Chapter 69. The Last Bloodline

The air felt different tonight. Usually, she could hear the sounds of night animals, but tonight they didn't make a sound. Damelza felt something uncomfortable tonight, like something bad was coming. Her pair of round eyes gazed up at the crescent moon in the sky. There were no stars in the sky and the wind was so strong that the trees were swaying.

“Austin, it's okay.” Damelza held her son, who was whimpering in his sleep. The baby wriggled his body as if he were uncomfortable with the night wind that hit his body. Damelza tried to warm her son by hugging him tightly. “Baby, Mama is here. I will protect Austin at all costs. It's okay, don't cry.”

Suddenly, Austin burst into tears, making Theo come into the room. The man's face looked haggard, having just fallen asleep. A lot of work required him to stay in the office next to his son's room.
