Liam’s POV

“You need to come back to Manhattan with us. Your brother is losing it.”

I let out a dry laugh. “Ian doesn’t lose anything. Especially not his mind.”

“No,” the werewolf said, lips curling over his teeth. “But he’s losing his morals.”

I didn’t flinch. Instead, I tilted my head, studying him.

“You know, when I said I’m listening, I expected some kind of explanation. Not vague, cryptic shit. I’m not fucking Sherlock.”

“Steven.”

I straightened. “What about him?”

“So the name does ring a bell. I heard he was ‘punished,’” he said, air-quoting the last word.

“Steven disobeyed a direct order. He went rogue.”

The wolf shook his head. “He didn’t. That’s the lie Ian wanted you to believe.”

“Ian wouldn’t lie to me. Transparency is one of the traits that makes him a good leader.”

A wave of scoffs rippled through the wolves. The man raised a hand again, silencing them.

“Transparency? Or manipulation? Let me ask you something, heir to the Nocturnus clan.”

I didn’t let my surprise show. No

  • The Devourer: A Vampire's Curse   Chapter 53

Raina’s POVI’d expected the house to still look like Velmoran had ripped through it. The broken window, the overturned furniture, the TV in pieces—everything. But when I stepped inside, it was spotless. The air even smelled different, cleaner, like fresh lemon polish. The window was whole, the TV and center table fixed, and everything looked brand new.For a moment, I just stood there, staring, confused. This wasn’t the disaster I’d walked away from.Nina. It had to be Nina.My guess was she’d convinced the sheriff to help, but she was nowhere to be found.“Nina?” I called out, making my way to the kitchen. “You here? It’s me.”No response.Only the pounding of a heart—frantic, too fast. Paired with shallow, quick breaths.Someone was behind me.I whirled around, hands ready to strike.“Oh—jeez. It’s just you,” I sighed, lowering my stance.Nina.She stood in the doorway, eyes locked on me. Her posture was stiff, like every muscle in her body was braced for impact. Her expression fli

  • The Devourer: A Vampire's Curse   Chapter 52

Liam’s POV My head was a battlefield. First, it had been the werewolves trying to get me to turn against Ian. Now, it was Raina. And both gave solid reasons. But Raina's—hers was the one setting my mind at war.I'd almost been certain Raina was Mel, even though logic and everyone else insisted otherwise. Because at times, it felt like I could sense Mel in her. If what Raina said was true, that would be the last straw. If I could get proof to back up her claim, I swear I'd be the one to end my brother. Until then, I had to play it smart—stay on both sides.I buried my doubts, kept my expression blank, my posture calm, as I walked into my apartment. I already knew Ian and Ysra would be waiting.A wide basin filled with blood-red water lay in the center of the dining room. Ysra stood in front of it, chanting in a low, guttural language I didn't understand.I frowned and turned to Ian, who lingered behind her. "What's going on?"He held a finger to his lips, then gestured toward the door

Liam’s POV"You killed her!" I screamed, the words ripping from my throat like shards of glass. My voice cracked. I rushed to Raina, her body crumpling to the ground as her eyes rolled into her head. "Ysra, what did you do?!"Ysra’s face was pale but calm, her arm slowly lowering. "I didn’t kill her," she said quietly. "It was only enough to knock her out. She’s not dead."I dropped to my knees beside Raina and lowered my ear just over her chest. Relief hit me like a wave when I heard the faint rhythm of her heart. Unsteady but present. Her breathing was shallow, but it was there."She needs to rest," Ysra added, her tone clipped. "We don’t have time to argue. Get her out of here."Ian was already pulling out his phone. "We can’t risk another outburst like that. We're taking her home.”I scooped her into my arms, guilt and helplessness clawing at me. Her head lolled against my chest, strands of hair sticking to her bloodied neck. I flew us off the roof without another word.My apartme

  • The Devourer: A Vampire's Curse   Chapter 50

Raina's POVAll I could see was red.I had woken up on the cold concrete to find Ysra and Liam talking. I’d wanted to call out to them, but the moment I opened my mouth, my teeth elongated. Liam’s veins pulsed with black blood, vivid and tempting. The hunger within me was unlike anything I'd ever felt, and so I ran.I hid behind trees. Walked only in the shadows. Still, the urge to feed wouldn't leave me. I stayed off the roads, avoiding humans like the plague. They had turned me into one of them. Feeding on blood instead of actual food. Yet, the urge to lunge myself at the humans passing by me on the road wasn't as strong as when I'd woken with Liam close by.I staggered forward, clutching the wound where I'd been stabbed. My skin had healed. It was more of a phantom pain, a burning desire to turn back and go after him. To seek revenge. But there would be no difference between them and me if I couldn't resist. That's why I fought. I refused to go back.Until the rich, decadent scent

Liam's POVIan was barking orders at the four humans he'd compelled to help search for Raina when I entered the room he'd booked for Ysra to perform a locator spell.“I already checked the vicinity. There’s no sign of her,” I said, hovering by the door. “Don’t you think we should call off the party? It’s basically an all-you-can-eat human buffet down there for her.”“It doesn’t matter,” Ysra replied, spreading ash dust over the map of Windshade that she’d cleaned up from her last spell. “If she comes back, it’ll be to feed on you, not them. Right now, I fear she’s substituting her hunger for you with random strangers on the road.”As the humans left the room, Ian turned his attention to her.“Could we take her, since she hasn’t fed yet?”“Whoa, what do you mean ‘take her’?” I asked, stepping between him and Ysra, my eyes flicking between the two of them.Ysra paused in her preparations and took my hand. “She has to die, Liam. She’s awakened her powers. That makes her dangerous—not jus

  • The Devourer: A Vampire's Curse   Chapter 48

Liam's POV“It all happened so fast. The creature caught you all off guard. It knocked you unconscious and when you woke up, Garett was dead and Raina was missing.”Nina blinked as the compulsion took root in her mind. I lowered my hands from her face and turned to where I'd laid Raina's lifeless body on the couch. Her hands rested over the wound where I had stabbed her. Her eyes stared blankly, unblinking. Rigor mortis had already set in—her skin pale, her body stiff. The sight pierced through me, but I couldn't take her away yet. Not until I was sure her friend would be safe.I heightened my senses, straining to listen. The faint wail of approaching sirens reached my ears, they were close. I faced Nina again.“Stay here until the police arrive,” I said gently. “I’m taking your friend with me.” I rose to my feet, but her hand shot out, gripping my leg.“Please.. please save her,” she begged, her voice cracking as another wave of sobs overtook her. “Don’t take Raina away from me.”Th
