Panic increased in Emily's chest, her mind utterly haywire. Her heart pounded so loud that she couldn’t breathe. After learning the bad news from Alpha Atlas Kane, she sprinted out of his office, not minding these human employees who might have seen her use her heightened speed.

It only took a minute for her to be able to go home, and she instantly went to Lia, who was in the living room together with the kids, Elle and Nia.
