Chapter 11

Mercury's POV

When she told me to let go of her or she would let her lycan rip my head off, I knew I was really in deep sh*t. I had to fix this; I was not going to let go of her.

“Cheyenne, please just listen. I stuck my foot right into my mouth then right into my a**. I'm sorry, I never should have said what I said. I just wanted to go with our son. I miss this, Cheyenne. It's hard to let go of something that you have had for so many years. I'm sorry for what I said to you. I know you were okay before you met me. You were doing good all on your own. And I'm sorry for even saying those things to you.” She stood there for a few seconds before jerking away from me again. I sighed, not knowing what else to say or do. I watched as she went into the bedroom for a few minutes. I sat on the couch with my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands, tears dropping down my face.

“You are a stupid fool for saying this to our mate. I am even pissed at you, Mercury,” my lycan Shadow said to me. He was always quiet, as was my wolf. We talk when we go on runs or go after rogues, but when it comes to this, they must be pretty pissed at me for this sh*t.

“I’m sorry, Shadow. Sometimes I feel like I’m an old man and I need to get back on track with things.”

“Getting back on track doesn't mean making our mate pissed or tossing us out of our home. Get your sh*t together, or we will get it together for you, meaning we will take over and make you watch everything behind our eyes,” that was my wolf talking. Damn, he's pissed, and I knew he was right about this. I smelled my mate when she walked back into the living room.

“Get your sh*t from outside. You will not sleep in our bed; you will sleep on the couch. Dinner will be on the table at six sharp. If you're not here to eat, then it will be in the microwave. I won't wait for you. As far as I am concerned, Mercury, from now on, you can do whatever the f*ck you want to. I'm not rejecting you. Goddess knows I want to. But I won't. I know I'm not perfect. I am far from perfect. But I would have never spoken to you like that, ever! So get your a** up, get your sh*t off the ground. You can fix your own dinner tonight because you sure as hell don’t want me to do it right now. I'm going to bed. Feel free to leave if you want; I won’t stop you.” I quickly stood from the couch, grabbing her before she could walk back into the bedroom. Pulling her to me, I held her, inhaling her scent. I whispered in her ear how much I loved her. I could feel her shaking; she was on the verge of crying. She pulled away, walking back into the bedroom and shutting the door behind her. I walked back outside, wishing I wasn’t so f*cking stupid. I got all the clothes and shoes off the ground, placing them on the couch. When I was finally done, I just made a sandwich, ate it, and then laid down on the couch. Tonight will be a sleepless night. This will be the first time since I got my mate back that we didn’t sleep together, and it was all my damn fault.

Cheyenne's POV

When I walked into the bedroom, I sat on the edge of the bed. What I really wanted to do was cry, scream, kick his ass out, reject him, kick him in the balls, and a whole lot more. He had me so angry, I don't know how to come down from this. How could he talk to me like that? Yeah, I know I have said some hateful things, but never like that. I'm not perfect; I am so far from being perfect. I made up my mind about things. I put on a nightgown so I wouldn't walk out there naked. I stood there for a second, watching him with his head in his hands. I knew he was upset. I knew I was hateful when I said this, but it was the only thing I was feeling right now.

"Get your stuff from outside. You will not sleep in our bed; you will sleep on the couch. Dinner will be on the table at six sharp. If you're not here to eat, then it will be in the microwave. I won't wait for you. As far as I am concerned, Mercury, from now on, you can do whatever the hell you want. I'm not rejecting you; Goddess knows I want to. But I won't. You can fix your own dinner tonight because you sure as hell don’t want me to do it right now. I'm going to bed; feel free to leave if you want. I won’t stop you,” he hurried to get off the couch, holding me in his arms. I wanted this to last forever; I wanted him to keep holding me. But his words kept coming into my head, so I pulled away, turned, and walked back into the bedroom, shutting the door behind me. Now I'm sitting on the edge of the bed again, looking at the bedroom door, wondering if he would just open it and come to bed. My wolf and lycan were whimpering, wanting our mate, but right now, I just can’t. I'm hurt; my feelings and heart were hurt. They need to understand what he said was hateful.

We might be old, but if need be, I'll bring the old Cheyenne back out. I put her to sleep a long time ago. I only train the new recruits, and I make sure they are trained the right way. I train them to fight and how to take a punch. I train them to shoot guns and how to handle a knife. By the time I am done with them, they will know everything. I know I need to get some sleep; I'm going to try since I have training in the morning.
