OLIVIA

The air in California?

Oh my God!

The air felt much lighter, I felt good!

The house was big, warm, and peaceful. The kind of peace that I needed. I slept better that first night than I had in weeks with Jenna sniffing every one of me.

The next morning, Jenna burst into my room, fully dressed and far too energetic.

“Get up, mamacita!” She said, “We are going out tonight.!” She squealed.

I groaned. “Jenna, I thought you said I came here to rest. What's with the going out thingy.”

“No, no. You can't be a killer joy, not today.” She replied. “If you ask me, I don't think you need to rest. You've been resting for the past two to three weeks now and all you need is a nice party to clear your crowded mind. You can rest for the latter. We're attending our college reunion party.”

I sat up. “A reunion? Since when?”

“Since now.”

“I wasn’t told about this.”

She waved me off. “You'll be fine, girl. Dress up and stop sulking around mamacita.”

“I don't want to see anyone from back then.”

“You won't die,” she said cheerfully. “Now, shower.”

She didn't give me space to argue.

~~

The party was louder than I expected.

Music, laughter and familiar faces that felt strange now. Everyone looked different from way back. Second time I would be coming up here after the large fight that happened way back because of me.

I stayed close to Jenna at first, avoiding every face, but she drifted away quickly, pulling into conversations.

That's when I saw him.

My high school crush, Kyle Robinson.

The one who caused a huge crash out of the last reunion, I swore not to come again.

He looked older and more confident now.

“Olivia?” He asked, smiling. “Wow, you look…different.”

I smiled back, surprised and wanting to find a way to avoid having a discussion with him. “Hi.”

We talked for a while, about life, work, where we'd ended up. It was comfortable and for a moment, I felt normal again.

Having a discussion with someone I once fought with.

Isn't that crazy?

Well, you can't blame me. He is more mature now.

And finally, when I was enjoying the conversation, he was pulled away by someone else.

I ended up at the bar alone, nursing a drink, then another. The room started to blur slightly and I became scared.

What if I act all out again?

Fortunately for me, I found Jenna.

“I'm tired,” I whined.

She studied my face for a moment, then nodded. “Don’t be such a bore, Liv. The party hasn’t even begun.”

“I feel so drowsy, stressed and sleepy.”

“Do you want me to send someone over to help you ease the stress?”

“Fuck no!” I said amid laughter.

“Okay fine, let’s get you a cab,” she replied, holding my hands until we got outside.

“Don’t stay awake, waiting. I might return late,” she added, placing a light peck on my cheek. "and also a little birdie tells me you'll be getting a little surprise from cupcake."

Cupcake?

Before I could ask what she meant, Jenna shut the door, waving at me until I was out of sight.

The girl loved me way too much and I was so lucky to have her.

The house was back to its quietness when I got back .

I kicked off my shoes as I headed to the kitchen, taking a glass of water.

My phone buzzed and I quickly checked it, hoping that I’d be—No messages from Ethan!

A wave of disappointment washed over me as I sat on the nearby stool. He didn’t even care.

I typed his name hesitantly on the i*******m search bar, and that was when I saw it…wedding pictures! It was all over his page, smiles, kisses, with thousands of likes and beautiful comments.

And when I finally thought it was over, the feeling gushed back in. I felt my chest tightened with pain.

I reached out for alcohol, pouring a glass and downing it at a go. And then, another and another, until I lost count.

I didn’t deserve this!

Since when was it wrong to be a virgin?

Since when was it a crime to wait until marriage…but what did I get from doing that? My fiancee fucking my cousin!

A tear slipped from my eyes as I stood up, drinking wouldn’t stop this pain, I needed to forget…I needed to erase this betrayal from my head.

I needed something new to focus on. I walked upstairs, my head hazy, and my steps unsteady.

But just as I reached my room, I froze.

There was a man in my bed.

Naked

Fucking naked!

I gasped, my eyes widening. “What…who are you?”

He sat up slowly, clearly confused. “Are you not my escort?”

I stared at him, obviously confused about what meant. “Did, Jen…” I stopped, shaking my head. “Did cupcake send you?”

He frowned, his husky voice, sending a vibration to my body. “What's the fuss about? Your company asked you to come here. Get on.”

Goodness Jenna...

This was the surprise she taking about?

I heaved a deep breath, staring at the sight before me—maybe it was finally time to let loose.

It had to be the alcohol, because instead of walking away; something a typical Olivia would do....I found myself moving close, and closer until I was standing inches away from him, our lips almost—I kissed him.

His cedar cologne invading my nostril and smelling so familiar like I had gotten that smell somewhere.

The kiss was desperate, clumsy and full of everything I was trying not to feel.

Goodness.

He broke the kiss, his hands wrapping around my waist. “Are you sure you are in for my kind of sex?"

I hesitated a bit, our eyes fixated on each other. He looked oddly familiar, I just couldn't rem—the bar!

This was the stranger I almost had a one-night stand with.

Shit.

I wanted to step back, but on a second thought, this had to be fate, right? Call me stupid, but maybe we were meant to sleep together.

My mind was made.

I wrapped my hands around his neck, pushing my body closer to his. “Yes,” I whispered. “Make me forget.”

******

I woke up, alone, very sore, exhausted and feeling sweet.

I lay there for a moment, reminiscing about all the things that happened last night. How the escort was shocked that I was a virgin.

The way he had unlocked a part of me I hadn’t discovered. The way his long dick had…Shit! Did I just get disvirgined by a stranger?

A smile crept on my face, I didn’t regret it. If anything, I felt relieved and light-hearted.

I sat up slowly, my body aching, my eyes scanning the room. It wasn’t mine.

I must have walked inside the visitor’s room sure to the alcohol. And then the escort, he had dressed and cleaned the room like a gentleman.

I stood up, heading to my room quietly. I showered, dressed simply in a polo shirt, and went downstairs.

Just as the hallway, I could hear Jenna’s loud laughter. I knew for sure, she was ready to bombard me with questions on how my night went.

But on entering the kitchen, I froze.

The escort from last night?

They were talking comfortably like they had known each other for years. Jenna was laughing, hitting his chest and the man was holding her hand.

What the heck was happening?

Why was he still here?

I thought it was a one-time surprise, or Perhaps he was her friend? But Jenna never kept male friends...

Jenna noticed me first and froze. “Liv…”

The escort also turned around and I could clearly see his face unlike last night.

Icy green eyes, broad shoulders, sharp jawline and every feature that made him older and sexy at that.

Jenna rushed toward me. “I promise. This isn't how I planned to introduce you.”

My brows furrowed into confusion

Introduce me?

“My father wasn't supposed to show up,”she continued, with a smile. “I swear. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable and I am just here scolding him.”

My head spun and my face dropped.

I haven’t gotten a chance to see him, since he was always very busy and on our first meeting, I…

Fuck, I slept with my best friend’s father?!

My heart faltered when she uttered those words. I knew she felt something, but learning she planned to do this for me felt like I had just conquered another battle. Before I could restrain myself, a smile spread across my face. I lifted her hand to my lips and planted a gentle kiss on her palm. “Thank you,” I whispered, and she smiled.I truly wished to let her head home, but then she drew closer. Her arms encircled my waist as she hugged me.“Your mother must be proud of you.” She murmured while offering soothing strokes on my back.My teeth grazed my lips as I wrapped her in my arms, she withdrew with her eyes sparkling brighter than the stars overhead.“You don't have to feel overwhelmed by everything. You just revealed a side of you I truly admire, and I'm hoping you will speak more often than sulking.” My lips twitched at her words.Trust me, I used to be carefree—not as much as Louis, but at least I loved to be with people I loved, and then things happened.Or would I say circ

In the car, my gaze darted to him as he clenched his hand tightly around the wheel. If it was the Adrian I once knew, he would have been furious seeing me with Mila, but the composed man before me now made me shift uneasily as I studied him. “Is something wrong?” I asked, and he let out a soft chuckle before glancing my way. “Yeah, I suppose,” he murmured, and suddenly the car screeched to a halt. He stepped out, opened my door, and guided me out. My brows furrowed when I realized we were at the beach. Why would he bring me here so abruptly? “What do you want to show me?” I asked again, and he exhaled as we walked closer to the waves. Just a few feet away, I watched him sink onto the sand. “I just want you to watch the view with me,” he said. If his voice hadn’t carried such calm, I would have snapped. Why bring me here just for scenery when all I wanted was sleep to prepare for tomorrow’s work? “You know this marks seven years since I lost my mother,” he blurted sudde

Just as my lips parted, she waved me off. “I knew you had feelings for someone else.” She cut me short, and my heart skipped a beat. There was no way she knew right?Right? Shaking the thought away, “How did you know... scratch that, I do like you.” The words escaped before I could stop myself. Even though my stubborn heart beat for that bastard, I could have sworn I felt something for her. Maybe what I felt didn’t have a specific name, but I was damn sure it was real. She chuckled just as the waitress brought our food. “I have been avoiding this conversation, but who knew that would be the first thing you’d say.” She spoke in a low voice. My stomach churned, but she continued. “I was hoping we would make a good couple, you know.” The way she bit her lips at that moment told me I had messed up.Messed up how peaceful my life could have been with her.How could I do this to her? “Mila...” “Oh, you don’t have to feel sorry for me. I’ll be fine.” She chimed in with a stif

My heart skipped at his words as I bit my lips. “I’m not a liar.” I tried to leave, yet he blocked my path. The closer I stayed to him, the harder my heart thumped as though it was about to burst from my chest. This wasn’t good. “So why is your face flushed like ripe tomatoes?” My lips parted then closed, unable to form a word. His hand brushed my cheek. “You don’t have to hide your feelings for me.” He said in a low tone. At that moment, I blinked back into reality, then pressed my hand against his chest, using all my strength to break free from his embrace. I refused to fall for his charm. Damn me, because I knew he might trick me into bending over the office desk and fuck me silly! And that is something I'm trying to avoid.“I’m not hiding anything. And if I have feelings for someone, why should I conceal them?” I countered with a glare. He was overestimating himself. Before he could speak again, I cut in. “If you don’t have anything else to say, I’m leaving now.” I mur

I shifted my gaze to the car that rolled closer before halting behind mine. My Capo and Finn rushed out, worry carved across their faces. Finn scratched the back of his neck. "Don..." he began, and I fixed him with a stare, silently urging him to spill whatever nonsense brewed in his head. "I think he realized we were coming and slipped away at the last moment," my Capo said evenly. I tilted my head, jaw clenched tight. "You're telling me he ran away after learning we were on the way?" I asked again. He pressed his lips into a thin line and nodded slowly. In the next instant, I raised my gun and aimed it at his skull. "So, who betrayed me?" I asked, cocking the weapon. Sweat streamed down his forehead, yet his face remained composed. Of course it did, any coward could never be my Capo. "I don’t think you need to—" The moment Finn tried to interrupt, I swung the gun toward him. He snapped his mouth shut and lifted both hands in surrender. "You know I'd never do th

I sauntered into my room with a lit cigarette resting between my lips. As I crossed one leg over the other, I dialed my Capo's number, smoke coiling from my mouth into the thin air.On the second ring, his steady voice came through the line. "Don, we tracked his location." Those were his first words, making one of my brows arch.It wasn't surprising. I knew he would get caught sooner or later."So, where did you find him?" I asked in a low voice, taking a slow drag from my cigarette. He cleared his throat. "We found him in one of his business houses. One is close to the airport, and the other is..." He paused briefly. "Close to the main house, boss."His words struck like thunder, carving a deep frown across my face.Ronan De Luca...He had a fucking house near my main house?"Are you certain about this information?" I asked, needing confirmation, because the last time I checked. Those lands weren't easy to acquire, and anyone who managed to own property there was far from ordinary.
