Adam’s POV

The word "pregnant" had echoed in my skull all day.

Pregnant.

I stared at the test results she’d shoved in my face hours ago, the date bold at the top: a month ago. Exactly the last time we’d been together, before the fight that burned everything to the ground.

I’d wanted to throw the papers away. Wanted to believe it was fake, another ploy, another way to drag me back into the cycle of her tears and accusations and manipulations. Our relationship had been a battlefield, and she’d always known how to twist the knife.

But the test results weren’t forged. I’d checked. The clinic was legitimate. The doctor’s signature is real.

So I couldn’t escape the truth.

It was my child.
