[15.1] The Task

[Ally's POV]

Something was burning. My nose twitched, and beneath my closed eyelids my eyes moved, trying to cut off the scent.

I slowly opened my heavy eyelids, an immediate pain stretching down every joint of my body. Had I been crushed alive? Is that why my body felt like it had been trampled by a giant and then run over by a big-ass bus?

Groaning, I tried to pry my eyelids wider, hoping to clear my vision but no matter how much I tried it remained blurry and hazy.

With the exit of another groan, I was able to slowly shift my head to the side roughly making out a blurry figure of a woman, gliding gracefully around the room, holding what seemed to be like a…burning branch.

A stick, it was way too small to be a branch

A burning stick? Think Ally...what is that? I prodded my head for the origin of that smell. I knew what that was.
