Lina's POV

Fright? I was supposed to do so, I wasn't going to lie because I was a mess inside of me but I held it back so well or maybe it looked that way to me because every single thing we're beating so fast, from my heart to my hand which was shivering and I had to place them on top of each other to stop it from doing so.

“ Well, well, you aren't going to give me an answer, are you?”

“That’s because you don't deserve one.”I wondered where the nerves had come from, I was never that way, not with anyone.

“What did you just say?” He sounded spell bound.

“ Come on, were you actually expecting me to beg? So you can blackmail me into giving you money? Is Josh doing so not enough for you?”

“ Lina,” he scoffed, running his tongue over his lips and I hated that light he was holding. “ You are supposed to be begging me not to report you, well.” he shrugged, lifting his shoulders.

“I won't lie, I was actually curious to see who it was Josh was with, I mean, he made a mistake giving me money and that was when I knew I had to see, so I pretended not really believing that I will luck this one out, I mean, they might leave together, but he actually did before you, giving me the opportunity to get your face.”

I knew I shouldn't have let him go before me, but what was I to do when I had these raging feelings? And thoughts? Once that was unable to be still and that had caused all of this.

“ Now that you have,what will you do?” I knew he wasn't going to be stupid to let people know about us.

It might take everything in him to release it, and right now, he wouldn't risk losing his job, which will cost him a lot,he needed it,a source of livelihood to continue living.

“ Well, you don't know what I will do, your brother will be on my list first of all, and after him, the next person has to be…”

“ And risk losing your job?” He stood erect, his eyes fixated on me.

I knew he had never thought I had this on me, I was always known to be the calm, cool, collected one, the one who doesn't talk so much and barely listened but they were all wrong because there were times when you needed to defend yourself and it will come in handy.

“ What…do you think you are doing?”

Now it was my time to shrug. “ Well, we both know you aren't going to say a word,don't make me go running off to my father, you know he will do whatever I want, and all it will take Josh are just words, mere words and you will be out.”

“ Take the money you were given, and shut the trap you call a mouth up, we did nothing wrong to you and you should keep it that way also.”

The light finally fell off my face, with him looking above my shoulders when I noticed he was looking behind me, throwing my head to stare, my gaze met with Josh furious one, his orbs a blaze of orange.

Well, well and here I was thinking he had gone, leaving me all alone to face this man.

“ I could sense it, the air,and I knew I just had to come back, I was waiting for you to step out, watch you leave, drive off, make sure you are safe before I did but you weren't coming so I had to come and search what is keeping you waiting.” he said to me.

“He stopped me” I turned to the night watch.

“From leaving, said something about wanting to know who you were with and he was actually trying to blackmail me, you know it's so funny because I thought he wouldn't do so.”

“You did?”

“ Josh…” he stuttered, staring at the grass, what exactly was so interesting that it had him looking? Because he didn't do that when it had to do with me, he was looking point blank in my face but somehow he had lost the urge to speak?

“ I'm listening.”

“ It's curiosity, I was just curious, everyone know you got engaged to Emily and I knew it wasn't her,”

“ Scram!” His tone reverberated.

“ What?”

“I SAID SCRAM!” He repeated again with the night watch wanting to leave when he pulled him back.

“A word, and I will hunt you down even after making sure you lose your job, I will make life unbearable for you and you know that I can do that.” he deadpanned.

This was the point where I scrammed as well, just like the night watch was given orders to do, but I couldn't find my legs wanting to move or rather I, wanting to go away from his presence.

When he turned to look at me, his eyes had softened. “ Nortia, I never knew, I'm sorry.” he apologized,giving my hand a tiny squeeze.

I knew this was none of this fault as I leaned into his arm.

“He wouldn't be a worry, I will make sure of that” he promised.

“As long as he doesn't go around talking, I guess we will be fine because if he does, then I can't guarantee what my brother will do.”

“You don't have to worry about him,”

“I am not scared about myself,I am about you. Your friendship is at stake and everything else as well just because I wanted an experience in dating, and it shows just how selfish I am and…” I wanted to say something else when he slipped a finger in-between my lips stopping me from saying one more word.

“It will never be your fault, you didn't force me into this, I was willing to do so and that's because it was you,” tiny feathers imaginary teased my heart, warming it up in an instant at his words.

“I know but I just can't help it.” I shouldn't care but Max will be enraged, we were both lying to him and we were both the ones he loved the most in his life, but it wasn't like he would have allowed us to do so.

Max will vehemently refuse for me to have anything to do with him so what was wrong with doing so behind his back? When he didn't know what we were doing? He will never come to know, besides it's just two months.

“I should get going now’’ the time was running out and I had to.

Turning on my heels, I moseyed across the field, making my way toward the car when Josh held me back, stared hard at me before brushing his lips against mine leaving me stunned.

Gulping in,I made my way to the car, sliding in before making my way home, this was more than everything I had wanted. Blazing the music on my way home, my heart panted so hard when I drew closer to the pack house.

I killed the engine just in front of the house, stepping out into the house when a brooding look peered at me

“Max” I called, shocked to see that he was still home even after the meeting must have run out.

His eyes roamed through the outfit I had on before the question came out.

“Where are you coming from?”

I stopped in track, gauging the atmosphere, mustering my words.

“A date, you said I should go out more often”

“With Darren?”

“Someone else,why must it be just Darren?”

“That's because it's Darren, it's him.”

“What is so special about him that I have to go out with just him, I don't want to do so, I want to try dating others and I will.”

“Nortia, you can't.” I was walking up the stairs already, not wanting to give into how overbearing he was.

In the safety of my room, I slammed the door hard not listening to what he had to say when his words came in;

“Fine, tomorrow you will show me who your date was, and I will vet him for you, with Josh, we will do the work together” his voice came through.

How exactly was that supposed to happen when my date was Josh?
