The sun had disappeared by the time we made the U-turn toward the coordinates from Mom's envelope. The fancy wax seal matched the wooden box it came from - some intricate design neither of us recognized.

My stomach dropped when the GPS led us to an elite nightclub. The kind with velvet ropes and bouncers who'd laugh at you without a membership. We idled in the parking lot, engine running, while I tried to process this.

Xavier went to make some calls - probably his pack contacts - while I dug through my phone for info. When he came back, he voiced exactly what I'd been thinking: "We should get a hotel. Research this. There's no way your mom meant for you to come here."
