LOGINChapter 8
Gunther the rogue POV I don’t know how long I’ve been in this cell; the guards call them chambers. If it was a chamber, it would have a bed in here, but all I've been doing is sleeping in this stupid chair. I've been fed bread and water to keep me alive, and these chains are burning my hands and feet. I've been trying to link with the people I've been working with, but nothing gets through. I think they have blocked my links since I’ve been captive. When the door finally opened, I was hoping I could see if it was day or night, but I saw nothing but stairs. This sucks. I don’t even know how I got in here; I noticed it was the king and his little friend. If my hands were free, I would have shifted and killed both of them. I made a mistake by growling at them. The tallest man punched me in my nose, breaking it. Damn, that hurt. I couldn’t even put it back in its place because my hands were chained to this chair, so I knew it would look crooked when it healed. He started asking me questions, questions I did not want to answer, so I fed him a bunch of bullcrap. I didn’t lie when I told them my parents were dead, but I did lie about a few other things. He caught on to my lies quickly. When he did, he broke my kneecap. That hurt like a mother. I screamed out in pain when I felt the bones breaking in pieces. I knew it would heal, but as they shot me up with silver to burn my insides. They only gave me enough so I could feel it burn, but not to kill me. When I told him the half-truth, he saw through that as well. He broke my other kneecap with me, screaming my lungs out. He wanted me hanging from my hands with no food or water for four days, with twenty-five lashes every other day. I started screaming at them when they walked out the door, “YOU MOTHERF******, I SWEAR I’LL KILL YOU!!! I WILL KILL ALL OF YOU!!!!” I knew it wasn't the smartest thing to do to threaten the king, but the motherf****** not only broke my nose and jaw, he broke both my kneecaps with a f****** hammer for crying out loud. And he thought I wouldn’t say or do anything; just you wait, you son of a b****, I’ll get you and your whole f****** kingdom. Kayla's POV I was outside training with my parents. Dad was showing Mom how to shoot a gun the right way so she won’t shoot her foot off. I was on the mat training with one of the recruits; her name was Susy. She wanted to learn how to fight, so she came to me yesterday, saying it was just in case anything happens. She wanted to help protect the pack. I really didn’t think of this as a pack; it was my home, my family. This whole pack was my family, even though my grandparents didn't have all these people. But they sure had enough kids, and their kids had kids. But some don’t even live here anymore. They do come for dinner once a week; it's a must. You must be on your deathbed not to come for dinner with the family. Susy had short brown hair, she’s about 6.2 with hazel green eyes. She was wearing workout shorts with a shirt on, and she was already sweating. She's not used to training. When I flipped her over for the fifth time, she called for a time out. “Listen, Susy, I think you need to start training with the warriors; they will teach you a lot more than I can.” I mind-linked Pam. A few seconds later, she came running over. “Pam, this is Susy. She wants to learn how to help protect the pack family. I told her she needed to train with the rest of the group and that you can’t teach her. I will, but I think it's best that she starts with you first. That way, she can learn how to block and hit back quickly.” “Well, Susy, if that's what you want to do, I think you need to come meet the rest of the recruits. I will introduce you to the rest of the group, and once I feel that you are ready, you will be able to train with Kayla.” I somehow knew that Susy didn’t want to do that, but it's the only way. How else is she going to learn anything? I knew I could teach her so much. But I honestly feel that Pam needed to teach her more than she can come to me, and I can help her with the things Pam or the others couldn’t. But I promise you, Pam will teach her everything she needs to know, plus more. I had a feeling that Susy was going to be one of the best warriors out there. Let's just hope she knows how to follow directions. It was finally time to head inside so I could shower and relax. Mom and dad were under a tree talking, so I decided to leave them be. I ran inside to shower, dry off, and as always put on my sweatpants and hoodie. I grabbed my book and then started to read. This book talks about the old lycans and how they fight. I practiced some of their moves; it was pretty hard, but I am a fast learner. You can say I love to read; I have tons of books in my room. Dad had to put bookshelves in my room so I have a place to put them. Sometimes I go into town to the werewolf bookstore and buy some books. We have a huge library at home, but I've already read all those books. So I go and buy more and put them in my room so I can read them anytime I want. I know I read all about lycans all the time. My grandfather, Mercury, has a lycan and a wolf. I even saw them. Now that my lycan has surfaced, I want to know all about them. “Shit, I forgot to tell my parents.” “My dear Kayla, you should tell them right away. I have a feeling something big is going to happen soon, and we might find our mate before we even shift.” “Just because I'm turning twenty-one doesn't mean I want a mate right now.” “You will learn the moon goddess has reasons for everything, Kayla,” I said, rolling my eyes as I got out of bed, hoping that they were in the living room. I knew I needed to let them know; maybe they could even tell, but who knows? Just my luck, they were in the living room, cuddled up on the couch, watching a movie on the large screen. “Hey mom, dad, I have something to tell you, and it's really important.” They looked at each other, then back at me. Dad got the clicker off the arm of the couch, turning the TV off so I could have his full attention. “What is it, honey? Is there something wrong?” I shook my head no, then took a deep breath and told both of them. “My lycan surfaced a few days ago. She told me I won't hear from my wolf until my birthday. Her name is Sky, and I don’t know my wolf's name yet, but I have both. I meant to tell you a few days ago, but we've been busy with other things.” My mother jumped off the couch, giving me a huge hug. “Oh honey, I am so happy for you, sweetheart. We were wondering when she would surface, but I'm glad the lycan did first,” she hugged me even tighter. “Mom, I can’t breathe,” I said as she laughed and let go of me. “I’m sorry, honey, sometimes I forget my own strength.” Many years ago, my mother told me how she became a werewolf. She didn't want to be until she knew she needed to help, so my father bit her, and some of his blood went into her body. She was in a coma state for a few days. When she came out of it, she was a werewolf. There was a lot more, but it would take me all day to explain. My father finally stood up, hugging me but not as tight as mom did. “I am proud of you, Kayla, for letting us know. I knew there was something different about you. You seemed stronger. Then, when you got hurt the other day, you healed faster than you had been. I knew something was up. I was just waiting for you to tell us. Go and get some rest. Tomorrow is another day. We train, and then nighttime comes; we go on a collection. So get plenty of rest, okay?” “Yes, dad,” I said, hugging them both, glad that they weren't mad at me because I didn't tell them right away.Chapter 48William's POVWe woke up a little later than we should have. I was exhausted from the all-night driving to catch up with Luna and the others, so I slept in when I knew I shouldn't. I knew it was a bad idea, but I couldn't help it. Me being a leader to these guys was a bad idea on the Moon Goddess's part, but she insisted on this. I felt like I was letting her down. When we left the hotel room, I didn't know how long Luna was ahead of us, but I knew her car was not there. "Shit, I knew I shouldn't have slept in." But I also remembered we shouldn't be so close while she is driving. She would spot us and wonder why we are following them. We hurried to the car, then sped away from the hotel. I had to get the GPS out so I could see how far the castle was that Anna was talking about, her brother being there. It made me wonder if this guy is the real Lycan King. I remembered an old tale of a Lycan King. He only wanted the Lycans around; he wanted everything else dead. He wanted to
Chapter 47Dark Witch Tree (Sorry, I couldn't think of a better name to give her, lol)I was sitting on my porch enjoying the night. The owls were feasting, and I heard the snakes crawling around. When that girl came to me wanting some off-the-wall potion to make the king think that his mate was her, I thought she was insane. I've made this before long ago that the woman died because she didn't put enough in his drink. He was an alpha that everyone wanted, and she did, too. She decided to come to me and ask for it. I made it strong for her, warned her of the karma that it might cause, but she didn't care; she wanted it. I told her I wanted her first child, and she agreed. But things happened; she didn't put enough. They were in bed together when the potion wore off; the alpha killed her right there. Now, this girl comes to me asking for the same thing. I told her that I wanted to live in the castle, and she agreed. However, I had a feeling she wasn't going to live either. That girl is
Chapter 46Barry's POVIt had been a few days since I saw my daughter Angie. She told me she had plans for this little bitch, but what plans were they? I needed to let her know what my plans were before she did something stupid. I mind-linked her, telling her to get to my house now; she would be living with me so I could keep an eye on her. She didn't need to be living in the castle right now. I knew she didn't like the idea. I was waiting on the porch for her when she arrived, and she didn't have anything with her."Where the hell is all your stuff, Angie? I told you to bring it with you.""Dad, if they saw me take my things from my room and move in with you, they would think something is going on, and I don't need that right now. You said you had a better plan than I had. So before I tell you mine, you need to tell me yours. Besides, mine is already in progress." I couldn't believe my ears. What the hell was she doing that was already in progress?"Girl, I hope it's nothing stupid t
Chapter 45This is how William became part of the assassins.William's POVAs I slept beside my mate Anna, I came to realize something profound: I was part of a very strong family. It took me a while to understand this, but I am an integral part of this family. I often wondered how I could help them. While I slept, the moon goddess came to me. I knew she never appeared unless there was something important to convey. I found myself standing in the woods, arms crossed over my chest, simply observing. I was pondering why I was there until I heard her voice. I turned to see her: she had white hair cascading down her back, white eyes, and a white dress with a tribal mark on her forehead."I know you're wondering why I summoned you here, William, but I am forming an assassin group to aid Mercury's family. I know you well, William. It will be tough, but Anna's sisters, Luna and Kayla, are in dire need of help. A significant war is imminent as they seek to dethrone the king, who refuses to st
Chapter 44 Kayla's POVI knew I shouldn't have smacked him, but I was pissed off right now. How dare she kiss what is mine? I stormed outside; I wanted to go for a run. I decided to use my wolf form. This time it really didn't hurt that much. Once I was done shifting, I ran into the woods. It was amazing how it felt looking through my wolf eyes. Everything seemed different. I could see so many colors and smell the animals before I ran up to them. I jumped over a few logs, marked some of the trees. I was having so much fun. I even let Aurora hunt down a rabbit or two; she enjoyed the run as well. I found a small lake right in the middle of the land. I looked down into the water and noticed how silver my wolf was. I think I needed to shift into my lycan. If anyone saw me like this, they would probably try to kill me. So I shifted right into my Lycan. She roared and then sat down on a log. Her fingers went into the water, scooping up some water to drink. I looked down into the water and
Chapter 43Angie's POVThroughout the night, I kept hearing howling, screaming, and even some growling. What the heck was going on? I got up and looked out the window; oh, it was a full moon, a night when first shifters did their first shift. Smirking, I hope the one that shifts gets tortured from the pain like I did. Trust me, I felt like I was dying when I did my first shift. I don't like to shift that much, but when I do, I let my lycan run as long as she wants; it makes her strong. I looked further and saw Lucas picking someone up off the ground. Motherfucker, it's that girl's first shift, and he's carrying her. I bet they're going to mate and mark each other. Walking out of my room, I watched as he carried her to her room. He went in and out of there several times, bringing up a cupcake, then food to her. The last time, it took a while for him to come out. I thought that's when they were going to do it, but I didn't hear anything; these walls were soundproof, but every now and t
