#4

EMILY could feel a rush of dread wash over her, tightening her muscles even more. Eyes widening, her gaze focused on the lycan standing before her.

He was the most feared Alpha because he was the direct descendant of the Primordial Lycans, who were one of the strongest lycans ever. They possessed indescribable powers and abilities that normal werewolves don’t have.

Primordial lycans were the only ones who could outsmart the powers of vampires and even witches, and the rumor that they ate werewolves’ flesh was well known to every pack.

That was why no pack had ever tried to deal with them.

Their Alpha was practically a beast.

Now, here she is—the one who accidentally set foot on their land. It seemed to her that the Moon Goddess’ idea of fun was completely different, as Emily felt that she found pleasure whenever she put her in nerve-racking circumstances.

Perhaps she didn’t like her because she had no wolf, which is why, after Jacob’s attempt to rape her, the Moon Goddess used her great manipulation skills and threw her into this situation to seemingly test her worth.

“You look instantly sick, little mutt,” the other lycan, who was called Jude, mocked her as he laughed, before he licked his lower lip. “I wonder what you taste like once I chew your flesh in my own mouth. Metallic sweet, hmm?”

Emily’s mouth formed a thin line. She shook her head and stepped back. “No, I refuse to be eaten by filthy creatures like you!”

His laughter echoed in the forest. “I really like your angst. It’s just unfortunate that this will be your last dreadful night.”

“Stop right now, Jude,” the Alpha growled loudly.

She almost jumped at hearing him. His growl was menacing, beastly.

Her head had gotten fuzzier and she had become disoriented because of the unbearable cold of the snow and of the creeps that engulfed her. But she couldn’t let her life end this way.

This wasn’t worth her escape.

Despite her legs wobbling, she shot the Alpha a deadly glare. He looked at her in an intense way, like a lion topped with a powerful crown, and seemingly wanted her to follow his rules or else he’d tear her body apart.

“Alright. I’m done playing,” Jude stated as he raised both of his arms. “Mind link me if you decide to kill that wolfless rogue. I will be glad to take part and slash her neck for me to taste it firsthand.”

“No.” Emily shook my head, gritting her teeth firmly.

Seconds later, that arrogant lycan shifted back into his beast form and ran away.

Now, she was left with the most feared Lycan—the beast who led his animalistic pack.

The Lycan King…

He breathed heavily. Another growl escaped his throat that made Emily shudder. She raised her fists despite not knowing how to swing them at him.

“From which pack did you come, rogue?” He asked in a deep, wary voice.

“Do you normally interrogate your prey, beast?”

His jaw clenched. She could even hear the sound of his teeth gritting. Even if she was facing the most feared beast hiding inside a gorgeous male human body, her smart mouth could hardly be stopped. Emily knew it would get her in trouble, so she castigated herself inwardly.

She needed to prepare in case he chose to be violent, even if her body didn’t feel good anymore.

Shit!

Her hands shook while she fisted them.

Come on, Emily!

His wayfarer blue eyes surveyed her entire body. For a split second, Emily felt violated, seeing the rudeness and insult in the way he stared at her. However, when their gazes met, her breath hitched.

‘How come a beast like him looks so fascinating?’ she thought.

“You’re injured. Your heartbeat isn’t doing well. You’re going to faint in no time.”

She swallowed hard. He was right.

“So… do you wait until I faint before you eat me?” She fired at him.

His lips curled into a smirk as he watched her, amused. “That’s not how I usually eat women’s flesh. But I’d be happy to spare some time and show you how I actually do it.”

Her forehead creased in confusion. However, the moment her disoriented mind was able to process what he just said, her cheeks turned red.

“I… I don’t know what you are up to, but I won’t let you do anything you want with me!” Emily shouted bravely.

The next thing she did was run away from him in hopes that she could exit their land, but before she could even reach the river where she had crossed earlier, the air made a loud whoosh, and in a blink of an eye, the primordial Alpha was already in front of her without breaking a sweat.

“It looks like a little pup lost her way.” He snarled.

She screamed.

His speed was unbelievable! One second later, he was standing before her, blocking my way. Then, a second later, he advanced, grabbed her, and she felt a wild wind brush against her skin. Emily had to shut her eyes. Her heart rate picked up the second she opened them, and as her gaze roamed around, she gasped, seeing multiple cells surrounding us.

Did they just teleport?

The cries of the prisoners sent shivers up her spine.

“Where did you take me?” She pushed him immediately and looked around.

She could only suck in a breath. The prisoners looked terrible, like they were about to die from physical disease and starvation.

How could someone do such cruelty?

“You can tell the obvious, little rogue.” He chuckled darkly. “They are the dogs who dared enter my land. It’s amusing to watch them slowly die because of their recklessness.”

Fear struck her as she envisioned the same fate she would face at the hands of the beast. Her lower lip trembled. Tears started to pool on both sides of her eyes, but she refused to cry.

She turned around to meet his amused, dark gaze.

“What exactly do you want?” A simple question, yet she used all her remaining strength in her voice.

He stepped forward and grabbed her jaw so tightly that it made her whimper.

“You. I want you—”

“What’s in it for you?!” She raised my voice. “Just let me go!”

He shook his head. “A rogue like you can never leave this land alive.”

“Then what do you want from me, you monster?!” She yelled in panic, and then she shoved his hand away.

He laughed. Emily didn’t like how it sounded. It made her so frightened that her bravery faded away. Even the prisoners inside the cells surrounding them were terrified. It was as if they had seen the villain in their nightmares.

“Do you ever think that a monster isn’t born, but rather made?”

A cold breeze passed over her, making her tremble badly. Her gaze lowered, and she found a huge rock. Emily took it and threw it at him, but he just caught it and clutched it until it turned into dust.

He stepped forward, and she stepped away from him. She shuddered when she felt the cold cell against her back.

She gasped, her lips parted, as she stared up at the Alpha, who had no trouble cornering her.

He banged his fist on the cell, and she almost cried underneath him.

“You ask what I want from you.” He inhaled hard as he eyed her intently. “No pressure, but the beast in me tells me that you are my goddamn mate. Whether you like it or not, you’re going to serve me.”

‘What the fucking hell? Mate? Damn, no!’ her mind screamed.
