LOGINElora’s POV
War drums weren’t rumors anymore, they were banging right in our faces. By sunrise, the whole training yard was a madhouse. Blades getting sharpened, blacksmiths hammering away like they were trying to break the sky. Dante was hunched over the map table, cracking his neck, looking about ten years older than yesterday. Neither of us had slept... no real surprise there. He traced the map with a finger, red markers crawling along our border, the route the enemy was taking plain as day. “They’ll hit the eastern valley,” he muttered, matter-of-fact, like he was reading out the weather. “It’s the only stretch wide enough for that many boots. But it’s the move everyone expects.” I leaned in, following where he pointed. “So, you want archers on the ridge?” He nodded, eyes a little wild. “Make ‘em climb for it. By the time they reach us, they’ll be half-spent. We might actually stand a chance.” Nobody wanted to flat-out disagree with Dante, but nobody was jumping to say yes, either. “He’s right,” I said, and my voice cut through everything. Heads snapped my way. “If we spread too thin, we’ll snap in half the second Luca’s rogues show up. We hold the east. We dig in on the ridge. Make them bleed for every step.” Silence. Then the oldest general, a grumpy old wolf with scars like tree roots, grunted. “The lady’s talking sense.” My chest finally loosened, but I kept my face blank. As everyone split to bark orders, Dante caught my eye. There was something in his look...pride, maybe, but he’d never say it out loud. Didn’t have to. It was enough. Once the warriors cleared out, I let out a shaky breath. “They’re terrified,” I mumbled. “You can feel it. In the walls. Every stare, every whisper.” He didn’t sugarcoat. “So are you.” Didn’t bother arguing. “Yeah. But they can’t see that.” His mouth twitched. “Then don’t let ‘em.” Afternoon hit, and the castle turned upside down. Rations divided up, medics drilling, kids bundled off to the caves out west. I bounced from task to task, checking lists, blessing swords, trying to calm omegas who looked ready to bolt. But fear was everywhere. Like, you could taste it in the air. Near the kitchen, I overheard whispers—two omegas bent over sacks of food, voices sharp as knives. “They say the Alpha’s too weak to fight,” one hissed. “If Dark Storm wins, Lady Mira’s coming back. She’ll take over again, spare the ones who sided with her.” The other nodded, quick. “Heard she’s already making deals with Blood Fang. We’re screwed.” My heart did a weird, tight thing. Mira’s name was a curse in these halls, a ghost that wouldn’t quit, even after she was gone. Her shadow still stretched everywhere. I stepped in, and the omegas froze. “Luna...we, um...we weren’t...” “I know,” I said, keeping it gentle. “Just get the rations done.” They skittered off, guilty as hell. Dusk. The courtyard is packed, the sky is burning orange and red like the end of the world. Armor rattling, banners snapping, the whole place stinking of nerves and iron. I climbed the steps, heart hammering. Dante stood beside me, steady as a rock. “You ready?” he murmured. “Nope,” I said, honestly. “But I’m doing it anyway.” He smiled barely. “That’s what makes you better than most.” I turned to face them, hundreds, all eyes locked on me. Wolves. People. All of ‘em hoping for something. And for once, I didn’t feel tiny. “My pack,” I started, voice mostly steady, hands shaking just a little. “We’ve seen darkness before. Lost brothers, mates, homes to war. But we’ve never ever bowed our heads and given up.” A low rumble ran through the crowd. “They say the Dark Storm Pack is coming for us,” I went on, louder now. “They say Mira rides with them, that we’re outnumbered, that we should just roll over and survive on our knees.” I scanned the crowd, locking eyes with each one of them, trying not to flinch under the weight of all that hope and fear tangled together. “That’s not us,” I said, louder than I meant to, voice cracking just a little. “That’s not what Dominic wanted for us. He might not be here, I know he’s not...but his stubborn will? It’s alive in all of you. Like it or not.” You could practically hear the mood shifting, like a wire tightening and then snapping loose. People straightened up. Someone wiped their nose on a sleeve. Maybe it was me. I took a step closer, heart banging around in my chest. “They’re coming. No point pretending otherwise. They want to shatter us. But we don’t shatter, not for anyone. We fight. For our land, for our people, for whatever comes after tonight. Let them see...Alpha down or not, the pack’s still breathing.” Silence. Not the comfortable kind. It was sharp, almost electric, and I swear, time held its breath. Then, out of nowhere, someone slammed a fist to their chest. Then again. And again. Until the noise built, rolling through the crowd like a storm breaking loose. Fists everywhere. Hearts pounding so loud I felt it in my bones. “For the pack!” someone yelled, voice cracking like thunder. “For the pack!” everyone else roared back. The ground legit shook. Or maybe it was just me, hard to tell, honestly. My eyes burned with tears, probably, but I blinked them away. No time for that. And then I saw Dante, standing off to the side, staring like he’d never really seen me before. Not just a teammate or whatever. Something else. Something dangerous. He leaned close, voice all rough and low, just for me. “You were made for this,” he said, and I almost laughed, except I kinda wanted to cry. For a second...just a second...I actually believed him. I threw my fist up, and the whole pack howled, wild and fierce. And in that tiny sliver of time, I wasn’t scared. Not even a little. I felt like Luna.Dominic’s POV I stared at Elora. She is the real Luna of this pack. She was always so ready to do things for the pack. She has gone through a lot for this pack. My mind rolled back to when we were little and she would always say things she would do for the promise she would become Luna. I always laughed, and to him, he rages and makes a great Luna. Although I never believed it then, I just said comfort to her. But look at her now... the only thing different here is that she is married to me instead of Dante. She loves Dante much more than she loves me, that I could tell, but the bond was stronger. I love her too, but my brother and I can possibly share her because of the love and the bond between the three of us. Elora would be our Luna, She would be both our wife, and Luna. This was the only thing I would do for my brother and her. I made my brother my Co Alpha so we can both be with Elora. The full moon climbed above us, old and bright, a silver coin tossed into midnight velv
Elora’s POVThey used to say peace came quietly. But honestly, it never crashed in like a battle or scorched like heartbreak. It just slipped in, soft as dawn, slow and gentle, so easy to miss until, one morning, you noticed the birds were singing again. The Crescent Moon was finally mending. The smoke stopped rising from the broken borders. Laughter started to echo where pain and crying used to fill the air, real laughter, the kind that wraps around you and promises things will get better. And me? I wasn’t sitting on a throne or standing next to any Alpha. I was right there in the middle of it all, with my people. Most mornings, I went to do my Luna duties. I help rebuild broken homes, paint houses, and make sure the children and adults are being treated well in the healer's chambers. I took care of nursing mothers and made sure there were enough supplies to last for the day. Nobody was left unattended. The young warriors still in training often trailed after me while I inspected the
Dante’s POVHaving Elora fully back was something that lifted a happy mood in me. Although I didn't like the fact that we both had to share her, and I am not sure how, there was nothing I could do. I only wanted her to live and that was enough for me. I didn't want to be greedy. When Dominic sank his fang into her neck, I felt something in me snap. It was like him touching something that was not his in the first place. But he is my brother and there was nothing I could do. He was the Alpha and Elora was his wife. Even if she were my mate, I couldn't possibly stop her husband from trying to save her life. After we were done reconnecting, I left for my room to freshen up and catch a little sleep that I've been missing for quite some days. I was sure Elora was fully recovered now and would not slip in and out of consciousness anymore. Immediately, my head hit the bed after my cold shower, and I drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and I needed to be clear-headed
Elora’s POV I stared at the empty space within me with the moon goddess's voice echoing around me. She seemed to be humming a song. Everywhere felt so peaceful and I wished I could stay here for a little while. Back in the real world, I didn't want to take part in a lot of evil. I felt a sudden jerk and jumped."What is that?" I asked the moon goddess."You are being called back to life. It looks like your time with me has ended," She said, her voice soft."But I don't want to go just yet. At least not until everything is settled between the two brothers," I argued."Elora. This isn't about you. Your devotion to the pack is what has kept the brothers alive. If you don't go back to them, I'm afraid of the outcome," I shook my head violently. This isn't happening"Then at least tell me who I am going to choose," I pleaded."They are both yours..."Before I could make out what she had meant, I felt my body being pulled back as I tried to resist. When I opened my eyes, the air felt of
Dominic’s POVElora’s breathing was shallow. Each breath she took gave me a scare. It felt like forever, and my heart raced so hard. Her skin was really pale, and the mark Dante left was disappearing fast.“No,” Dante choked out, shaking her. “No, no, stay with me—Elora, please!”The healer’s hands trembled over her herbs and glowing bottles. She couldn’t pick one, couldn’t commit. Her voice cracked. “Her energy’s fading… her spirit’s slipping!” Her eyes darted to me, wide and scared. “If one bond won’t hold, let it pass through both. Bite her, Alpha.”I froze.Me? Bite her?I looked down. Elora’s lips parted, her face too still. I forced myself to breathe and met Dante’s eyes. He looked as if he would snap. “Don’t touch her,” he snapped. “She’s mine.”The healer’s voice cut through everything, sharp and furious. “You fool! If she dies, she’s no one’s!”Dante’s jaw clenched. That anger washed away, replaced by fear. His eyes flicked to mine. He swallowed, then nodded, slow and stiff
Elora’s POVMy chest squeezes up tight, first that low, annoying ache, then bam, it’s like a fist yanks the air right out of my lungs. I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but nope, the words just... melt. The room spins and goes all watercolor blurry.“Elora?” Dante’s voice, all echoey and weird, comes at me from somewhere underwater. Then the universe just flips sideways. The floor's gone. I’m weightless, but someone’s arms are strong; catch me before I faceplant. My head lolls back. I hear Dominic yelling for the healer, but his voice is just noise, buried under this ringing that’s taken over my brain.“Elora, look at me!” Dante’s voice cracks, desperate. He grabs for my wrist, checking for a pulse. I catch a glimpse of his eyes, those ridiculous golden eyes that always made me feel safe, they’re wide with panic now.“I can’t... she’s not...” the healer stammers, and honestly, that’s not what you want to hear right now.Everything dissolves into chaos. Hands everywhere, pressing cold c
