POV Willa

I looked over at West as we climbed the stairs up to our rooms. I may have been pissed at him earlier for the shit that happened with the phone dude but I still loved him. He was the only one that had stuck with me for all these years. The ONLY person in this whole world who understood me. We were a matching set.

I was worried about him. I knew that he had bonded with the boys today. I knew that he wanted to let them in. I understood why too.

He had always taken too much on his shoulders. He felt like he had to protect me and I got that, I felt the same about him. The difference is that he felt like he should have been able to save Mom too. Why? Who knows. I blame society telling him that since he was the dude in our family, he had to protect us poor, innocent ladies. Utter bull shit. I told him that too. Many times. It didn't seem to help.

The result was he felt guilty and because he felt guilty, he blamed himself whenever someth
