"Oh," I exclaimed softly, having a guess where this conversation was heading. "If this is about my inability to feed on humans then," I began, but mother waved it off.

"This is not about that," she said rather impatiently. Sometimes, I wished father had never turned her. She was the perfect, gentle, and understanding mother. We were very close until her dark side broke us and drifted us apart. She was no longer understanding about my weakness. She wanted me untamed. Untamed to be a cruel vampire. That is what we vampires were all about. We were something beyond the extraordinary.

"Let's get to why this assemblage is for Ashlyn," Otis said, getting impatient too. I knew he could not wait to get upstairs to continue his feasting and fornication with the touring ladies he had gotten hold of and that were in his room. Feasting and fornication. To Otis, that was life.

"We have decided to get Ashlyn married." Mother dropped the bombshell, keeping us out of the suspense that had grown.

"What?!" We all exclaimed.

"Who am I going to pick on when she leaves?" Joshua asked, and I stared in dismay at father and mother trying to force back the tears that had sprung up and wanted to drop.

I was so emotional. I even hated that about myself.

"You cannot do this," I said to her.

"Who is she getting married to?"Darius asked calmly.

"Your father's second in command son," Mother said indignantly.

"Oh." Otis huffed, making jests of me.

"You cannot do this to me, mother. How could you plan such a ridiculous thing with father?" I asked her in anger and fear. I hated Eli Manning for everything that was in me. He walked in the air with his feet never touching the ground.

His ego was the biggest I have ever seen in young men. His pride was like that of a thousand peacocks and indeed more!

"It has been settled. Eli has even displayed a likeness to you." She tried to justify her outrageous decision.

"She cannot marry Eli Manning," Darius said in the same authoritative voice as father that strikes fear in the heart of anyone before him.

"Why?" Mother and Otis questioned at the same time.

"Ash is no longer a child to be told what to do. If she does not want an intimate relationship with Eli, no one shall force her." He replied, and I breathed a sigh of relief that at least someone in this house had my back.

"Ashlyn needs an iron fist to mould her into her real self." Mother said. Now I understood what this was about. They were shipping me off to Eli, so I would no longer be their problem to handle. I felt like a cartel about to be sold off.

"Mother is right. When was the last time Ashlyn drank blood? It's been almost a year." Joshua said, dangling a cup of blood in front of me as he continued. "Look how pale you are, sister. You're getting weaker by the day. Have a taste of blood, hmm?" He said, smirking. He was right. I was trying my hardest to stay away from blood to see if I'd get hungered and then drain every source of life out of a human, but I was failing in that too.

"If she could not develop vampire characteristics under father's iron fist, what then is the guarantee that she'd bend over Eli's will?" Darius asked, getting upset. An heated argument ensued due to Darius's words.

"Enough!" Father's voice thundered in our ears and we kept quiet. He had been quiet since mother brought up the discussion and now, he demanded to be heard.

"This marriage shall take place and that's final," he said. He stood to his feet and walked away and mother followed.

"We always have to gather for stupid things," Otis said, rising up on his feet too. How could my younger brother be this cruel to me too? In a flash, he was out of the room.

"Goodnight, Mrs. Manning," Joshua said with a smirk and a mocking bow. In a flash, he was also gone.

I burst into tears and went up to Darius. "Please, don't let them get me married off. Please, Darius, please." I pleaded and he held me amidst my tears without saying a word.

The thoughts of wedding of Eli Manning still rang in my head the next morning and the tears that had dried off at Three AM this morning started afresh. The hate I had for Eli ran deep in my blood. A hatred that a young woman should not possess, but I could not help it. He disgusted me. Why? Eli was very rude, proud, egocentric like I've seen before, and worse than Joshua. If I could not possibly tolerate Joshua, my own brother, how can I tolerate a man like Eli? He was also very disciplined. Too strict to the core. I believe he can beat up women. He was such a brute.

One of the maidens assigned to me walked in and I quickly wiped my tears. My tears of blood. One rule I followed was never to let the commoners see you cry.

"What brings you here?" I asked her.

"The lady asked me to get you ready." She said, looking down.

There was no friend in this house. Mother did not want any one of us close to the helpers and so different helpers were assigned to attend to us every day.

I once liked one particular vampire who attended to me every day and when mother found out, she fired her. Her penalty was death, but with my constant pleading and cries, she was let go. Never to return.

I believe mother thought I was in the act of lesbianism. That I had suddenly joined the ladies that were sexually attracted to only ladies, but I was not. Mother's thinking was tinted. I would not blame her either for that.

"For what?" I asked her.

"Lunch with the noble commander's son," she said. I frowned. Eli Manning. I took a long look at the clock. It was only Ten AM. What was the need to go out and have lunch with Eli? Was mother having human thoughts again? What would we be doing when we cannot eat like normal people? My vampire side was suppressed due to my restraint on blood and I could hold food in my stomach for a long time, unlike Eli who was very active at bloodsucking. He'd throw up the moment the food got into his stomach.

"M'lady?" She called and I turned to her.

"Take your time," I said to her. That was me agreeing to get prepared. I knew better than to go against mother's orders.

I was dressed in a white flowing satin dress with long sleeves that were curved out at my wrist.

I stood in front of the mirror. I was looking like a lamb dressed up for sacrifice.

Mother walked into the room with a smiling face. "You look beautiful, my princess. Eli will marry you once he sets his eyes upon this beauty." She said. I shrieked in horror. I did not try to mask my anger and sadness towards this engagement.

  • Fated to the Lycan   Chapter sixty eight

Ashlyn's POV I had left the pack house earlier that morning to the river and that was when a shot was fired at me leaving me unconscious. I was regaining consciousness when I heard Lucifer renounce his position as the Laird and when Hawking had let his guard down and I took the chance to take the gun from him without wasting time, I fired the rifle. Hell let loose as bullets and arrows flew around. Lucifer transformed immediately and as an arrow was fired towards me, he stood in front of me, grabbing the arrow and breaking it into two before running over to the shooter to rip his head off. His comrades too had shifted and many of the pack warriors were coming out of the territory. The battle was fierce as the battalion of rebels took over fighting too. Lucifer ex mistresses all charged towards me and had also transformed into their forms except Sofia. Celine transformed into a werewolf and Sia, Juliette and Meredith transformed into Lycanthropes.I let Iona take control and shifte

Roselia's POV I heaved. It was time the Lady knew about the alpha. "Come with me, dear," I said motioning to her to follow me to my room. She did. We got to my room and I locked the door. "Come sit with me." I said holding her hand and leading her to the bed. We both sat down. She had curiosity written allover her. "It was forty decades ago when Queen Katrin, Lucifer's mother was married to Alpha Charles, Lucifer's father and I was her trusted and youngest servant. She was married to him for years without a child and when a decade passed without her still not carrying his child, she decided to go the extra mile just to get a child." I said to her. She stared at me paying rapt attention. "Another year passed again and when she could not get a child from the moon goddess, she went to the witches of the night to get one. That was how she got Lucifer." I said to her and she gasped in shock. "She told me that a pentagram was drawn and the witch she had gone to was a dark witch who co

Ashlyn's POV I sat on the ground in the study room crying my eyes out till noon. If I could believe that he had nothing to do with Celine, why does he not believe that I have nothing to do with Stye? I stood up from the floor wiping my tears. Crying would not solve my problem. I have to prove my innocence. I walked out of the study room and bumped into Celine. "Pardon me," she said, smirking. At that moment, all of my frustrations and anger rose up again. "You bitch!" I said to her in anger as I pulled her by the hair. "Have you gone crazy? Let me go!" She yelled at me. I refused. "Listen to me you nitwit, I know you have a hand in everything happening to me. I just know it." I said to her. She freed herself from my grasp. "Do not accuse me for your infidelity, Ashlyn," she said in anger. "I did not ask you to spread your legs for another man to lay with you." She added snickering. "You know I did not do it. I'll prove my innocence, I promise you." I said to her and she snicke

  • Fated to the Lycan   Chapter sixty five

Ashlyn's POV Three days passed, and today was the day Lucifer was to return back to the house and to me. I was anticipating his return. Ripper, Stealth, and Roselia had played a good part of keeping me out of boredom till he returns. I was seated at the dining area when Roselia brought in a tray having a cup of tea, bread, grits and gravy, sausages and devilled eggs on it. "Is this not too much?" I asked her in surprise as she placed it in front of me. She chuckled. "No, milady. You need to eat more than drink blood." She said to me. I smiled at her. "Thank you." I said to her as I began to munch on the breakfast before me. "You're glowing so much today, milady. I'm sure it's your anticipation for the Laird's return." She said to me smiling and I blushed and nodded. I took a sip from the tea and placed it back on the saucer. Before I could take another bite from the sausage, the urge to throw up took over and I turned aside and vomited blood on the floor. "Oh my, are you alrig

  • Fated to the Lycan   Chapter sixty four

Ashlyn's POV He held me in arms in that position for a long time till my tears could no longer flow down my cheeks. I raised my head up to look at him, and his was filled with warm emotions. He held my chin in between his thumb and index finger. "There's never going to be another woman in my life, Ash. Not in this life or the next." He said to me and I believed him. I should have known it was another scheme of Celine to separate us. I do believe him but why does he not believe me? I opened my mouth to speak, but he stopped me. "Do not say a word." He said as he placed his lips on mine. • Morning approached quickly and the familiar warmth that laid beside me last night was gone and replaced with an empty and cold bed. I opened my eyes and indeed Lucifer was no longer beside me. I got up to a sitting position on the bed and sighed. Then I had a weird feeling that everything was about change. Just then, Lucifer walked into my room. The door was still broken and unfixed. He was a

  • Fated to the Lycan   Chapter sixty three

Ashlyn's POVIt was noon when I finally stepped out of my room. I walked down the stairs feeling very famished. Hungry for food and a little blood too. I walked into the kitchen to find Roselia making lunch with a few helps in the kitchen too. "Just a few minutes, milady and lunch would be ready." She said just as if she knew why I was here. I chuckled as I went towards a tin of biscuits. "I can have this till lunch is ready init?" I asked her. She smiled. "Yes, milady." She said. I opened the tin of biscuits and munched on a few before heading out of the kitchen. Maybe I should speak to Lucifer and see if I could get a bag of blood or two. I walked towards the living room and saw Alpha Hawking walking into the house with his beta beside him. His eyes lit the instant he saw me. "My days on earth have been blessed to have seen the goddess of beauty herself this noon." He said to me. I faked a smile at his flattery. I really do not know why Lucifer trusted this man when everything
