"Your mother would be proud of you," Sera said. "You know that don't you?"

I had been standing in that clearing for exactly thirty seconds before she said it and mehn I was not ready for it, I was not ready at all, and I turned away from her immediately because I was not going to do whatever my face was trying to do in front of this woman.

"Don't," I said.

"Jordan—"

"I said don't," I said. "Please."
