after finding out that the man you helped get up to the ranks is now engaged to your sister.” I was not sure what I heard, but for a split second, I forgot how to breathe. It wasn’t true, it couldn't be. I stormed past the reporters, trying to find some air and look for a way to verify if what they were saying was true. Suddenly, my phone began ringing. I didn't know who would be calling me repeatedly, but I knew it was something important if they could reach me. I took out my phone and saw the ID, Trixie.I picked up, she wasn't the type of blast my phone's on nights like this. Not on the knight, I was holding the party for a merger that would take my Empire to the high grounds. “Hello, Trixie, I can't talk—”“Amara, head to Wixton
