JULIUS’S POV

The sound of my boots on the pavement was too loud, almost accusing, as I hurried away from that loser’s face before I was moved to punch a hole through his ugly, stupid face. Who the fuck did he think he was, talking to me like that? He was a nobody, a rogue for all I cared.

I yanked the car door open and got inside before slamming it shut, harder than I meant to. A few people looked over, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. My pulse was still pounding in my ears, and when I blinked, all I could see was him.

Aaron. Still standing there with that smug face, like he had already won something that wasn’t even his to begin with. How fucking dare he?

Turning on the ignition, I put the car into drive mode, my hands tightening around the steering wheel until my fingers ached. His words wouldn’t stop echoing in my head. “Get your hands off my mate.” The way he said it, so sure, like it was some known fact. Like Angela belonged to him now and I was nothing but some old stain she

  • Fate Or Mates   0170:Life Ruining Secrets

Angela’s POVThe tears dried into cold, tight tracks on my skin. The silence of the library wasn’t peaceful. It was heavy, pressing down on me like the weight of everything I now knew. My wolf was still a sorrowful, quiet presence inside me, and that was perhaps the worst part. She was my strength, my fire, and she felt completely extinguished. The distant, muffled sounds of the pack going about its morning routine felt like they were coming from another world. A world where people didn’t have to question the very fabric of their family, their love, their right to exist in the space they occupied. The thought was a sharp stone in my gut. Aaron would come back from the execution. He would come looking for me. He would be carrying the weight of that death, and the far heavier weight of what we now knew about my father. How could I meet his eyes? What could my presence possibly offer him except a reminder?A soft rustle at the library entrance made me freeze. It wasn’t Aaron’s confident

  • Fate Or Mates   0169: It's Complicated

ANGELA’S POVI made it back to our room, and the door shut behind me with a soft, final sound. It sealed me inside the quiet. This space had always been our sanctuary, but now it felt like a beautifully decorated cage.I could still smell him here, that clean scent of pine and crisp winter air that was uniquely Aaron. It used to calm me. Now it only reminded me of the chasm that had just opened between us.I had promised him I would stay here. That I would be safe. But how was I supposed to stay still when my whole world was a lie, and that lie had just exploded? My father. The words no longer made sense together. The man who had tucked me in at night, who had scolded me for scraped knees, who had beamed with tears in his eyes at my mating ceremony—that man was a killer. Not just any killer. He had murdered Aaron’s parents. He had looked into the eyes of the boy who would become my mate, knowing he had just made him an orphan. My stomach heaved. I stumbled to the bathroom and gripped

  • Fate Or Mates   0168:A Walk Through Thorns

Aaron’s POVThe movement was so sudden, so desperate, it broke the terrible trance that held David and me. Her name tore from my throat. It was a raw, ragged sound. But she was already gone. She vanished down the path back toward the pack house. The forest swallowed the sound of her fleeing footsteps.Every instinct in my body screamed to go after her. To chase her. To catch her. To pull her into my arms and… and what? What could I possibly say? I’m sorry my parents’ murderer is your father? The bond between us was a screaming chorus of her pain.It was a tsunami of betrayal and revulsion so strong it nearly brought me to my knees. She wasn’t just running from David. She was running from the blood that connected them. From the man who loved her, but who now represented the destroyer of everything. My gaze snapped back to David. He was sliding down the trunk of the oak tree, dissolving into silent, heaving sobs, his face buried in his hands. The sight of him, the cause of all this ruin

  • Fate Or Mates   0167: The Secret Is Out

AARON’S POVThe air just before dawn was cold. It was a gray kind of cold, heavy with the promise of rain and the smell of wet dirt. It fit the heaviness I carried inside.I walked toward the cleared circle of ground at the edge of the training field. My steps felt too loud. Each one was like a drumbeat leading me to a place I never wanted to be. I was not just ending Kimberly's life today. I was cutting the last string of not knowing. I was stepping all the way into the nightmare where the father of my mate was the man who killed my parents. The guards fell into step behind me. They were quiet. Respectful. A few senior warriors were already waiting at the edge of the circle, and they nodded to me, their faces solemn. I kept my own face like stone. Inside, it was all cracks. Then there was a sound. A commotion from the crowd. A figure broke from the path that led from the guest quarters, running. His steps were uneven. It was David Hunters. He skidded to a stop right in front of me, h

  • Fate Or Mates   0166: Broody's Big Secret

ANGELA’S POVThe afternoon had gone quiet and slow. I stayed with my mom for most of it. We didn’t talk much. We just sat, and the silence felt like its own kind of weight. After she finally drifted off, I came back to our room. I felt empty. I was curled by the window, watching the light get thick and golden, when the door opened. Aaron came in.My heart did that thing it always does, that little leap at the sight of him. Then it dropped. Just sank. Something was wrong. He moved stiffly, like he was tired in every bone. He didn’t come to me. He just stood there, his eyes fixed on nothing, somewhere far away. Our bond usually feels like a low, steady warmth. Now it felt jagged. There was a turbulence coming from him, a dark and churning storm I couldn’t see. It wasn’t anger. It was heavier than that. It felt like grief and rage, all twisted into one knot. It’s everything. Kimberly. My dad. The shame of it all. It’s pressing down on him. Of course it is.“Hey,” I said softly. I uncurle

  • Fate Or Mates   0165:My Reality Breaking

AARON’S POVShe smiled. It was a thin, cruel slash. She leaned back against the wall, the picture of smug satisfaction staring back at me. “Come now, Alpha. Do better than that. You think I spent all my years skulking around the edges of power and didn’t pick up a few secrets? Little whispers traded in dark corners when people forget the poor Omega girl is there.”The cold inside me ignited into a white-hot fire. A snarl ripped from my throat, a sound more beast than man. I crossed the cell in two strides, my hand shooting out to grip the front of her tunic. I hauled her up until her feet barely scraped the floor, slamming her back against the stone wall.“Tell me,” I growled, my face inches from hers. My control, my icy calm, was gone, vaporized. The ghost of woodsmoke and blood, the scent of my family’s burning car, filled my nose. “You tell me what you know. Right now.”She gasped, her hands clawing at my wrist, but the fear in her eyes was mixed with a hideous glee. She had me. Sh
