Chapter #4

For a moment, it seemed as if he was going to lose his temper too. His strange, pale eyes all but glared at me. But he controlled himself and I was surprised to see why he didn't want to kill me or do anything. Or I am just blind who can't see his reality.

The people around him pushed him back, vanishing him out of my sight. I swallowed a big lump in my throat. As the people around us gathered to hear my misery, I decided not to give them anything to talk about.

" Valentina, just stay away from my family and this is the last time I am telling you." I said in rage after seeing Cassy like that." I can't do any damage to my family anymore.

I turned my back against her and held Cassy's hand and I dragged her out of the main party and I still can't say she is the same girl that I met in first grade. She was rude and mean from the very start, but not with me. But she chose to be all those. that, I held our friendship close to my heart. I hate her. Her malice turned our friendship into a leech that sucked the happiness out of my life. I am glad I finally got to know about her deceit today. Now I can always keep friends like her at bay. I hate her the most.I am never going to talk to her again. Trusting friends like her has put me through a lot of pain. Cheating, betrayal, deception and lies – I never thought such dirty things would break our friendship ties.

" Ahhh! Aisling, you are hurting me. I am not going with you anywhere. I need to go back." Cassy said, and pulled me out of my thoughts. She was wiggling her hand to free herself out of my grip, but no way was I going to let her go back and make another joke of herself, and I fastened up my pace and walking around the lake.

" Aisling, please stop it!" she said.I had enough of this girl. I let her hand go and she began rubbing her wrists.

" Look, what have you done? Why are you doing this to me? Why can't you see me happy?" she barked.

" CASSY YOU'VE DONE A LOT TONIGHT! YOU'RE COMING STRAIGHT WITH ME!" I growled.

" No, I am not going with you. I need to go back to the party. My friends are waiting for me inside." she tried to leave but I blocked the way with my silhouette.

" Stop there! You are not going back. You are coming with me home or I will call father if you are acting stubborn like that."

She took a long pause. She might be thinking of the outcome if I told the father, but obviously, I am not going to call him.

" CALL THE FATHER! AND TELL HIM WHAT WERE YOU DOING OUT OF THE HOUSE AT THIS TIME OF THE NIGHT? DON'T THINK I AM FOOL! I AM WAY MUCH SMARTER THAN YOU!" She screams at me.

I don't know what I did wrong with this girl. Why is she carrying so much hate for me? I am her sister, not her enemy. How am I supposed to convince a stubborn girl like her? As I was thinking about it, her stomach turned inside out, like a glove, and she vomited. These particles of matter showered from her mouth, after she had thought them consumed and digested.

" Cassy, are you okay?" she began throwing up on the side she wasn't a drinker.

" I have water in my car. You just stay here. I'll bring it up for you." I said and she pushed me away from her and I decided to get water for her and I began running towards the gate. I reached halfway across the lake side. I didn't want to leave Cassy alone, but I didn't have a choice.

As I was running to the main gate, and out of the blue, he came out of nowhere and blocked my way out of the gate. I stopped from my tracks after seeing him in front of me. I could feel that he could sense my fear and I could be alone and vulnerable at that moment. I couldn't stand a chance to fight against him. I've seen this a thousand times before, watching the crowd wolf a flock of sheep. Looking for the weak, the slow, the foolish. Only now, I am very much the prey. The foolish sheep for him.

He narrowed his eyes on me and an evil smirk appeared on his face.

" You can't run far away from me." he finally said. And he stepped forward and I stepped backwards. My body was trembling in fear.

" Don't you dare come closer to me." I warned him but he didn't listen to my warning and he advanced towards me. And I was maintaining the distance between us by moving backwards.

" Why are you doing this? What do you want from me?" I gathered some courage to talk to him.

" I don't think so, you are in this situation to ask me questions."

He was mocking me. I could see his mouth beginning to lift in a maddening smirk, a smile that was half sardonic and half secretive, as if the fate of the world depended on the answer to a riddle only he knew and would never share.

" I didn't do anything... I didn't see anything... and I apologize for everything." I apologize for slapping him. God, why did I do it?

" Oh, so you saw everything and who are you going to report?" he asked me, ignoring my apology. He regarded me with black-rimmed golden eyes, a smirk hovering at the corners of his mouth. His black hair tumbles around his face, unbound and a little messy, as though he's recently risen from someone's bed, which he did.

" Report? I am not going to report anyone. I didn't even know you. I just came here for my sister and accidentally, I saw..." I paused, not wanting to recall the details, but I am telling him the truth.

" Why did you run when I told you to stop?" he asked me, and he stopped. I don't want to admit that I am afraid of him, but I don't have a choice besides admitting it... but only if I don't lie.

" I...I-I didn't hear you." I said that was a lie. Indeed, I clearly heard him but ignored him. A gorgeous smile appeared on his face which put me in a state of turmoil to look at him or to not look at him.

" You know, you are not a bad liar for someone who believes in this shit!" he caught my lie... of course, he did what else I expected from him. I ran away after smacking him. Oh, God, what do I do? What do I do to make him believe or run?

" Let's make a deal, if you tell me who you work for. I might think of not killing you, " he said. I was flabbergasted by his statement. And believed that he thinks I am a super spy who was sent by his enemies to follow him. No wonder why he thinks his enemies want to kill him? I also wanted to do the same, but I don't have the power to do it and I don't trust him at all. He said he wanted to kill me. Nope, I don't trust this man at all.

He crossed his arms to his broad chest, waiting for me to speak or say something, but I was thinking about the plan of getting rid of him.

" This is the last time I am telling you I work for no one and nobody sent me. I've come to take my sister back to bring her back home but she is so stubborn as a mole who doesn't want to go with me." I have made it clear. His phone began to ring and he ignored it.

" Do you think I believe you? Then you are absolutely wrong." he hissed.

His phone began to ring again in his pocket and he took his phone out of his pocket and glanced at the phone screen. He was distracted by the phone and I looked to my right side and decided to make a run in the woods towards the lake.

I run,I run hard, my feet pounding the gravel path with heavy footsteps.Wind bustled through the branches of the trees, making the leaves howl in their symphony. Running along the gravel path in the woods makes me realize how intricate the clash between weather and nature can be. Two natural forces both in harmony and constantly fighting. The rain was going to come down any second; its distinct smell was filling the air. Plush, intertwining clouds pushed their grey front towards where I was going...The trees continued their protest against the wind as it blew their seeds to the ground. Maple seeds twirled down, only to get stuck on my clothes and in the creek. As the rain drops pelt my hoodie. My breathing is hard and still,in and out,my air goes, trying to keep a steady pace for me to run longer. My legs hurt as I run and I feel my knees ache as they come in contact with the logs on the forest floor, but I can't stop.I can't ever stop. The adrenaline surges through my body, rushes through every vein, and flows through my blood, making me feel exhilarated.

I've tried to transform into my wolf form to run faster, but my stubborn wolf doesn't want to come when my life is in danger. I couldn't run much faster with those human legs.

I heard a loud growl and I knew he was chasing me and I was running like a maniac and didn't know where I was going? It was dark in the woods and I couldn't see far ahead.

My fists pound the air as I run, sweat trickles down my brow, meeting my lips and I taste the saltiness of my perspiration. The sky is getting heavy and the shadows of the darkness drape themselves around me.

I heard the sound of the water getting closer and closer and I knew I was closer to the lake and I quickly made my way there and once I reached there, I found the lake. The lake appeared as if by magic as we crested the ridge. It was teardrop-silver in color and it was shaped like a perfectly flat disc of metal. No sound rang out from the shimmering emptiness of space around it. The monastery was quiet, it was lined with pine trees and the whiff of mint wafted up to us. I decided to make my way to its decanter clear shore. The idyllic scene took my breath away. Unruffled by rain, it was still a vault and restful. The only sounds were the bumbling of bees and the heavy echo of a raven crawling.

Out on the lake, flopping trout were slapping the surface. They were hoping to catch one of the squadron of flies that buzzed about. The heaven-leaking light added a white tint to the face of the lake.

I caught my breath and looked down. I can see a slope to go down. As I stepped forward due to the mud, I couldn't get a stronger grip and fell on my face on obsidian rocks..
