Bonus Chapter

[hey guys! let's start book 3, shall we? LOl. Merry Christmas everybody! so before we begin book 3, I realized the version of Apod on Good novel (book 2) is the only one that didn't have this chapter. I must have forgotten to post it and for that I'm sorry. Whilst it will take away nothing from book 2, I feel it is essential for Character development and just a recap of some elements in book 1. Please note that the events of this chapter took place in book 2.]

---------------------------------------------

LOCATION: The Supernatural Realm

AREA: Ignere Forest

The shake of the earth, and the pungent smell of burnt grass after the residue of magic, was a clear sign the dragon kind was far from extinct. The King of Dragons stood at the edge of the large plain laid out before him.

The field lay barren and wasted as the last patch of dead brown grass was scorched out of existence. Across this field were twelve large pits and in each of these pits were two dragons battling it out with fire, ash, magic, and the will of a warrior.

Surrounding each and every pit were soldiers of the dragon army watching the fight below, chanting and cheering, each troop for their own, as the smoke from the pit of the charging dragons, rose up and tainted the vast blue sky a deathly grey.

The King, Saga, watched all this with a firm sturdy stance, his large muscled body airing dominance around him, his long hair tied behind him in a man bun, whilst his leather armor clung to his body.

He gritted his teeth as the ground shook again, knowing fully well one dragon had fallen.

"The troops are looking good," his third in command, Hydra Reye commented standing beside him.

Hydra Reye had three other brothers, all identical to him. After all, they were quadruplets.

All four of them had one dragon called Hydra, a four-headed beast who breathed out a deadly mixture of fire and poisonous venom and was the third-largest dragon in the kingdom.

Because they had one dragon, Pete, Gavin, Rey, and Louis could not shift or transform into their beast unless all of them were present which was one of their biggest disadvantages in the instance that one of them was to be captured by the enemy.

However, because if there shared a dragon, even if they were ten thousand miles away from each other, they could still communicate telepathically, and all of them had the blessed speed of a vampire. That is why they were the most useful spies and had the positions of third in command.

King Saga grunted, not bothering to reply as he watched the smoke rising from each of the pits.

"Where are your brothers?" He asked the Hydra

"Gavin and Louis have not yet returned your Majesty, and Pete is with the younger Tydrons.”

He explained.

The King shifted his head slightly, "and how are the Tydrons?" He asked.

Hydra Reye smiled nodding, "They are big," he replied with a slight chuckle.

The Tydrons were the only other species of Hydra in the dragon army.

Born three years before the birth of the golden dragon, they had grown incredibly.

[A/N-If you are a new reader I suggest you read chapter 5 in book 1 on all the types of dragons in the camp]

The difference between the hydra and the Tydrons was three.

Firstly, the hydra was a four-legged dragon with four heads, while the Tydrons, and was a four-headed serpent type of dragon. Meaning, the four of them had the huge scaled body of a snake while they had dragon heads.

Hydra dragons were not as fast in their dragon forms, but Tydrons could slither past faster than any dragon.

A Hydras head could be cut off but replaced by two more while a Tydrons four heads were near possible to tear off due to their hard tough skin.

A hydra was a subspecies of a fire dragon while the Tydrons was a subspecies of cobalt, which means they did not spit red flames but rather venom and as cobalt dragons, they could not do magic but did have magic running through their veins, similar to middle witches.

The King nodded once at this revelation before turning back to face his troops.

"Contact Gavin and Louis, I want an update on the search for my son-"

"Yes, your majesty, excuse me," Hydra Reye replied bowing lowly before leaving the king's presence.

The guards a few feet behind them saluted as he passed by them.

The King needed security not because of his own people but because of all the spies that were being sent to the forest.

After ten thousand years of being 'extinct' as the thought of by the other supernatural creatures, (vampires, Lycans, werewolves, witches, demons) after losing the Megàlos Machi (the great battle between the dragons and the other supernatural creatures), in which the remaining survivors of the dragon army, accompanied by the last of the elves and fae, hid in the Ignere forest which later became known as the dark forest.

Here they grew, multiplied for ten thousand years, till the birth of the rare godlike dragon, a species known as the golden dragons, direct descendants of the sun was born. After the birth of the prince of dragons, Azian, it was soon discovered by the leaders of the outside realm that the dragons were still alive.

The prophecy that lay on the prince of dragons, which was to extinct the other supernatural Species like they once tried to do to them, was a sure guarantee of all the enemies the dragons would have.

The first that broke the barrier of the dark forest was the Vampires.

[A/N-History of the dragons, to get the full story read book/1].

Three months ago had been their last attack, five spies, three died, two escaped heavily wounded, but it was a situation King Saga could not afford to have again.

The dragon army on the other hand had grown. The young boys were now men, able to control their dragons and fight like true warriors.

"Sidion," the King muttered underneath his breath.

The first guard walked toward him, saluting, "My lord,"

"Call Tar-"

"As you wish your highness."

The guard left, leaving the other awaiting a kingly command.

*****

"I don't understand why you’re choosing me for this," Michael replied leaning against the tree, his eyes fixated on a troop of dragon soldiers behind the general of the dragon army, and also King Sagas second in command.

The general, Tar breathed out slowly trying to calm himself from the impudence of the witch man, his tall frame blocking the sunlight, his biceps bulging out of his light cotton shirt, and his hair freshly trimmed shoulder length.

Michael wondered why the general never liked to wear his armor. He figured it was probably to show off his imitating frame because even with no armor on, Tar was still as frightening as ever.

He wasn't known as the ‘Beast of the Fire Dragons,’ for nothing, and his dragon, Flame was the largest and deadliest in the Kingdom.

In earlier years Michael would have been scared to the core at the mere sight of such a man, but in the last thirteen years, he had actually gotten to know this Tar, and he would like to think they were even friends. For this reason and many others, he really had no reason to be scared of Tar. After all, the General could not hurt him in any way, at least not again.

Thanks to that crazy god of Death, he was the definition of immortal.

Tar growled lowly at the irritating man before him, he liked it better the first few years when Michael was scared to death of him.

"Because you're a witch, and I don't ask twice," he grunted out.

Michael glanced at Yohan who stood beside him. "I'm a middle witch Tar, I may have magical blood running through my veins, but other than that, I'm the definition of human, well of immortal man,” he added with a slight chuckle.

Tar gritted his teeth trying very hard not to lose his patience on Michael.

"Oh don't give me the murder you glare, you know queen Rebecca loves me and the King needs me," Michael replied with a playful chuckle.

As much as Tar wanted to rip his head off, the witch was right. Queen Rebecca had grown fond of the witch, and the King had grown to like the outsider.

Apart from that, he was the only being who knew a lot about the outside realm and could pass through the barrier without the use of a bracelet of Arkiah, due to his connection with Death.

He would not admit this out loud, but he too had grown to like Michael, who seemed to be wise beyond his years, but still managed to irritate him beyond all bounds.

However, though hard to admit it was actually kind of nice to be around someone who wasn’t always shaking in their boots at the sight of you and could actually have a conversation like a normal being.

Tar sighed, "I know you can't do magic, but your connection to the elements, could help these young cobalt dragons to master their own magic," he replied glancing over at the troops.

Michael put his hand on his chin, "and Elzar?"

"Elzar is training the older ones, and the other elves are with the Queen, the fae will not help in violence," Tar responded quickly.

"Why should I help the man that killed me?" Michael asked with an amused grin.

Tar heaved out in complete frustration, "you will not let it go will you Michael? It’s been thirteen god damn years give it a rest," Tar bellowed, rolling his eyes.

He didn't even understand it anymore. How someone could hold on to something so petty for so long. True, he had slit his throat when Michael had first arrived across the barrier.

He was a witch, it was hard to trust him and truthfully he wasn't sure he had fully trusted him even after so many years.

And the son of a bitch, didn't even stay dead, because of his connection to death, he awoke and healed as if nothing happened in a matter of minutes.

But since then, even though their now Friendly relationship, Michael would not just let it go.

"It doesn't matter if it was 13 years ago or happened yesterday. A kill is a kill," Micheal huffed, "You owe me, for both that and teaching these youngens. I want deer tonight, make sure Flame brings it to me," he grunted walking past him.

Tar growled lowly as Michael passed him, "Deer it is," he muttered underneath his breath.

He looked up to see Yohan with an amused grin on his face.

"Is there a problem, soldier?" He bellowed, dark eyes looming on Yohan

The young boy's smile quickly faded and he saluted to his general, "No, Sir!"

Tar growled at the youngling, "get out of here boy," he spat.

"Yes Sir!" Yohan yelled with another salute, before walking toward Michael and the cobalt troops he was teaching.

Tar watched them for a while.

Truth be told, Yohan was 32, but in dragon years he was nothing but a teenager, and his body was exactly that.

Dragons aged slowly and lived very long, so it was quite normal.

Michael was 43, but because of his immortality, he had only aged slightly, nevertheless, he still maintained the old wise look.

"You really give the General a hard time," Yohan said to Michael with a cheerful laugh.

Michael slapped him at the back of his head, "fool! You know your general heard you," he scolded, "sometimes I fail to believe you're actually captain of your troop."

Tar grinned, chuckling to himself when he heard this.

Though they were out of normal hearing range, because they were dragons, they could hear from a distance longer.

Yohan glanced at Tar before whispering apologies and running back to his troops.

"Don't punish him too hard Tar, you know that I am fond of that fool," Michael said into the wind, knowing Tar would catch it.

Tar grunted unfolding his arms before walking away toward the fire pits.

On his way there he was met by a guard.

"General Sir!" Sidion saluted coming face to face with Tar

"Speak soldier-"

"His Majesty demands your presence at this very moment Sir!"

Tar growled at the loudness of his tone making the guard step back in intimidation.

"What dragon am I soldier?" Tar asked through his teeth, his tone low and dangerous making the soldier gulp slowly, but was quick to bury it when he replied.

"Pure fire dragon sir!"

What dragon are you?"

"Subspecies of Cobalt dragon," came the faltered reply.

"Then you understand I can hear you clearly without the need of raising your voice?" he sneered.

Yes, sir" Sidion replied quietly

Tar rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck.

"I want you in the pit next, fight Mordecai," Tar commanded in a heavy tone.

Sidions eyes widened. Mordecai was one of the best cobalt dragons, captain of his troop.

"Yes General,"

"Now!" Tar bellowed in his face, hot air streaming out. The guard scurried off toward the pits.

Tar watched him for a moment, scoffing before making his way to the King,

"Your maj-"

"Come Closer brother," The King replied with a soft sigh. Tar paused for a second, before nodding, walking toward the edge of the field where the king was standing, past the other guard who saluted.

"I see you gave Sidion, Mordecai," King Saga began glancing at Tar.

"The boy needed a lesson or two. He is hardly befitting to be your personal bodyguard," Tar replied with a sigh.

The king nodded, "true, but who says I keep him for protection? He can crack a good joke or two, rather loud at times, but a good soul," he replied with a steady hum. wise eyes traveling over the field.

Tar nodded, the king was a revered dragon, wise beyond his years, and a lot wiser than him.

He could control the air element without shifting into his dragon form and had a golden side to him that showed utter dominance any time he chose to.

Although he had no wings like other dragons, he could still fly just as easily, by the air element.

"I see," Tar replied glancing out at the two shifting dragons before dropping into the pit.

"Do you miss him?" The King asked slowly.

Tars eyes snapped back to the king, his stone gaze steadied on the side of the king's face, knowing exactly what he meant. His jaw clenched before looking back out at the dragons below, "Every day, as only a Father can," he huffed.

"Do you believe the witch takes good care of them?" The King added, eyes still out in the field.

"We have nothing to g by the word of another witch," Tar replied but paused when he remembered the spy he had harbored in his house," but if he says the truth, she was very good and taking care of children," he replied.

The King suddenly chuckled at this amusement in his eyes, and Tra turned confusion in his, "after all this, you compliment her?" he asked still amused.

Tar shrugged, "It is hard to wish her death when she has the core of a whole species in her care," he replied and the King paused at this, but nodded eventually, "I would have sensed had something happened to him," he stated, "I've felt safe for the past 13 years."

Though it did not show on his face, relief roamed in his body at the sound of the King's words, a calmness in his dragon, who knew it could trust the word of a revered Dragon. Flame grunting within him.

The King cleared his throat looking back up at the fields the smoke that turned the sky a burning grey, "Are they ready?" King Saga asked, "I feel the time is near-"

Tar looked back out at the dragons, "No," was the straightforward reply.

This caused that King to look at him questionably,

Tar sighed, "The dragons have had all the training, but their humans haven't. What happens when during the battle they get sprayed with Xink or are too weak to shift? They must have a balance," he replied, “one they have not fulfilled yet to its ultimate degree.”

The king grunted in truth, "let us see shall we?" He asked, the air spinning around them like a tornado, yet in the heart of it, all was calm, as they moved across the field to the pits.

As soon as they arrived the dragon soldiers watching immediately made way, bowing and saluting to their ruler and General.

The King stopped by the edge of the pit.

The dragons inside it were still fighting, the larger dragon, mercilessly swiping, teeth and claws at the smaller one, who was quick to dodge and release his short blue his blue flames.

"Cease," the king ordered his once brown orbs an electric Royal blue as he released his dominance.

As soon as he said it, though the dragons inside the pit were creating a hell of a lot of noise, they stopped, backing away from each other, hissing and growling, wings extending, before folding. The ground beneath them slowly started to shake as The king brought the bottom of the pit back to ground level, his purple irises slowly going back to their dull brown as the dragons reached ground level.

The King left Tars side walking in between the two dragons that slowly bowed before him

They knew their leader.

"Shift" the king commanded.

dragons immediately began to shift, standing there bare, before the king.

A soldier jogged in with their uniforms and they put them on.

The king turned his back on them, "fight,"

Immediately both men began to go head to head, kicking, dodging, and punching till Mordecai slipped and fell.

"Stop-" the king commanded before Sidion could lay a knockout punch

He turned back to face them, "in your dragon form, you easily dominated," he said to Mordecai,

"Yes, my Lord,” the dark-haired green-eyed boy replied, slowly getting up.

"But in your human form, you managed to be weak and harmless."

Mordecai hangs his head lowly. his aw ticking.

"From now on, no more shifting, I want all the dragons out of the pits!" The king ordered.

"Yes, your highness!!" The troops of dragon soldiers replied.

"Except you, Sidon," He replied glancing back at his guard.

"Yes, your highness"

"Tar, find him a worthy opponent," King Saga continued never taking his eyes off Sidion.

"As you command, my liege-" The general replied.

"One who isn't Mordecai," King Saga added turning to his Second in command who nodded.

With that, the King walked away from the troops in search of his King.

Tar rolled his shoulders glancing at the troops around him, and the other dragons who were getting out of the pit,

He glanced at Sidion, "You fight Yohan," he commanded.

"Yes General,"

"And the rest of you, break out into your troops! Captains, don't make me ask twice," Tar growled out.
