Chapter 5: Alive...

.

*Lyla*

Seven...

Eight ...

Nine...

Lyla drops her head on her hand as she count the students trooping out of the class.

She was bored and no better way to cure your boredom than to count each and every one of your classmates.

She groaned finally giving up resting against her seat as she stared out of the window looking ahead at the empty courtyard.

The courtyard used to be filled with students and now it’s just there ...

Due to the recent happenings of people randomly dying, the school has scrapped out any outdoor activities. So mostly everything they have been doing have just been inside the building and Lyla agrees that it’s actually reasonable ...

“No lunch break today?.”

Lyla looked away from the window to stare at Sheila standing beside her seat.

“What do you want, Sheila?.” Lyla responded.

“Oh nothing.” The auburn haired cheerleader replied in a high pitched voice. “Just really curious as to why you’ll be in the classroom alone while everyone is leaving.”

Lyla scoffed turning her whole attention to the cheerleader now. “Why? I’m not allowed to stay back ?.”

“Oh you are!.” Sheila replied and exchanged a glance with her best friend, Cassie as they both giggled at the same time.

“Aren’t you scared?.” Cassie asked speaking up for the first time.

“Of what exactly?.” Lyla rolls her eyes resting back on the chair. “I’m staying back in the classroom because I’m not hungry for lunch. I had a full breakfast. What? Is a ghost suddenly going to come here and eat me?.” Lyla throws out a hand gesturing towards the few students remaining in the class. “And look around, I’m not even alone, so if I can get murdered here, who says I can’t get murdered in the cafeteria?.”

Cassie looks at her with a horrified expression on her face. “I hate how you think.”

Meanwhile Sheila just shudders and drags Cassie out to leave with her.

Lyla shakes her head as they both leave the classroom.

Everyone is just being paranoid!

And the thing is that they don’t even know what they are being paranoid over!

The town is informed of a kill almost every 2 hours but it’s always death to a different thing just that they suspect the cause to be one.

“Can’t wait to get out of this town.” Lyla murmurs to herself as she finally packs the books on her desks back in her bag pack.

“Me too!.”

Lyla’s head whips back immediately to face the voice she had just heard.

But there was nobody behind her.

She craned her neck further but the seats behind her were empty and the few people in class she had pointed out before were seated rows away from her.

“Maybe it was just my imagination.” Lyla whispers to herself in an attempt to not get irrationally anxious. “People hear things all the time, you are not an exception.” She continues and then a cold air blows past her causing chills all over her body.

*Skylar*

I got there and opened the door closing it behind me going to take a pee but stopped at what I saw.

A boy at the sink washing his hands.

It would have seemed normal.

But he was washing his hands with blood.

The boy turned around and I stepped backwards surprised, my heart pounding against my chest.

The same boy from the news this morning.

play it cool, Sky.

play it very cool, Sky.

“The sink is so dirty, don’t you think?.” The boy spoke up gesturing towards the color of the water that was rushing.

“Y-Yeah.” I manage to let out while backing away slowly at the same time.

I was afraid to run while turning my back at the same time.

Who knows what could happen at the moment?

He might reach out to stab me!

Not might! Will!

“I’m not taking up any space, am I?.” He spoke again, nodding his head towards the empty sinks next to him.

“Uhh no thanks, I’ll just—I’ll come back later.” I respond, my heartbeat picking up faster, accelerating more swiftly than I would want it to.

“Why?.” He tilted his head, as his lips was about to stretch into a smile.

I didn’t even wait to hear what he was about to say.

I had already gotten to the door from all the shuffling of feet and immediately sped out when I had the chance.

Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!

Those were the words resounding in my head as I ran blindly just to get away from whoever was in that restroom.

And that got me crashing into someone as well.

“Ouch!.” I muttered rubbing my forehead as I manage to lift myself up from the ground.

“Sorry.” The person in question muttered out of breath and ran away quickly.

I turn to look at her running figure curiously and realized that was Lyla.

Popular Klaus Drew younger sister.

Her blonde hair bouncing after her as her figure disappeared when she turned down the hallway.

I shook my head not even wanting to know what caused that.

But it seems to be a normal thing for her as the students walked by like nothing was happening.

Nobody ever knows what’s up with Lyla.

I rubbed my forehead sighing as I know few hours later there was going to be a bump.

I let go of my head and walked straight ahead willing myself to be normal as I try to forget what had occurred in the restroom.

“Maybe I was just overthinking things ...” I mutter to myself trying to get me to believe it.

Who knows the dead boy might have had a twin?

And maybe it was the twin I had met in the bathroom?

Who knows?

But talk of the devil and he appears!

I widened my eyes and stopped right in my tracks as I recognize the dead boy from the T.V again.

This time, he was casually leaning on a locker next to someone’s open one and it surprised me.

Confusion ran through me as I stare at his figure still not moving in the middle of the hallways.

The boys restroom was all the way behind my back.

There was no way he made it to the locker before I did.

I even ran while he was still in the restroom.

And yet here he was!

And there was no way I can make up a lie that he’s also a triplet!

The boy in question looked towards my direction as if he knew I was there and tilted his head finally completing the smile that he wanted to give me.
