Chapter Twenty-Three

Trying to keep the past in the past.

As we made it back to base it was nearing the end of lunch time and I could make out most of the lycan’s eating in the canteen through the windows.

“Let’s just grab a drink okay?” Axel turns to me knowing I wanted to stay locked up in Building B until tomorrow. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into his direction. He placed an arm around my shoulder as we entered the canteen.

You know that moment when a loud chatting noise was free-flowing, then you enter the room and silence fills the air? Yep, this is exactly what happens as we enter the room. They were all clearly talking about me and my embarrassment went to new levels. Well, jokes on them, I’ve ways been the black sheep. I’ve always been looked at differently.

I know exactly what would help divert my attention in this awkward situation.

French fries!

They always know what to do. I walked towards the kitchen area to see Spike standing behind the counter.

“What you doing?” I ask stunned.
