LOGINChapter 16
King Lucas's POV I got off the phone with my tracker; he was now on his way home. He told me they have decided to come. I called Corey and Sasha; they said they will bring the best Brandy and Scotch. The others will be here tomorrow. No one will know that they will be coming. I knew I had a spy in this kingdom; I just didn't know who it was. I needed to find out who the spy is before they get here. That way I can handle this all on my own and just send them home. The Blacks will be here in a few days. He had told me that Mercury had stepped down and now retired from the mafia. His son, Isiaha, is now the head boss – great, someone that thinks he has all the power and is full of himself, another that I have to put in their place. Corey walked into my office, all smiles, something was up his sleeve, it made me wonder what he had planned. "What's up in that head of yours, Corey? You just don’t walk in here any time you want with a huge smile on your face. You have something up your sleeve, don’t you?" I knew I was right; he had something up his sleeve. He sat down propping his feet up on my desk like he always does, and I, in return, shoved them off because it made my brown marble desk dusty with his shoes. Then I leaned back in my chair with my glass of bourbon, drinking it down. "Yeah, I do have something in mind. You said these guys are the toughest out there, they have ruthless aggression and don't take mercy on anyone who tries to hurt their family. I say let's put our arena to good use. We can invite a few other packs to join. We can call it the best of the best. Whoever wins out of the packs can join our warriors, but they have to beat the strongest of our warriors if they want to join. But you know how some of these guys are, they will want to fight. Anything goes in these fights. I say let's do it." "Corey, do you realize we haven't done this in years? We will have to have our builders build on and then paint the damn thing in two days. Then we will have to send invites to all the packs. This is not a smart idea. If this was thought of weeks before then, it will be fine. But they will be here in a few days. How is this even possible?" He chuckled then tapped his fingers on the desk. Who says we have to build and paint it? We can invite the packs that are close by. I still thought this was a bad idea; I didn’t like it at all. All I wanted was for them to come, figure out the problem, and get rid of it. That's all I wanted. Corey wanted to show off our toughest guys. Sighing, I declined the fighting games, but it doesn't mean we can’t have it after we get done with everything, so that does sound better. "How about after they finish the job, we will have the fighting arena. We will send out invites two months from now. That way everything will be ready. They can train and get ready for the fights. I'll send them out; you just go ahead and get the royal workers to get it done. You don’t have to paint it; I want it to look the way it does, just build onto it." "Alright, I’ll get it done. The winners will join the royal warriors.” Kerry's POV: After I got off the phone with that crazy woman, I sent two of my spies to the mafia family. One of them has already contacted me and informed me that they are indeed intimidating people. The other spy mentioned that their daughter is almost 21 and has yet to shift. Knowing Red's disdain for weakness, I hope he doesn't do anything foolish like bullying the girl. I am uncertain about the timeline for this operation or when they will arrive. All I know is that the king has sent them an invitation to the kingdom. Do these individuals even know about the king? I doubt it. They are too far away, lost in their own world to grasp what's happening around them. They relentlessly pursue those who owe them, retaliating fiercely, often burning their targets' homes to the ground with the corpses inside. Sometimes, their victims are still half alive when the flames consume them, but it's their own doing. One shouldn't harm others when all they seek is what's rightfully theirs. Borrowed, time-bound possessions must be returned, and evaders will be relentlessly pursued, even over years. Fortunately, they have yet to track me down. I once borrowed money from Mercury Black when he was just starting out. I doubt he remembers me; it was before he met Cheyenne and endured the loss of his parents. I wonder if he ever discovered who was responsible. Thrust into the mafia world at a young age, he likely had other priorities. I suppose you're curious about how I know all this. To be honest, I've been watching Mercury for a long time, anticipating his pursuit for repayment. Yet, he never came after me. Did he even keep a record of our transaction? Probably not; he was too young to manage such affairs. Now, I must ascertain their arrival in the kingdom and contact Red for any valuable information. It's best to do so at night since he is surrounded by people during the day. Glancing at my watch, it read five in the afternoon. Just then, my phone startled me with an unexpected ring. I checked the caller's identity and answered the call. "I intended to reach out but thought you might be in a crowded place. What's happening?" I inquired, hoping for a useful update. Any information would be greatly appreciated to stay ahead of our adversaries. "I'm calling to inform you that the king has invited them. Kayla seeks to learn the truth about his identity. If I manage to persuade her that he isn't the king, she could align with us. Being human and yet to transition into a wolf, she will likely be easily convinced. We are scheduled to depart in a few days. Let's avoid further calls. I assume you'll also be present as a guest. Am I correct?" "Not sure if I will receive an invitation, Red. Just in case you spot me, let's maintain anonymity until the opportune moment. Disconnect now before you're discovered. We will converse later." With that, the call ended. Seated behind my desk, I surveyed the room. This game of psychological manipulation promises to be enthralling. If Kayla's wolf remains dormant, this will be a fascinating challenge.Chapter 48William's POVWe woke up a little later than we should have. I was exhausted from the all-night driving to catch up with Luna and the others, so I slept in when I knew I shouldn't. I knew it was a bad idea, but I couldn't help it. Me being a leader to these guys was a bad idea on the Moon Goddess's part, but she insisted on this. I felt like I was letting her down. When we left the hotel room, I didn't know how long Luna was ahead of us, but I knew her car was not there. "Shit, I knew I shouldn't have slept in." But I also remembered we shouldn't be so close while she is driving. She would spot us and wonder why we are following them. We hurried to the car, then sped away from the hotel. I had to get the GPS out so I could see how far the castle was that Anna was talking about, her brother being there. It made me wonder if this guy is the real Lycan King. I remembered an old tale of a Lycan King. He only wanted the Lycans around; he wanted everything else dead. He wanted to
Chapter 47Dark Witch Tree (Sorry, I couldn't think of a better name to give her, lol)I was sitting on my porch enjoying the night. The owls were feasting, and I heard the snakes crawling around. When that girl came to me wanting some off-the-wall potion to make the king think that his mate was her, I thought she was insane. I've made this before long ago that the woman died because she didn't put enough in his drink. He was an alpha that everyone wanted, and she did, too. She decided to come to me and ask for it. I made it strong for her, warned her of the karma that it might cause, but she didn't care; she wanted it. I told her I wanted her first child, and she agreed. But things happened; she didn't put enough. They were in bed together when the potion wore off; the alpha killed her right there. Now, this girl comes to me asking for the same thing. I told her that I wanted to live in the castle, and she agreed. However, I had a feeling she wasn't going to live either. That girl is
Chapter 46Barry's POVIt had been a few days since I saw my daughter Angie. She told me she had plans for this little bitch, but what plans were they? I needed to let her know what my plans were before she did something stupid. I mind-linked her, telling her to get to my house now; she would be living with me so I could keep an eye on her. She didn't need to be living in the castle right now. I knew she didn't like the idea. I was waiting on the porch for her when she arrived, and she didn't have anything with her."Where the hell is all your stuff, Angie? I told you to bring it with you.""Dad, if they saw me take my things from my room and move in with you, they would think something is going on, and I don't need that right now. You said you had a better plan than I had. So before I tell you mine, you need to tell me yours. Besides, mine is already in progress." I couldn't believe my ears. What the hell was she doing that was already in progress?"Girl, I hope it's nothing stupid t
Chapter 45This is how William became part of the assassins.William's POVAs I slept beside my mate Anna, I came to realize something profound: I was part of a very strong family. It took me a while to understand this, but I am an integral part of this family. I often wondered how I could help them. While I slept, the moon goddess came to me. I knew she never appeared unless there was something important to convey. I found myself standing in the woods, arms crossed over my chest, simply observing. I was pondering why I was there until I heard her voice. I turned to see her: she had white hair cascading down her back, white eyes, and a white dress with a tribal mark on her forehead."I know you're wondering why I summoned you here, William, but I am forming an assassin group to aid Mercury's family. I know you well, William. It will be tough, but Anna's sisters, Luna and Kayla, are in dire need of help. A significant war is imminent as they seek to dethrone the king, who refuses to st
Chapter 44 Kayla's POVI knew I shouldn't have smacked him, but I was pissed off right now. How dare she kiss what is mine? I stormed outside; I wanted to go for a run. I decided to use my wolf form. This time it really didn't hurt that much. Once I was done shifting, I ran into the woods. It was amazing how it felt looking through my wolf eyes. Everything seemed different. I could see so many colors and smell the animals before I ran up to them. I jumped over a few logs, marked some of the trees. I was having so much fun. I even let Aurora hunt down a rabbit or two; she enjoyed the run as well. I found a small lake right in the middle of the land. I looked down into the water and noticed how silver my wolf was. I think I needed to shift into my lycan. If anyone saw me like this, they would probably try to kill me. So I shifted right into my Lycan. She roared and then sat down on a log. Her fingers went into the water, scooping up some water to drink. I looked down into the water and
Chapter 43Angie's POVThroughout the night, I kept hearing howling, screaming, and even some growling. What the heck was going on? I got up and looked out the window; oh, it was a full moon, a night when first shifters did their first shift. Smirking, I hope the one that shifts gets tortured from the pain like I did. Trust me, I felt like I was dying when I did my first shift. I don't like to shift that much, but when I do, I let my lycan run as long as she wants; it makes her strong. I looked further and saw Lucas picking someone up off the ground. Motherfucker, it's that girl's first shift, and he's carrying her. I bet they're going to mate and mark each other. Walking out of my room, I watched as he carried her to her room. He went in and out of there several times, bringing up a cupcake, then food to her. The last time, it took a while for him to come out. I thought that's when they were going to do it, but I didn't hear anything; these walls were soundproof, but every now and t
