Chapter 5

Spike Pov

You all should know, I'm not the type that talks a lot. But since the main ironboss retired and put his son in charge, things have changed a lot. Ishia is like his father in every way. He protects his family and his pack with a fist. He gets everything that people owe him, even if it takes a life. His daughter, I think, is way too much like Mercury. She will punch you in the face and ask questions later. She's a tough woman. When she turned of age to shift and that's sixteen, it didn’t happen for her at first. I thought her friends would turn on her, but they never did. The doctor told her that she indeed had a wolf. It was just still sleeping. Well, wake the fuck up because if that girl ever gets hurt, I'll kill a son of a bitch that hurt her. She's a tough cookie. I still remember when Isiah wanted to take this woman to the torture chamber to get answers from her, but she kicked him and ran out the door. Kayla went after her, tackled her down on the ground. The woman was going to get her with a silver knife, but Kayla saw it, snapping her neck. Oh, was Isiah pissed. But once she explained what was happening, he understood why she did what she did. Then there was last night, when Karen threatened to kill her father. She didn’t even think twice, shooting the woman right between the eyes. At first, I was shocked. I didn't think she carried a gun, but boy was I wrong. The woman fell flat on the ground; blood was everywhere, and she had a huge hole in her head. Again, he was pissed. He didn’t say anything on the way home. He split the money between us, and then we left. I didn’t know what happened after that because I was at my house, showering, and getting ready for tonight. People say that I'm quiet; well, I am that. I only talk when I need to. I have seen a lot of shit in my five-hundred-year life. I did have a mate, but she rejected me when I wouldn't leave this life. I grew up with this life. Mercury took me in when he found me at a young age of ten years old. My parents were killed because they were rogues. He took pity on me, brought me back here, cleaned me up, and taught me what this life was all about. He told me I didn't owe him anything; he just wanted me to have a chance in life. And I took that. But I do owe him. I owe him my whole life. He's like a father to me. I told him I would look after his son just like I looked after him when he did this, but to be honest, I didn't have to look after Isiah. He's a strong son of a bitch. He trains with us every single morning and does target practice with as many guns as he needs. He shifts and runs every single day to keep his wolf strong. It makes me wonder if he takes after his father, having a wolf and a lycan. I have yet to see it, but maybe he doesn’t; who knows. It took about an hour to get to this house, and for once, it didn't look run down so I thought. The house was brown with a little black trimming. We stopped the car a few feet away, that way if anyone looked out the window they wouldn’t see us. All of us got out, cocking our guns, making sure that they were clean and ready to go. I never had to catch anyone; I just normally watch on with amusement, with these people trying to hide the money that we always find. Before we got to the house, Isiah told us the rules that I already knew; it's the same as Mercury's.

Alright guys, listen up. Spike and Grandpa are going to find the money, and as always, they will say they don’t have it. But those liars always lie about it. Kayla, stand by the door to make sure no one runs out or inside. If they try to run out, do everything possible to knock them out. Don’t kill unless it's necessary. Ava, I want you to be with me so you know what I do. But if anything happens, do whatever you can to knock them out unless Spike or Hawk gets to them first. Let’s get to this. I want it quick and easy so I don’t have to worry about people seeing us. Let's get going. It was simple as that. I was only half listening because I already knew what he was going to say. I worked for his father as well, so I knew what to expect, except that his wife was here for the first time. Who knows what's going to happen now? We headed to the house, and I observed the rundown appearance of the surrounding houses. Why was this house different? The others seemed uninhabited, making it seem easy for us. We don’t know how many are inside, maybe five, ten, or more. They better have every dime they owe. I was there when the guy borrowed the money, promising to pay us back within a year. It’s been two years, and Isiah wants it back. Surrounding the house, I peeked through the windows and saw four guys and a female. She didn't seem to belong there; she looked like she belonged in the street. This could be easy since they were all preoccupied. Don’t they believe in curtains? Walking back to the boss and the others, I reported what I saw, discreetly omitting details about the woman's behavior as Kayla was present. She's seen worse. We entered the house, and the boss declared his plan to confront them. "Alright, on the count of three, I'm kicking this door down, and we will take care of them all except one. Are we ready?" We nodded silently. He only counted to one before kicking the door down. Everyone screamed, including the half-naked female. As he promised, he dealt with everyone but one guy. The man raised his hands, dropping the beer bottle to the floor.

“Ishia, I didn’t think you would find me so fast. What do I owe the honor of having the whole gang in my humble home?” Did he just say humble home? This place had nothing inside of it but a TV and a couch, nothing more. What was this guy hiding in the first place? Something tells me if I go looking for it, I will find it right away.

“Spike, Grandpa, will you do the honors of heading up there to find what is ours?” We didn't have to be asked twice. I took two steps at a time, and so did Hawk. I was ready to get this over and done with and head back home. We walked into one room; nothing was in there at all, no bed, no nothing. Another room was the same. I started feeling really uneasy about this, and there was a stench in the air, like the smell of rogues. I didn’t bother to open the door; instead, I kicked it down. What we saw was a shock. Inside that room were five cages; three were empty, and the other two had three women each inside. They looked beaten and bloodied. That's the reason why they smell the way they do. The girls in one cage started crying when they heard the door being knocked down. The other three looked at us like we were crazy or something. I could smell that they were wolves. How did he get wolves locked up in cages? One of the women turned from looking at me.

“Will you three shut the heck up? You're getting on my nerves. They're not here to watch us fight. If we heard correctly, the others downstairs are dead. They are here to get us out of here. Damn, I like her already.” Walking over to the ones that were crying, I tore off the door with my flesh burning from my hands, but it didn't hurt much at all. “Hey big guy, the keys are over there on the wall. You don't have to burn your hands.” This girl had a mouth on her. I kinda liked it. She’s tough and doesn’t take any crap. One of the girls tried to run out the door, but Hawk stopped her.

“I wouldn't do that. We have people downstairs waiting on us. If you go running down there, you will be shot dead. We’re not the type of people you want to mess with. Now, tell us who you are.” The girl was shaking so badly that I thought she was going to pass out. I didn't bother with the keys; I jerked the door off the cage, letting the other women out. They stood there looking at us.

‘My name is Vegas. We got here because he asked each of us to go out on a date with him. So I said, "Why not? I'm single, my mate is probably dead, so why not." He took me to a nice restaurant, we ate and left. The next thing I knew, I got knocked over the head and woke up two days late in this ****ing cage. He told us if we would fight for him and not lose, we would be set free. He lied; the girls that lost got killed. We are the only ones left. The last girl they took down, she had a smart mouth on her, so they took her downstairs to break her.”

“Yeah, about that. She's dead now,” Vegas shrugged her shoulders; she didn’t care; she was free now.

“So does that mean we get to leave now? I probably lost my job since I haven’t been to work in a few months, but I'm sure I can find another.”

“No, I don’t think so. Let's just head downstairs and see if old Panera knows where our money is at.”

mate bond. Sh*t, I didn't want another mate so f*cking soon; it's only been two years. Let me have my damn fun. But, I guess the Moon Goddess has other plans. I pretended I didn’t feel the sparks, I pulled her along with me walking downstairs. Once we got down here, I heard the jacka*s.

"So you found the bitches, so what, take those bitches I don't need them anymore." I didn't give the guy another chance to talk; I punched him right in the face.

"What the hell did you do that for, you fucking asshole?" I didn't say or do anything because the boss wanted me to leave him alone.

"The money is under the boards in this room Vegas told me." Ishia nodded, looking from me to the girl beside me.

"Alright, asshole, start getting these boards up and get my money out of there right now."

"And if I don't?" He didn't get time to say anything else when Ava shot him in the leg.

"If you don’t get your ass down on the ground and get the money from the floor, the next bullet will be in your fucking heart. How about that shit?" The man screamed out in pain, falling down before she could finish the sentence.

"Alright, alright, just don’t shoot me again, damn bitch!" Well, that was a mistake because Isiah shot him in the arm. He screamed out again, holding onto his arm. He didn't know whether to hold his leg or arm. He started taking the boards up from the floor. Once he was done, he pulled out ten bags. He had tears in his eyes. My guess is he was in some serious pain. Who gives a shit, we want what is ours. We didn't see the gun he pulled out. He started shooting at everybody; he shot three girls and was aiming at Ava when he got shot right between the eyes. We didn't know where the shot came from until we looked into the hallway, and there was Kayla with her gun in her hand. She was standing there looking around. She put her gun away then ran over to her mother, hugging her tightly. "Shh, sweetheart, I'm okay, I'm okay. Calm down, it's okay, honey," Kayla was crying. I never saw her cry before; I saw her pissed off and happy, but never saw her cry. I didn't like that at all. Ava was trying to soothe her daughter.

"I'm sorry, mom, but when he was aiming the gun at you, I had to do something. Please don’t be mad at me."

"Honey, I'm not mad at you. You did what you had to do. Now let's get the money and these girls so they can shower and rest up." We did what we normally did: poured gas all over the house, then set it on fire. By the time the fire truck gets here, it will be all over. It sucks for the other three girls. We headed out to head home; I needed to get this blood off of me.

"So you found the bitches, so what? Take those bitches, I don't need them anymore." I didn't give the guy another chance to talk; I punched him right in the face.

We headed home; I needed to get this blood off of me.

"Hello Kayla, my name is Mariah. I am your lycan. It's finally nice to meet you. Don’t worry, we won't shift until your birthday, but for some reason, the moon goddess decided to wake me up early. Was I hearing her right? She is awake now! Holy shit, I have my wolf. I'm thankful I won't shift until my birthday. I wanted that birthday gift for myself. I was looking into the mirror, and I saw her eyes glowing. They were a beautiful purple color, so beautiful.

“Well, are you going to say something, or are you just going to keep looking into the mirror at me?” I started laughing when she said that; she's a smart ass just like me. We are going to get along great.

“Hello Mariah, I'm Kayla. It’s so nice to finally meet you. We are going to be great friends.”

“Yes, we will. I watched as you shot that guy between the eyes. He deserved it. He was trying to hurt your mother. I'm glad we got there just in time. Your wolf won’t wake up until your birthday, so you will shift into her first, and then you will shift into me. Since you've been training, it won't hurt that much. But if you have a mate, he can take most of the pain away.” I couldn’t help but laugh about that. Me have a mate? I doubt I have one.

“I don’t think I have a mate. Most of the guys here either have girlfriends or are married. So either he's dead or across the country.”

“We will see once we are shifted, my dear Kayla, but you need your rest. I can tell you're tired, so let’s sleep. Tomorrow we train, and since you have me, your strength will be doubled now, and you will be able to heal faster.” Nodding, I knew I was tired, so I decided to head to bed. But before that, I linked my parents.

“Hey Mom, Dad, I have something exciting to tell you, but it can wait until the morning. I'm tired. See you out on the training grounds. Good night. Love y'all.” I shut the link off and then laid down. I was tired. I knew tomorrow was going to be all new for me.”

Vegas POV

I didn’t think I was ever going to be saved out of this damn cage. For months now, I have been fighting to be free. But I think this guy is keeping us so he could get more money. He says he owes the mafia money. Is this guy crazy? The freaking mafia. Was it the human mafia or the supernatural mafia? Who the hell knows. I knew they took one girl downstairs. I knew what they were doing to her. She ran her mouth so much they wanted to shut her up, that means breaking her down until she wouldn’t say a word from now on. I was leaning against the cage. Only the door had silver. I found that out when I grabbed the bars. My skin started burning right away, so I haven’t tried to touch it anymore. I knew my family wasn’t worried about me since he killed them. They came looking for me and he greeted them with silver bullets right in the head. That son of a bitch. I wanted to snap his neck right off. I didn't know what he had done to the bodies. He probably just threw them out in the woods or something. I was thinking so hard that the other girls in the cage screamed, making me come out of my thoughts. Someone knocked down the door to the room. Then this man came inside, I couldn’t stop looking at him. My wolf was howling like crazy. Mate, he’s our mate. Good goddess, a mate. Shit. The way I look, I am surprised he wouldn't reject me. Shit. I would even reject me. He turned from looking at me to the girls that were crying. This pissed me off. I was a little jealous because he was looking at them.

“Will you three shut the fuck up? You're getting on my damn nerves. They're not here to watch us fight. If you remember, we heard gunshots downstairs, so my guess is they're here to get us out of here. So shut the fuck up, or I’ll beat your ass.” I watched him smirk at me, then turned, snapping the cage door off its hinges. He was about to grab our door, but I stopped him. “Hey big guy, the keys are over there on the wall. You don't have to burn your hands to get us out.” He looked at the keys, then back at the door. He decided he wanted his hands burnt. He tore the cage door, throwing it across the room. It hit the other cages, making a loud banging noise. He told us about the girl who was dead now since they came into the house blazing with their guns, shooting all the guys. When we settled down, we walked downstairs where the jackass was. He called us bitches, and this sexy mate of mine punched him right in the face. Everything went down fast. Someone shot him in the leg, and then the arm. He was ordered to get the money, so he got it while crying over his bullet wounds. Suddenly, he pulled out a gun, shooting three of the girls. Then he pointed it at a woman. The next thing I knew, he was shot in the head, falling on the ground with a loud thump. We were now in the house of this man. I was pretending so hard that I didn’t feel the mate bond. I forgot to say good night to him, but this young girl showed us to our rooms. I ran to the shower, turned on the water, and then got inside, letting the water fall over my body. I washed myself three times. I just wanted to feel clean. That's all I wanted, just to feel clean. Once I was done, I dried off placing a towel around my body. I didn’t want to wear the same old clothes. I guess I'll sleep naked tonight. Walking back into the room, I saw clothes that were laid on the dresser. It was a pair of night clothes and a pair of jeans and a t-shirt with shoes that would actually fit on my feet. Thank goddess for clean clothes. I put the night clothes on and went to bed. I was so tired that I just wanted to sleep on a soft bed instead of a hard cage floor. This is going to feel so nice.

“Mate, what about mate, Vegas?”

“Mate is going to have to wait until we wake up. I'm exhausted. I'm sure if he wanted to see and talk to me, he would be up here doing just that, but he's not. So let's get some sleep.” I closed my mind off to her. She would keep nagging me until I got up and went to look for him, but I'm not doing that right now. If he wants to speak with me, he would come and talk to me. Right now, all I want to do is lay on this pillow and sleep. Tomorrow is another day. Let's see what it brings us, shall we?
