LOGINChapter 3
Cheyenne's POV I was just talking to Mercury about how proud I am of our son Isaiah. He has already collected several collections. I remember the first time my husband passed the title to him. He was just too young and not ready to be the mafia king. That was when he had met Ava, who was once human like I was. But things do happen, I got stabbed. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was still human. Mercury wanted me to come along. He was interrogating someone in a warehouse. One thing led to another. The guy went after my husband, and I got in the way and was the one who got stabbed. Mercury had to turn me into a wolf to save me. We were just too far away from the doctor, so he did what he thought was the right thing. Now we are retired from being the King and Queen of the mafia. We still go with our son from time to time, but I like what we do. I train the recruits; Mercury fights the rogues and still protects his family. Right now, I was outside with the recruits, including Taylor. I knew I was harder on her. I just wanted her to know everything and be strong when she shifts. She's a late bloomer; she was supposed to have shifted when she was sixteen. When she didn’t, we took her to the pack doctors. That's when he told us that her wolf was still asleep. Sometimes it happens to strong wolves. When she turns nineteen, her wolf will awaken, and she will shift. So, I am much harder on her. With all my kids, but she is my granddaughter. I had her run more laps, do more sit-ups, push-ups, squats, and much more. When she told me what she did last night, I could only shake my head at her. "Taylor, you know you can’t do that. You need to listen to your parents. Trust me, I know what you’re going through. You're just like your father. He had done the same thing, though he had his wolf at the time. He didn't like people threatening his father either. Once he tore the heart out of a guy just because he looked at his dad the wrong way. Your grandfather had to sit him down to explain he cannot do that. What if he was an important man? The wrong people might have come after us, and we would have been in deep trouble. We always have to be careful. Let them come after us first, and then we will do what we do—we destroy." I knew she was thinking hard about this. In the end, she understood. She didn't have a wolf right now. She could have gotten hurt if she had missed the shot; the woman could have had a gun and shot her. Then I would have had to hunt her down and rip that out apart. But I was happy that she finally understood. I was watching her spar with one of the girls. She was doing great. She was learning all the moves that she was supposed to know. She still got hit from time to time. Of course, you’re going to get hit; it happens when you train. Sometimes the other person is faster or stronger. It just makes you want to get stronger and faster; it's just the way it is in the werewolf world. Sometimes someone is stronger than you, but not smarter. You just have to outsmart them; that's all. When training was over, I told them they did a great job and to come back at the same time like today. I knew Ava wanted to speak to me. Something tells me it was about what happened last night with Taylor. This girl is just like her father mixed with a little of her mother. That's a dangerous combination. She was supposed to be at the house soon, so I hurried to shower, dry off, and got dressed. When I walked into the living room, she was there sitting on the couch with a glass of whiskey in her hand. This must be serious; she never drinks whiskey unless there is something wrong. I sat beside her, waiting to see when she will start. "Cheyenne, I don’t know if I can do this. I wait for him to come home, hoping he will be alright. Last night it was Taylor who shot someone in the head; the other time, she broke someone's neck. How the h3ll am I going to handle this? I knew what she was going through. I went through the same thing when I was just starting out to be a wolf. I wasn't sure if I could deal with being here the way Mercury was; he was very dangerous going on collections. I was scared when he would go out; I wasn’t sure if he would come back unharmed. Sometimes he was hurt, but he would heal. It still scared me. I had to be strong for her. She comes to me for advice, and sometimes I try to give her the best advice I can give. Other times, I let her work things out on her own. She has to learn on her own. 'Ava, honey, I was just like you once. I was scared; I didn't want Mercury going out either, but I knew he had to go get those collections or get that guy. Sometimes, I was even terrified. But you know what? He always came home to me. Sometimes roughed up, sometimes he wasn’t. He does this for the family, so the family will have a future. It's going to be okay, I promise. You will never get used to it, but you will learn to understand. Go with him on the next collection; that's what I did with Mercury. That's how I understood what he does and why he has to do it. Trust me, when I did, this might sound crazy, but I had a blast. I even helped sometimes. So go with him, I promise you won't regret it,' she said as she was drowning her third drink before finally putting the glass down on the table. 'You're right, Cheyenne. I need to go with him to understand all of this. It's been years now, and I haven't gone with him. I'll go with him next time when he has a collection.' 'Good, that's what you need to do. And for Taylor, I already talked to her. She knows she can't do that unless they try to hurt us first. She has to know that if she did that to the wrong person, we would be up shit creek without a paddle, and people would get hurt. So, we always need to be careful.' I hugged my daughter-in-law, then watched her leave out the front door. I knew she felt better; she wants to go on the next trip. I hope she is ready for this because sometimes things can get really dangerous. Let's just hope she doesn’t freak out too much. I know I did the first time. I sighed as I sat back; I could finally relax a little. Mercury will be home soon, he would go out with the warriors in the woods hunting down rogues. He still loves to go out with them, so let's see what stories he comes home with.”Chapter 48William's POVWe woke up a little later than we should have. I was exhausted from the all-night driving to catch up with Luna and the others, so I slept in when I knew I shouldn't. I knew it was a bad idea, but I couldn't help it. Me being a leader to these guys was a bad idea on the Moon Goddess's part, but she insisted on this. I felt like I was letting her down. When we left the hotel room, I didn't know how long Luna was ahead of us, but I knew her car was not there. "Shit, I knew I shouldn't have slept in." But I also remembered we shouldn't be so close while she is driving. She would spot us and wonder why we are following them. We hurried to the car, then sped away from the hotel. I had to get the GPS out so I could see how far the castle was that Anna was talking about, her brother being there. It made me wonder if this guy is the real Lycan King. I remembered an old tale of a Lycan King. He only wanted the Lycans around; he wanted everything else dead. He wanted to
Chapter 47Dark Witch Tree (Sorry, I couldn't think of a better name to give her, lol)I was sitting on my porch enjoying the night. The owls were feasting, and I heard the snakes crawling around. When that girl came to me wanting some off-the-wall potion to make the king think that his mate was her, I thought she was insane. I've made this before long ago that the woman died because she didn't put enough in his drink. He was an alpha that everyone wanted, and she did, too. She decided to come to me and ask for it. I made it strong for her, warned her of the karma that it might cause, but she didn't care; she wanted it. I told her I wanted her first child, and she agreed. But things happened; she didn't put enough. They were in bed together when the potion wore off; the alpha killed her right there. Now, this girl comes to me asking for the same thing. I told her that I wanted to live in the castle, and she agreed. However, I had a feeling she wasn't going to live either. That girl is
Chapter 46Barry's POVIt had been a few days since I saw my daughter Angie. She told me she had plans for this little bitch, but what plans were they? I needed to let her know what my plans were before she did something stupid. I mind-linked her, telling her to get to my house now; she would be living with me so I could keep an eye on her. She didn't need to be living in the castle right now. I knew she didn't like the idea. I was waiting on the porch for her when she arrived, and she didn't have anything with her."Where the hell is all your stuff, Angie? I told you to bring it with you.""Dad, if they saw me take my things from my room and move in with you, they would think something is going on, and I don't need that right now. You said you had a better plan than I had. So before I tell you mine, you need to tell me yours. Besides, mine is already in progress." I couldn't believe my ears. What the hell was she doing that was already in progress?"Girl, I hope it's nothing stupid t
Chapter 45This is how William became part of the assassins.William's POVAs I slept beside my mate Anna, I came to realize something profound: I was part of a very strong family. It took me a while to understand this, but I am an integral part of this family. I often wondered how I could help them. While I slept, the moon goddess came to me. I knew she never appeared unless there was something important to convey. I found myself standing in the woods, arms crossed over my chest, simply observing. I was pondering why I was there until I heard her voice. I turned to see her: she had white hair cascading down her back, white eyes, and a white dress with a tribal mark on her forehead."I know you're wondering why I summoned you here, William, but I am forming an assassin group to aid Mercury's family. I know you well, William. It will be tough, but Anna's sisters, Luna and Kayla, are in dire need of help. A significant war is imminent as they seek to dethrone the king, who refuses to st
Chapter 44 Kayla's POVI knew I shouldn't have smacked him, but I was pissed off right now. How dare she kiss what is mine? I stormed outside; I wanted to go for a run. I decided to use my wolf form. This time it really didn't hurt that much. Once I was done shifting, I ran into the woods. It was amazing how it felt looking through my wolf eyes. Everything seemed different. I could see so many colors and smell the animals before I ran up to them. I jumped over a few logs, marked some of the trees. I was having so much fun. I even let Aurora hunt down a rabbit or two; she enjoyed the run as well. I found a small lake right in the middle of the land. I looked down into the water and noticed how silver my wolf was. I think I needed to shift into my lycan. If anyone saw me like this, they would probably try to kill me. So I shifted right into my Lycan. She roared and then sat down on a log. Her fingers went into the water, scooping up some water to drink. I looked down into the water and
Chapter 43Angie's POVThroughout the night, I kept hearing howling, screaming, and even some growling. What the heck was going on? I got up and looked out the window; oh, it was a full moon, a night when first shifters did their first shift. Smirking, I hope the one that shifts gets tortured from the pain like I did. Trust me, I felt like I was dying when I did my first shift. I don't like to shift that much, but when I do, I let my lycan run as long as she wants; it makes her strong. I looked further and saw Lucas picking someone up off the ground. Motherfucker, it's that girl's first shift, and he's carrying her. I bet they're going to mate and mark each other. Walking out of my room, I watched as he carried her to her room. He went in and out of there several times, bringing up a cupcake, then food to her. The last time, it took a while for him to come out. I thought that's when they were going to do it, but I didn't hear anything; these walls were soundproof, but every now and t
