Words over breakfast. We had sneaked out of the King’s ball early and walked back to the pack house. Well, my strappy heels were slowing me down so Lance picked me up and carried me most of the way. He seemed very keen to get me in the shower and wash the King’s scent off me. We had spent the rest of the night making up for lost time. I had been asleep when Lance wakes me up by wrapping his arms around my naked body. “I have to go.” He sighs. “Really?” I moan, placing the duvet over my mouth to hide my dry throat. I need to drink more otherwise Doctor Wessex will put me on a drip again. “I’ll see you at breakfast.” He kisses my neck from behind. “Breakfast?” “Everyone gathers again at the marquee for breakfast for a send off to the King.” “It’s like a wedding.” I moan out loud. “It’s all fake, point scoring against other packs.” I add. “The King knows that, we know that…but the pack members don’t know…so let them play along.” “Ricardo.” I test the King’s name on my lips. “H
No place like home. Yuk! The same garish canvas of Henri and Saskia welcomed me as I enter the alpha house. It was now joined with a smaller version of just Saskia and Skylar, lurid and cheap looking, it really suited them. Knowing Kath would be busy somewhere behind the scenes for breakfast, I was alone in the house. I run up the stairs towards my bedroom, eager to not spend any more time in here than I have to. I sensed a new scent to the house, but mixed in with others, I couldn’t place it and with people no doubt coming and going for the King for the past few days, it wasn’t surprising the house had lost its signature scent. I walk along the upstairs hallway when I come to my room. Or I thought I had. I do a double take. Was I in the wrong house? My room has been completed redecorated, completely stripped of any evidence that this was my room…my untouched sanctuary. The last thing that was solely mine, again now belonged to Skylar. She could have had a guest room to claim as he
Holding on to survivor’s guilt. Who am I more annoyed with? Lance for keeping his birth right, his Prince title, a secret from me…I feel like an idiot. Why didn’t I guess when Queen Lorrel took a sudden interest in me, trying to find out the details of my past. Or the way the royal guards refused to let me leave…or even just everyone always around me. I thought it was because they cared, but it wasn’t, it was an order from their Prince, the King’s Beta…really an alpha in his own rights. Memories flood to my mind of when Tate threw me in the back of the car to hide me from the rebels, the rebels that clearly want me as a bargaining tool against the royal family. Nothing to do with me being a pack princess or having alpha blood in my system. Am I annoyed with my father and brother for yet again, pushing me to the side. I can’t believe they let Skylar move into my bedroom, my bedroom…that Mum used to kiss me good night in every night. She could have had any other room, but she blatantl
Almost a free woman. I wasn’t really talking to Lance. I wanted to go back to Building B, but he refused and we came to a silent agreement that he would sleep on the couch. The problem is, my wolf missed him and I would wake up every morning wrapped in his arms on the couch. One morning I was literally on top of him. I was woken up by his chuckling, I literally climbed off him and walked back into his room, slamming the door behind me. I completely threw myself into training. It’s amazing how I had a new respect for senses training when I didn’t want to go back to apartment, and was clocking up extra hours of training. Axel literally walked me back from the top field every evening, tail between my legs. There was one person I hadn’t seen all week. One person who, although not my friend, hadn’t acted differently knowing Lance was a prince. He hadn’t backed down from my challenge and oddly I had a new found respect for him. Apparently he had been excused from training all week as Nad
A birth. Where the hell is Blake? I’ve been trying to call her and I’ve even run around the courtyard and fields looking for her. But enough time has passed and I need to get to Colette. “Rafe? Tate?” I find Rafe and Tate just about to sit down and eat their lunch in the canteen.“Aida what’s wrong?” Rafe asks while I catch my breath. “I need you one of you to drive me somewhere, it’s an emergency.” I whisper, conscious that my flustered approach was gaining attention. “Can’t Blake drive you?” He tuts looking at Tate. “I can’t find Blake or Hong….” I scream at Rafe in frustration. Tate looks uncomfortable for a second. “What?” I give him an accusatory look. “Blake and Hong snuck out to meet Trey and Isla half way..”Oh great secret meetings with their mates, who so happen to be from my family and neighbouring pack. “Goddess sake! Fine, I’ll drive myself…” I start to storm out of the canteen door when Tate rushes up behind me and stops me by pulling at my elbow. “Calm down Aid
Better late than never. I manage to cook Tate and I some dinner and plate some up for Colette, in case she gets overly hungry in the night. I find some biscuits in the cupboard and take them upstairs along with a bottle of water for Colette, to keep by her side of the bed. I carry the baby up in the moses basket, when she starts to stir from the movement. I rock her back to sleep gently and watch her in awe as she makes a little gurgling sound. She settles herself back to sleep as Tate enters with Colette in his arms. “Put her here.” I say, laying down some towels just in case. She was annoyed with her new towels being used, I hate for these to be her favourite bed sheets! “Are you okay?” He whispers at me as I wince in pain again from my heat symptoms. “Nothing sleep won’t solve.” I smile at him. “Okay, I’ll lock up and sleep on the couch just in case Mav panics and comes back in the night.”“Why would he panic?”“Well he’ll probably feel it all through the bond, how Colette was
Baby Rayna. I realise quite quickly that I am the only one that can resolve this situation. I stand up and drop the duvet to the ground, releasing my aura onto Lance and the King. It’s nowhere near as strong as theirs but I am alpha blood and it is strong for a she-wolf. “Release them!” I command. “Little wolf, you don’t get to command me!” Ricardo snarls at me. “I said release them!” I bark out louder. “It was my fault and Tate here was able to pin them down long enough for me to escape.” Ricardo throws Rory to the ground and takes heavy steps towards me. He is blocked by Lance, who also threw Rafe to the ground, before completely engulfing my figure so that I can’t even see the King. Lance’s growl worries me, I would never get in-between family! “Please…it’s basic wolf genetics…don’t punish them for my mistake. They helped save Mav’s wife and baby..” I whisper to the King in a plea to protect them. It seems to work, his breathing calms down and so does Lance’s tense shoulders
Silver swords and machine guns. We left Mav, Colette and Rayna to bond as a family. Mav was going to take some time off to help Colette recover and spend time with their new addition. With Colette being human she would take around six weeks to recover post-partum and she would need some extra hands. They planned for Mav to stay for the first week and then tell her parents that he had been called away…they were of course human and had no idea of the secret life Colette lives. Luckily they didn’t live close and wouldn’t visit often, meaning there was a low chance of the baby showing…if any, signs of being a Lycan. Lance was eager to return back to the royal pack lands and get a better understanding of the fall out from the rebel attack. From what I could gather, the royal guards managed to capture rebels and were questioning them for information. Lance said questioning and he’s sweet if he thinks I am that naive, but I grew up hearing of the lycan torture techniques and I didn’t expec
