LOGINAuroras POV
Damn, Damn, Damn is all I could think about when I laid eyes on the person with the most intoxicating smell and as luck or the Goddess herself would have it is none other than Maverick. Boy he definitely grew into his body that is for sure. 6’4” of beautifully Sunkissed skin, the same emerald, green eyes and platinum blonde hair.
Aurora, you have to speak instead of just staring and drooling, I mean I understand but use your brain and let me drool, said Violet
Violet shut it I know!
Maverick how long has it been I say which broke him out of his trance from staring at me. He clears his throat and states too long Aurora how have you been? I didn’t know you were working here. Yeah, I just started 3 weeks ago after finishing my studies with a master’s in business. So, what brings you back to town as if I didn’t already know he was going to be here today I say. Maverick scratches the back of his neck looking just like the awkward teen I used to know. I umm came to let my father know of some decisions. About that time this petite blonde figure come from behind him looking at Maverick as if she has no other cares in the world. Well babe aren’t you going to tell her or at least introduce me I have never met anyone you grew up with. Um yeah sure sorry Maverick states. Aurora, this is my fiancée Scarlett, Scarlett this is Aurora we grew up together in the pack house as her father is the Beta to my father.
Violet did I just hear him correctly did he say fiancée? What on earth was the goddess thinking of matching me with someone who is already attached.
Oh, Aurora remember you to were already matched before he met her. Remember he left for his studies before he was 18.
Yeah, I know just well damn. I say as I push Violet to the back of my mind.
Scarlett, nice to meet you. Well, I am dropping these files off with your dad. I place the files on his desk and dart out of the office as fast as my feet would carry me in human form. Why did this have to happen when I wasn’t even looking for my mate and just wanted to focus on my career and starting my new life as an adult.
Maverick POV
Well, that couldn’t have gone any better, as I watched Aurora damn near sprint back to her office. I mean not that it was any trouble watching her go since it seems her body was made for me with how round her ass looks in the mustard yellow pencil skirt paired with a white and black geometric blouse. With Scarlett tugging at my sleeve, I looked down and suddenly remember she was there. Um Scarlett my love I will meet you back at the hotel the car will take you there to get checked in. Really Maverick we just got to town, and I wanted you to take me to see a couple of places I have already mapped out from here. Scarlett states with pouty lips and blinking her lashes. I know I say, but it turns out I need to have a few more words with my father after all.
After seeing Scarlett to the car, I return to my father’s office. Well now that your so-called fiancée as you see fit to call her is gone are you going to explain why Aurora came and left in such a hurry? I have yet to see her leave my office in such a hurry since she started here. As a matter of fact she comes in before anyone else and really shows initiative.
Um so yeah you know how I didn’t want to find my mate well it looks like Aurora is my mate, I state as I drop my head into my hands. I am going to reject her as soon as I get my head on straight. You will do no such thing Alexander roars. You will break any and all relations you have with Scarlett immediately and then you will begin your life here with Aurora. Goddess knows she couldn’t have paired you with a more perfect mate Maverick.
Maverick, don’t you dare reject our mate or so help me Goddess I will make sure to make the rest of your life a living hell do you understand me? My wolf Lucas says.
Lucas listen man I am already in love with Scarlett and never intended to find our mate you know this.
Maverick Scarlett was just a plaything I allowed you to consume your time till we found her. So please don’t disrespect our way of life and what the Moon Goddess herself blessed you with. I mean she is even more beautiful than Scarlett and I am not just saying that due to her being our mate.
Okay Lucas, I will give it some thought.
Okay dad it looks like you have Lucas on your side so I will give it some thought until I figure out what to do, I will try sending Scarlett back to Paris till I figure this all out. Son, there is no figuring things out you are to immediately end the relationship you have with Scarlett and begin getting to know your mate, Aurora. Now let me update you on what has been going on here since you left.
The heavy, driving bass of the club music continued to rattle my ribcage. The flashing neon lights still painted the writhing bodies on the dance floor in blinding shades of blue and magenta. The air was still thick with the suffocating heat of a hundred dancing supernatural creatures. But my world had just come to a grinding, violent halt.Winter pine. And warm vanilla. It sliced through the stench of cheap alcohol and sour sweat like a freshly sharpened blade. It was a physical force, wrapping around my throat, flooding my senses, and dragging my inner wolf forward until she was practically clawing at the front of my mind.He is here, Violet purred. Her voice was a dark, vibrating hum of pure, instinctual satisfaction.I froze in the center of the crowded dance floor. My arms dropped slowly to my sides. The vibrant, intoxicating feeling of independence and rebellion I had felt just seconds ago vanished, replaced by a heavy, magnetic pull that I couldn't fight."Aurora?" Missy yelled
SCARLETT'S POVThe water filling the massive, imported marble soaking tub was entirely, gloriously scalding hot.It was exactly what I needed. It was the only physical sensation currently keeping my tense, overworked muscles from completely, violently locking up in a state of pure, absolute panic. The cavernous master bathroom of the Four Seasons penthouse was currently filled with incredibly thick, fragrant white steam. The air smelled heavily, intoxicatingly of crushed lavender and ridiculously expensive, imported French bath salts.I reached out with a trembling hand with perfectly manicured nails.I took a slow, deliberate sip of the vintage red wine from the heavy crystal glass resting precariously on the wide edge of the marble tub.It tasted absolutely bitter. It tasted exactly like ash and failure completely coating my tongue. The afternoon severance meeting had been an absolute, unmitigated, complete catastrophic disaster.Alpha Alexander had sat at the absolute head of the l
The silence that instantly followed Maverick's declaration was absolute. It was not the peaceful, quiet calm of a productive Friday morning in a corporate office building. It was the heavy, suffocating, entirely terrifying silence of a vacuum right before a massive, catastrophic explosion. The air pressure inside my small glass office dropped so rapidly, so violently, that my ears actually popped. Maverick completely filled the doorway. He didn't just stand there. His physical presence entirely consumed the limited space. His broad, incredibly muscular shoulders completely blocked the artificial, fluorescent lighting bleeding in from the hallway, casting long, dark, imposing shadows entirely across the carpeted floor. He was breathing heavily. His chest was rising and falling in sharp, jagged, entirely predatory movements that legitimately threatened to completely rip the expensive, custom-tailored seams of his charcoal suit jacket. But it was his eyes that truly, entirely par
CHAPTER 12: Friday morning arrived with all the grace, subtlety, and sheer destructive force of a massive, uncoordinated train wreck. The corporate headquarters of Xanders Financial was an absolute madhouse. We had a hard, unmovable, entirely unforgiving deadline for the final stages of the Smithson corporate merger, and I was quite literally buried underneath a towering mountain of physical paperwork and glowing digital spreadsheets. My desk looked less like the organized workspace of a junior manager... ...and more like a bomb had gone off inside a high-end stationary store. I had been sitting in this exact, stiff ergonomic chair since six o'clock in the morning. I was desperately, frantically trying to catch up on the hours of critical data entry I had lost over the past three days. Three days that had been entirely derailed due to the massive, six-foot-four, green-eyed distraction that kept forcefully invading my office, my personal space, and my every waking thought. Eve
The penthouse suite of the Four Seasons hotel was originally designed to be a sanctuary. It was supposed to be a glittering, glass-walled testament... ...to the absolute power... ...and the immense, staggering wealth that I was marrying into. Instead... It had become my own personal, incredibly expensive prison. I paced the entire length of the sprawling, open-concept living room. My sharp, red-bottomed stiletto heels clicked rhythmically against the imported, dark Brazilian hardwood floors. Click. Click. Click. The sound echoed sharply through the massive, empty rooms. It was a hollow sound. A lonely sound. Three days. We had been in the city of Dallas for three agonizing, mind-numbing, entirely infuriating days. And in that time, I had seen my supposed fiancé for a grand total of perhaps four hours. "Financial emergencies," Maverick had claimed that very morning. He hadn't even bothered to look me in the eye as he stood in front of the vanity mirror, perfectly knotti
By the time Wednesday morning rolled around, the air inside the Xanders Financial headquarters was absolutely thick with it.Gossip.It hummed through the sleek, modern hallways. It buzzed in the employee breakrooms. It practically vibrated through the frosted glass of my office walls. Everyone... every single person... in the building had noticed. They had noticed that the Alpha’s notoriously elusive son, the playboy who was supposed to be on a romantic vacation with his gorgeous Parisian fiancée, was instead spending ninety percent of his waking hours hovering around the fifteenth floor.Hovering around me.I sat at my desk, my fingers resting motionless over my keyboard. I stared blindly at the complex spreadsheet illuminating my monitor, the numbers blurring together into a meaningless sea of black and white.Inside my mind, Violet was pacing relentlessly. He is close, she hummed, her tail brushing against the edges of my consciousness. I can feel him. He is th
MAVERICK’S POVThe polished mahogany doors of my father’s office loomed before me... heavy... and imposing. For five years, I had successfully avoided this exact room. Five years of European escapades... five years of running from the suffocating weight of the Alpha title. But today... today was d
Maverick’s POVThe heavy silence that followed Aurora’s departure from the restaurant was more suffocating than any physical weight I had ever carried. I remained seated at the table, the scent of her—that agonizingly perfect blend of caramel, rain-drenched apples, and something uniquely Aurora—l
Auroras POVThe weekend had been a blur of Violet’s howling and my own stubborn attempts to scrub the scent of Maverick out of my senses. I had spent most of Saturday and Sunday at my parents' house, trying to hide the fact that my world had been upended. My father, the Beta, had looked at me with
Scarlets POV:As we get back to the room after dinner, I start to rack my brain on just how to find this so-called mate that is threatening everything I have worked hard to achieve. There is no way I will let some nobody just take away the years of hard work, lies, schemes, and deceit that I have d
