Elysia POV

“This is nothing compared to what they do in movies.” Tlyer said, hissing.

I ignored Tlyer but I could see Adrian’s eyes filled with rage and anger, he looked like he wanted to hit Tlyer hard with his bare fist.

However, I reached out to Adrain’s laps and pressed on it. “Pay no attention to this bastard,” I whispered swiftly.

Adrian let out a deep breath, the tension in his body dissolved.

But then, I couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss.

What just happened? I began to wonder, ‘Did he kiss me just to silence them or was it something more?

After we all spent an hour in the restaurant , Tlyer and Alicia stood up to depart.

With a forced smile, they waved us goodbye and strode up.

Adrian had led me out of the restaurant after they left and we walked in silence, I watched him for a while and noticed he wasn’t looking too happy.

“Did I do something wrong?” I muttered underneath my breath. Ever since that kiss, he hasn’t said a word to me.

‘What might be going through his mind?.’ I thought folding my hands behind my back and forcing myself to calm.

Adrian walked me to my room and left without still saying a word and left me in my thoughts.

I slipped quietly into my room and pounced on the bed. I layed still on my bed and started staring at the celling, the memory of the kiss replayed over and over in my head.

I could still remember the look on Tlyer and Alicia face, the image was still fresh in my head. Alicia’s face was washed with jealousy and Tlyer on the other hand, his eyes burned with rage.

Seems like he wanted to pull up another fist fight that’s why he kept on pushing Adrain.

‘But why does it feel like this? Why does my body react like this to him?’ I thought shutting my eyes tightly and squeezing the bedspread. I could still feel the heat of his lips on mine and the taste of him lingering in my mouth.

I just wanted more and wished it hadn’t ended just yet.

‘How can I even trust anyone again after the pain Tlyer caused me?’ I groaned, squeezing my bedspread trying to make the memory of the pain go away.

I think I might be in love with Adrian but I wasn’t ready to listen to my heart. I wasn’t ready to handle another heartbreak.

‘I mean what if I might get hurt again? What if I get my heart shattered into pieces?’ I thought, still shutting my eyes.

Tick Tock, my room was slient like a graveyard, the only noise was the clock that kept on ticking, I was lost in thought.

I rolled over the side of my bed, pulling the covers tighter around me.

My body was drenched with sweat which made me uncomfortable, I stood up and began taking off my clothes then I got into the bathtub to wash myself.

I got out then dried my body and collapsed on the bed, sleep consumed me instantly.

The following morning, buzz of my alarm work me up. I groaned, reaching out to slience it.

I sat up, the sun from my window side kissed my skin.

I rubbed my sleep from my eyes. I stood up, stretching my arms above my head.

I took a loud breath. I walked to the window and pulled the curtains up, letting the morning light fill the room.

“I need to take a shower” I murmured shuffling towards the bathroom.

Then I got into the shower. I stepped under the warm water and allowed the water to calm my nerves, then I got out.

After drying off my body I dressed in comfortable clothes and stood in front of the mirror.

I decided to step out and then, I spotted Adrian. He seem to be sending one of the pack guard on an errand or something. I smiled like a kid in a candy store when I spotted him.

He didn’t seem to notice me. I let out a deliberate cough, hoping to get his attention. He lifted his gaze to mine but swiftly turned his attention back to the pack guard.

Adrian was distant. He had been avoiding me and he barely even looked at me.

My stomach growled and I felt a mix of emotions—worry, Anxiety and something else.

I had no idea what I might have done to him , ‘what did I do this time, or did he regret kissing me? Or was it just a show like Tlyer said.’ I began to wonder, different thoughts were running through my mind.

I decided to myself busy. I walked passed him and headed to the forest, maybe I we be lucky enough to met warrior Joah there so I can resume my training.

Although, I just couldn’t stop thinking about Adrian. My mind kept drifting back to Adrian.

Finally, I got to the forest and lucky me I met warrior Joah there.

She was mentoring new pack guards, I observed her for a while then headed her way .

“My lady,” she greeted me and bowed a bit.

Then we began training after the new pack guard departed.

So far I have improved in dodging attacks, she was trying to hit me and was every fast but I kept dodging.

“Hit me,” I cried out loud, folding my fist and dodging the blows.

I spotted Adrian, he was not too far from where I was training. He seem to have lot on his mind, I wondered what it might be.

I nodded then took my leave from the warrior and approached Adrian.

“A.. Adrain,” I said, stuttering.

“Can we talk?” I asked.

He hesitated, then he nodded and tilted his head facing me.

He stood up and let me to a quiet spot. I stood in front of him, my heart began to thump loudly in my chest.

And for a minute, I didn’t know what to say or how I was going to start the conversation .

I was in my head again, I was trying to process how to start.

“Elysia.” He called my name, bringing me back to reality.

“You’ve been avoiding me Adrain,” I said softly, my voice low.

Adrian sighed, his hand ran through his hair and he placed a strand of hair that was covering his face at the back of his ear. “I’m not avoiding you, Elysia. I just… need some space. And I think we both need time to process some things because a lot has been going on.”

“Process what? Is this about the kiss?” I cried.

He turned his face away, trying to walk away from her. “It’s complicated, Elysia. You won’t understand.”

“But I want to understand,” I pressed and frowned my face stepping closer to him.

“Adrian, I don’t know what exactly you want from me. You kissed me yesterday, and now you’re acting like you don’t care and you keep making me feel I did something wrong.” I said and a twinge of pain hit me.

He let out a deep breath, “It’s not that simple. I care about you, but I really don’t want to rush anything now. Not after everything you’ve been through.”

I swallowed hard, I wanted answers. I wanted to know what that kiss meant also.

“Then what do we do now?” I asked.

Adrian took a deep breath and he folded his arms “We take it one day at a time,” he said.

“Alright, if it’s what you want ,” I said before could say anything, he was already taking few steps away from me.

My jaw dropped has I watched him leave.

I headed back to where I was training, me and warrior Joah resumed the dodging training.

Suddenly I felt my body hitting the ground hard, I felt my soul leaving my body.
