MasukDelilah's POV "This man, tell me more about him," I say to Vivian. She puts forth both her hands towards me. "I will. But for now, you just have to find a way to stop the glass from freezing." "How do I do that?" I ask, almost getting frustrated. "Just concentrate on your warlock side. Try to harness that fire within. You can do it." "No I cannot. I don't even know how to control my powers." "Stop being lazy about this!" Vivian commands. "I'm not being lazy!" I say in my defence. "If you put in the much-needed effort, you'd be able to do this. Why aren't you even trying?" "Don't say that! Do you think I haven't been trying my best to get us out of here? How will I harm the orb if I badly want it to work?" I say in rage. The anger burns through my mind as I look at Vivian. "Why are you treating me like I'm the problem here? I've not done anything wrong."I glare at Vivian ready to flare up again. She looks at me, wide-eyed, and her gaze diverts to the orb on the table. A whit
Delilah's POVI wake up to the soft breathing of General Kane on my neck. His arms are draped around my body and it's a bit hot being entangled with him. But I stay in his embrace a little longer, looking closely at his handsome face. This is the first time I'm seeing him this peaceful. If only this moment could last forever, I would do anything to have that. But we're stuck in the human world and need to find a way out.I carefully slip his hand away from my body and stand up from the bed. Last night was wild. I blush at the memory and my mind immediately goes on alert. Did we leave the door open? I immediately rush to it and check only to find it locked."Scared that someone might have caught you being all wild and freaky?"I turn back, smiling at Kane who has just woken up. He is now lying on the bed, looking steadily at me.I giggle at his statement and go to hug him on the bed. "Good morning, Kane.""Good morning, Delilah," he replies while patting my hair.Later in the morning
Delilah's POV General Kane has to be the best kisser in the world. He is the only man I've kissed but I bet he's the best. I have missed this, I have missed the feel of his hands on my body, the way he holds me, the way my body responds to him. It's electrifying. He moves closer to me, covering the gap between us. His body feels warm on mine and he holds me even closer to himself. He leaves my lips and trails kisses down my neck. "I missed this," I say almost breathless. "I've missed you."I comb through his hair with my fingers and grab a fistful of it. General Kane sits upright causing us to separate. "What's the matter?" I ask. He looks back at the door and chuckles, "It's not locked, right?" My mouth forms into an O shape when I realise it. "Can we continue this later?" he asks, smiling. "No," I shake my head, reluctant to let him go. "Let's do this now. We will lock the door." "Delilah," he says, tucking my hair behind my ear, "that will raise suspicion. Or do you want
Kane's POVDespite my previous experience with Delilah, I'm still scared to see her in this condition again. The worry eats deep into my heart as I stare at her frail figure on the bed. My right leg bobs up and down continuously. Will she be okay? What will I do if she wakes up as a warlock? Will I have to fight with her here? We will tear this place down and the news will spread. The Ultima will hear about it. Delilah will be killed and I'll be tagged a traitor of Avalon.I close my eyes and exhale deeply. Everything will be fine, I continue to tell myself.Cecile appears at the doorway. "You can go and get yourself cleaned up. I'll watch over her."I stare at Delilah one last time before standing up and going to the bathroom. My body smells of burnt hair and clothes from my journey through the portal. Part of my skin is burnt too. When I'm done bathing, I use the clothes and towel Vivian prepared for me. Outside the room, I meet her in the hallway waiting for me."I have a few ques
Delilah's POVI feel so hot right now. It wasn't until Vivian pointed it out that I noticed my burning shoes and clothes. The spot where I'm standing on her wooden floor starts to get dark, and smoke arises from it. I quickly move out of there. "Look at the ceiling," Cecile says, and we look up to see that part of the ceiling has started to burn. Vivian brings her gaze down from the ceiling, settling it on me. "Are you the one causing this?" I stare at her, my heart racing. Cecile notices my discomfort and comes to stand by me. "Come on, let's go." She grabs my arm, but quickly withdraws it. "You're cold as ice." My heart sinks. Cold as ice? This is exactly what happened the last time I transformed. My heart rate increases even more as I feel the panic rising in my chest. My feet become unstable on the floor, and I reel backwards, almost falling. Cecile holds me immediately."Delilah? Come on, what's the matter?" she asks, holding me. I try to look at her but my vision is blurr
Kane's POVEven when we're worlds apart, I can still feel Delilah's energy. She's unstable right now. On my part, it makes me restless. I haven't been able to sleep throughout the night and it's like the more we waste time, the bigger the threat.I continue to pace about the balcony, worried. Ivan has been working day and night to ensure the staff works but nothing has changed. I hit my hand on the railings and exhale angrily. The whole pack is quiet and everyone must be sleeping right now. This is the best time to leave Avalon, under the cover of night, when no one will know. I'm just glad there isn't any rumour about Delilah using the staff of doom. No one suspects it. Alpha Geraldine doesn't even know about his daughter's whereabouts. We haven't spoken since the day Delilah and Cecile disappeared. And he says he's coming to visit me today.I sit on the chair on the balcony, thinking until the day breaks. Alpha Geraldine arrives at the pack before sunrise. He comes upstairs to meet
