LOGINChapter 15
Kayla's POV I made sure that the guy was long gone before I took the letter to my dad. Spike, Vegas, and I searched the woods to ensure he was gone. Walking into my dad's office, he was working on the computer when he saw us. He noticed the look on my face and then the object in my right hand. "What is that, Kayla?" I shrugged, handing it to him. "Some guy dressed in all black came out of the woods and handed it to me, asking me to give it to the person in charge. After he left, we made sure he was long gone before coming here to hand this to you. I didn't open it," I explained. He looked down at it and then back up at us. "Well, shall we see what it is?" He opened it up. It appeared to be a letter, and now I was curious about its contents. I didn't have to wait long because my dad began reading it aloud. By the time he finished, I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of addressing the letter to the "dear mafia family." They clearly had no idea who we were. As I listened to the rest of the letter: Dear Mafia Family, I am Duchess Sasha, speaking on behalf of Lycan King Lucas. I am unsure of how to begin this letter to your family. He needs your help as rogues are infiltrating our kingdom and there are individuals stealing money from us and our government. Though we suspect a certain individual, we have not seen him in years. Having heard of your reputed power and ability to locate debtors, we are willing to offer over ten million dollars for you to come here and uncover the perpetrators behind the thefts and the reasons for rogue intrusions. Duchess Sasha ‘Was this person for real? The only lycan king I knew about was my grandfather, Mercury Black. How is there another king out there?' Dad put the letter down on the desk, looking at us with a confused look on his face. Picking the letter back up, he read it to himself this time. He appeared more confused than before. His eyes glazed over as if he was linking someone. A few minutes later, both Grandma and Grandpa came into the office in a hurry. "What is it, son? What's the problem? Who do we have to kill?" I softly laughed. Grandpa was always eager to protect his children. Grandma was standing back by the door, looking displeased with her mate. She was glaring daggers at him, still upset after a few days. I watched Dad hand him the letter. He started reading it out loud so Grandma could hear what it said. After finishing reading, he placed the letter down on the desk. I couldn't deal with this anymore; I had to know what the deal was. "Grandpa, this man is claiming to be the lycan king. How can he be the king when you are the lycan king? What's going on here?" I heard him chuckle, then he walked over to me and held my hands. "Sweetheart, I'm not the lycan king. I was the mafia king. Trust me, if I were the king of all lycans or werewolves, there would be no rogues at all. This man needs our help, well, y'all's help. We will not be going; this is all up to you. I'm officially retired from the mafia," He turned to grandmother, who looked shocked. He walked over to her, smiling from ear to ear, "I plan on taking my mate on a long-overdue vacation. I don't care where we go, honey. It is up to you where you want to go first. We can go to Paris, Hong Kong; I don’t care, as long as we are going together." Dad cleared his throat, and we all turned around to look at him. I knew what he was going to say because he never says no to someone needing help, just like his dad used to do. If someone needed help, he would help. Mom walked into the room and said, "So, how are we going to get in touch with this so-called lycan king? We don’t even know where he is or how to get in touch with him." I think Dad was keeping Mom informed on things while she was at the doctors. We all stood there wondering the same thing. Is this guy really a king of lycans, or is that what they call him? I knew his name was Lucas because that's what they called him in the letter. So as far as I am concerned, his name is Lucas. He is no king to me. I never heard of him; neither have any of us. Why is he looking for our help when he is a so-called king? "Listen, everyone, we are going to need a team since Mom and Dad won’t be here. I'm going to need about twenty people. I know I want Spike, Vegas, Hawk, and, of course, my wife and daughter, Kayla. I want you to think about which of the warriors are the strongest; make sure they are. And I want ten guards to come with us. Grandpa, do you think your mate would come with us? I know she doesn't like using her magic, but if she could cast a truth spell around the castle, no one would be able to lie to us. Everything would be the truth." "Yeah, I'm sure she will go. She might even know a little about this lycan king. I'll ask her when I head home.” I am right here, and yes, I have heard of the lycan king. He had to be on the throne at a young age. He has turned everything around from what his father had done, in a good way, that is. But I haven't heard about him in so many years. What does he need, and when are we going?” ‘I don’t know; I don't even know when to leave here, to head there. We just got the letter today. I think that guy was one of his trackers that gave Kayla the letter, but who knows, all I know is the letter.” We were all thinking about the same thing, well, I think we were, when the phone started ringing. Dad just sat there watching it ring. Rolling my eyes, I decided I would answer the phone, “Hello, this is the mafia family. How can I help you today? For some reason, I thought I knew who this was. Could it be this guy who knows?” “So, have you all made your decision yet?” I knew that voice; it was that guy's voice. I decided to hand the phone to my dad. “It’s that guy who gave me the letter.” Taking the phone out of my hand, he answered the phone, "This is Isaiah. I am the mafia king. My father retired, and he passed the title to me. What do you need?” ‘What I need is your decision so I can tell the king whether I will not be bringing you or I will be bringing you. He needs your help,” “I don't see why you just couldn’t come here with my daughter, but since you decided to call, our decision is yes, we will help. Give me the address, and we will be there in a few days.” Dad grabbed a folder writing down a weird address. I thought we would be driving there; he was eighteen hours away. So, yes, we will be leaving tomorrow. If we only stop for gas, something to eat, drink, bathroom breaks, we would get there in two days. If we just stop for bathroom breaks and pack snacks, we would get there in a day and a half. We will see. He hung the phone up and told us to get the warriors. He asked dad to pick ten guards that he thought were the strongest. Once he has done that, he was done. ‘Son, when I said I was done, that means I'm done. You are the mafia king now, you will need to pick the guards. You have to learn, my son, all on your own. I have taught you everything you needed to know. Now it's your turn,” Mercury walked over to Cheyenne, holding her hands, he looked right into her eyes. ‘Cheyenne, I am deeply sorry for what I had said. I hope soon you will forgive me. But for right now, let's go home and pack. We have a trip to get to.” They left, leaving dad to get the guards together. He was right, dad needed to do this. I went to get the warriors. I went to twenty; I knew Red would want to go, even though he thinks he's a badass. Let's see how badass he really is. I got Kelly, Duke, Tole, and a few others. They too thought Mercury was the only king, but I had to explain to them what he explained to me. They were still confused but wanted to go to see who this man really was. I, for one, will get to the bottom of this. Once I find out the truth about who he really is, I will expose him to everyone because of his lies.Chapter 48William's POVWe woke up a little later than we should have. I was exhausted from the all-night driving to catch up with Luna and the others, so I slept in when I knew I shouldn't. I knew it was a bad idea, but I couldn't help it. Me being a leader to these guys was a bad idea on the Moon Goddess's part, but she insisted on this. I felt like I was letting her down. When we left the hotel room, I didn't know how long Luna was ahead of us, but I knew her car was not there. "Shit, I knew I shouldn't have slept in." But I also remembered we shouldn't be so close while she is driving. She would spot us and wonder why we are following them. We hurried to the car, then sped away from the hotel. I had to get the GPS out so I could see how far the castle was that Anna was talking about, her brother being there. It made me wonder if this guy is the real Lycan King. I remembered an old tale of a Lycan King. He only wanted the Lycans around; he wanted everything else dead. He wanted to
Chapter 47Dark Witch Tree (Sorry, I couldn't think of a better name to give her, lol)I was sitting on my porch enjoying the night. The owls were feasting, and I heard the snakes crawling around. When that girl came to me wanting some off-the-wall potion to make the king think that his mate was her, I thought she was insane. I've made this before long ago that the woman died because she didn't put enough in his drink. He was an alpha that everyone wanted, and she did, too. She decided to come to me and ask for it. I made it strong for her, warned her of the karma that it might cause, but she didn't care; she wanted it. I told her I wanted her first child, and she agreed. But things happened; she didn't put enough. They were in bed together when the potion wore off; the alpha killed her right there. Now, this girl comes to me asking for the same thing. I told her that I wanted to live in the castle, and she agreed. However, I had a feeling she wasn't going to live either. That girl is
Chapter 46Barry's POVIt had been a few days since I saw my daughter Angie. She told me she had plans for this little bitch, but what plans were they? I needed to let her know what my plans were before she did something stupid. I mind-linked her, telling her to get to my house now; she would be living with me so I could keep an eye on her. She didn't need to be living in the castle right now. I knew she didn't like the idea. I was waiting on the porch for her when she arrived, and she didn't have anything with her."Where the hell is all your stuff, Angie? I told you to bring it with you.""Dad, if they saw me take my things from my room and move in with you, they would think something is going on, and I don't need that right now. You said you had a better plan than I had. So before I tell you mine, you need to tell me yours. Besides, mine is already in progress." I couldn't believe my ears. What the hell was she doing that was already in progress?"Girl, I hope it's nothing stupid t
Chapter 45This is how William became part of the assassins.William's POVAs I slept beside my mate Anna, I came to realize something profound: I was part of a very strong family. It took me a while to understand this, but I am an integral part of this family. I often wondered how I could help them. While I slept, the moon goddess came to me. I knew she never appeared unless there was something important to convey. I found myself standing in the woods, arms crossed over my chest, simply observing. I was pondering why I was there until I heard her voice. I turned to see her: she had white hair cascading down her back, white eyes, and a white dress with a tribal mark on her forehead."I know you're wondering why I summoned you here, William, but I am forming an assassin group to aid Mercury's family. I know you well, William. It will be tough, but Anna's sisters, Luna and Kayla, are in dire need of help. A significant war is imminent as they seek to dethrone the king, who refuses to st
Chapter 44 Kayla's POVI knew I shouldn't have smacked him, but I was pissed off right now. How dare she kiss what is mine? I stormed outside; I wanted to go for a run. I decided to use my wolf form. This time it really didn't hurt that much. Once I was done shifting, I ran into the woods. It was amazing how it felt looking through my wolf eyes. Everything seemed different. I could see so many colors and smell the animals before I ran up to them. I jumped over a few logs, marked some of the trees. I was having so much fun. I even let Aurora hunt down a rabbit or two; she enjoyed the run as well. I found a small lake right in the middle of the land. I looked down into the water and noticed how silver my wolf was. I think I needed to shift into my lycan. If anyone saw me like this, they would probably try to kill me. So I shifted right into my Lycan. She roared and then sat down on a log. Her fingers went into the water, scooping up some water to drink. I looked down into the water and
Chapter 43Angie's POVThroughout the night, I kept hearing howling, screaming, and even some growling. What the heck was going on? I got up and looked out the window; oh, it was a full moon, a night when first shifters did their first shift. Smirking, I hope the one that shifts gets tortured from the pain like I did. Trust me, I felt like I was dying when I did my first shift. I don't like to shift that much, but when I do, I let my lycan run as long as she wants; it makes her strong. I looked further and saw Lucas picking someone up off the ground. Motherfucker, it's that girl's first shift, and he's carrying her. I bet they're going to mate and mark each other. Walking out of my room, I watched as he carried her to her room. He went in and out of there several times, bringing up a cupcake, then food to her. The last time, it took a while for him to come out. I thought that's when they were going to do it, but I didn't hear anything; these walls were soundproof, but every now and t
