Darius’ POV

The dining hall was unusually bright that afternoon, with sunlight reflecting through the tall windows. I sat opposite Lily on the long dining table, her face beaming with a smile.

“I can’t wait to dig in,” she said, holding a golden fork as the maid served the food on our plates.

“You have all the food to yourself, my love. I can tell them to cook more if you want.” I replied with a smile on my face.

I was glad that she has fully recovered from the effect of the injection. The atmosphere of the dining hall was calm and peaceful, but my mind was the opposite.

I kept glancing at her to confirm if she still had any sign of weakness but she looked strong and happy. I had thought she was going to feel weak for the rest of the day, it was surprising how she looked as though nothing had happened.

The physician had told me that whatever it was that Malik had injected had been completely flushed out of her system. The fever had disappeared whilst she was unconscious.
