Lina's POV
A date Josh had said and oddly, I was out of the house when it was six, it had been easy to sneak out since my brother seemed to be busy with my dad, the school seemed deserted when I placed a foot in and dragging in a deep breath, I wondered what exactly it was that must have prompted him in insisting that we met in here, there were different places that we could have met aside the school. I was a bit skeptical about being here at the moment because it felt like anyone could see us,not all students would have gone home and we were at a higher risk of being caught here than anywhere else. Letting my thoughts run wild, I had a finger in-between my lips, chewing on it before turning around as I sauntered over to the school field where he had given direction that I was to be at. It was calm, and dark, chills ran down my arms wondering if this was it at all, I knew so well that I had the time to leave, it was still early and I could do so, but somehow I wanted this, whatever time I would have with Josh, I was ready to indulge in it. “Hey.” A whisper had me jolting around, which gave me the answer to the fact that I wasn't alone, we had both decided to show up early and I wondered if there would ever be a time when he would have an atom of feelings toward me. Whoever was the girl who he turned out to be in love with will be so lucky, if indeed he got out of the engagement, I will do this, not just for me, but for her as well,a girl's girls and there was nothing wrong in helping her safeguard her man until I handed him over. “ I said seven, you are here early.” he said to me, walking out of the shadows and I could make out his eyes even from the dark, they seemed to sparkle and they melted into tiny crystals when they fell on me, or was I over reacting? He was fitted in a deep blue trouser, a white T-shirt with a v slanting downward to his neck, sandal to match and a scent that lurked over us and was pulling me closer to him, damn it anything would have done the same to me as long as he was the one in them, and his leg, those long legs, the thing they could do. I quickly clasped a hand around my mouth, shocked at the thoughts that were beginning to sieve out which certainly wouldn't be mine because how exactly did I turn out to be that way? “Lina” he called, my name slipping out like caramel on cookies. “ Huh?” I flicked my head at him, wanting to know what it was he had called me for. “ Your cheek, why are they red?” My hands flew to my cheek while I wondered how it was possible that he had seen that in the dark, did he have hawk eyes or something? “ They aren't.” I rebuffed. “ They are.” he insisted, edging closer while I took steps backward, while he inched closer until my back slammed a cold surface and he had me caged in between his legs, my eyes fixated on his. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for those sexy lips to drop on mine, my heart panting while my hands were sweaty but they weren't forthcoming. Light shone on us, so bright that it had me shrinking with his huge frame covering us. “Who's that?” I could make out the voice to be the night watch. I thought Josh would have that settled out, so what was he still doing here? Fuck. I breathed out. This was so risky and I shouldn't have allowed this happened, now we were going to be caught and I will be seen as the home wrecker as he haven't let go of Emily yet. “ It's Josh” his voice still came out gruff as he answered. “Josh, oh shit, what are you doing here? I know that isn't Emily, but I wouldn't say, have a good time and it's getting dark, you should probably go home” My legs ran over each other at his words, agitated by it all when he finally strolled away with Josh hot on his heels. It was good that he didn't know who he was with, but he might have put two and two together… Shit. I cursed. I seemed to be doing that a lot recently, but thinking about it, he wouldn't think I was the one, there were numerous girls in the school who looked like me and with how much everyone knew Josh hated me, I will be the last person in his mind. I watched dimly as he ran a hand in the air, before another racked through his hair which I could tell was out of frustration before he let out a cackle which jabbed at me all the way here. “Thank you” I heard him say before he strolled over to where I stood, sighing. “ That was close.” “ Coming here was a bad idea.” I pointed out, knowing there was no way else I would have wanted it, it was the truth and I was so sure he knew as well. “I was thinking there wouldn't be a lot of people here and that's why I decided that we meet here, I will make a better choice next time, out of town will be better, where no one knows us, what do you think?” “It's okay.” it was the only feasible option and he ought to have known as well so I wasn't actually going to haggle or sort with him at the moment. I was startled when he grasped my hand, holding it so suddenly that it had me flickering my head at him, at a loss at words to say. “ That's sudden.” “ Darren, you said you had nothing to do with him.” Was he jealous? Scrap that, there was no way he would be jealous so I must be overthinking but edging him into thinking that wouldn't hurt, would it? “ I said that?” I enquired when his voice came out gruff. “ Nortia,” he called, a warning edging at the end of his lips as he did so. “ You shouldn't play with something hot.” “ I have always done that and there's nothing wrong with doing that.” I retorted. “ For two months, I won't say I own you, but I expect that I will be the only man who comes close to you aside from your dad and Max, you said you wanted the dating experience, then I'm giving you the best.” At that moment, I wished there was something else aside from this, if he could love me but I had to do with what I have. “I won't let anyone close to me.” I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, his fingers doing so before I could complete it which only confirmed the suspicion of his hawk eyes. “Now, let's get you home.” “I will go myself, you driving me home will raise suspicion.” he raised his head at me as though in thought before he bobbed his head, strolling off. I had a hand on my chest, watching as he did and when he was finally out of sight, I walked out, when a hand twisted mine, forcing me to meet him. I was stunned when I came face to face with the night watch who I thought had left, his face spiraled into shock when it met mine, and in a mocking tone, he said; “ Lina? With Josh? Wow, does Max know about this?”Lina's POV I had a sleepless night as I could barely think of what to say to Max whom I knew could be pretty persistent when he wanted to and it didn't even help at the moment. Inhaling deeply, I plopped on the seat just beside the dressing mirror in the room, the led lights glaring at me as I did so, I gulped in my nervousness before running a finger on my lips as I flicked my head around. With ease, while counting down the hours, I went through my morning routine before picking up my bag as I walked down the stairs which led to the table where I was so sure my family was having breakfast. The gazes thrown at me confirmed what I had thought, I hadn't covered up my dark eyes properly and now everyone could see that, way to go Lina, I mouthed at myself. “Good morning princess” my mom cheered, looking at me when I strolled in. “ Are you okay?” Worry laced her tone as she enquired. “ Your eyes, you look stress” “ I'm okay, mother,” I explained, trying to get Max's eyes off me even
Josh's POV When was the last time I felt this sated? I questioned myself repeatedly as I watched her walk away, stepping into her car before she drove off before I got into mine, driving slowly behind her just to make sure there wouldn't be a repetition of what had happened in the school field all over again. I had been wrong in my path, I haven't thought about the fact that anyone might see her, I was blinded with my rage that somehow Darren had been able to get across to her and so, I needed to make sure that it wasn't so, and when I finally did, I felt so glad that it was hard to keep my emotions at bay. The thing was to get her to fall in love with me within two months. I really hoped that I would be able to, if I could, it would make me the happiest man in this universe and even among all the planets. “ Shit,” I cursed when I noticed she had finally driven down to the lane which led to their pack house and knowing that she was safe in the comfort of her home, only then was I
Lina's POV Fright? I was supposed to do so, I wasn't going to lie because I was a mess inside of me but I held it back so well or maybe it looked that way to me because every single thing we're beating so fast, from my heart to my hand which was shivering and I had to place them on top of each other to stop it from doing so. “ Well, well, you aren't going to give me an answer, are you?”“That’s because you don't deserve one.”I wondered where the nerves had come from, I was never that way, not with anyone. “What did you just say?” He sounded spell bound.“ Come on, were you actually expecting me to beg? So you can blackmail me into giving you money? Is Josh doing so not enough for you?” “ Lina,” he scoffed, running his tongue over his lips and I hated that light he was holding. “ You are supposed to be begging me not to report you, well.” he shrugged, lifting his shoulders. “I won't lie, I was actually curious to see who it was Josh was with, I mean, he made a mistake giving me mo

Josh's POV I was unable to take in the cookie I had in-between my finger immediately I heard the word Darren had just said. What exactly does he mean by Lina was in love with him? Or had interest in him?Has he even taken a proper look at himself in the mirror to consider if he was her type first of all? “Let me have that” Max slipped the cookie off his finger, throwing it in-between his lips before he closed his eyes shut, savouring how sweet and perfect it tasted. “That is good, your mum right? I have missed her cooking” My mother was hell of a cook but that wasn't what I was here for, what I was here for was the sudden interference of Darren, why exactly does he think he can just step in here, say words like that and be left alone? Eyes were already on me and Max, because everyone knew what exactly happened whenever anyone professed their love for Lina, we made sure whoever it was immediately detoxified such feelings or so called love for her. We had always been doing that, a
Lina’s POV “ What do you think you are doing?” I asked Josh when he tugged me away, everything had happened so fast. How was it possible that he had been able to ditch Emily so fast and my brother as well, Max? Oh my God. I clasped a hand against my mouth, scared at what was going to happen. If we were found here together. “ What do you think you are doing?” I asked again when I didn't get an answer to the fast, he was pulling me so fast that I didn't know what to make about this. Why was it that he couldn't even think? And why does it have to be now? “ I needed to get your attention, you left without saying a word to me” he said, shutting the door. “ That's because I don't have anything to say to you, you know that”“Lina, I had to explain, you know we had things planned out, I never knew that was going to happen, I never wanted the engagement, and you know about that, you know I have someone I love, someone I want to keep by my side for the rest of my life and that isn't Emily
Lina’s POVI should have been ready for it, but the announcement had come so quickly that I wasn't expecting it. I didn't know what to do nor make a move but I stayed, watching every single thing. I wasn't going to lie but I hated it, hated the fact that Josh's eyes had remained on me while he stood on the podium getting engaged to someone who wasn't supposed to be his wife. Maybe, I had been thinking too much or I must have expected too much of myself, what do I have that Emily didn't? She was always going to be the perfect match for him, the one who he had always wanted, to him, I will always remain the little one who kept straddling in whatever function he was in, the one who was always going to make a mess of herself, the one he always had to look out for so she wouldn't make things worse than they already were. “I will leave first” I mustered up a smile on my face, sauntering out of the hall while Darren was fast on my heels, the music had resumed and the last I had seen was J
Josh's POVEmily's eyes travelled between I and Lina, her eyes dimming in on us before she tore her gaze away. “What are you both doing here?’’ Lina took a step back, attempting to walk away when my hands wrapped themselves around hers, jerking her toward me. “Josh!” Emily called out, barely taking a gasp as she questioned. “ Is this what is it? Does Max know? What you are doing?’’“What do you think we are doing? You found us talking, that's all”Her hands went underneath her boobs in a fold before her words rolled out of her lips. “Weren’t you talking about getting rid of the proposal, which you know well enough that you won't be able to? I won't let you to anyways, and you have no other choice than to go along with it”Lina heaved behind me, before rasping out. “I'm leaving, I have to find Max, my parents will be worried, congratulations Emily, Josh loves you a lot” she whispered before walking away. My hands clasped together, watching her footsteps, each short and angered. “We
Josh's POV It was those eyes, her hazel orbs that pierced through me as she whispered my name with so much pain, that had started all of these, these feelings that wouldn't just fade. My hands wrapped firmly around her, the surrounding fading out for a bit before she shook my hands off, standing upright on her feet. “ Father, what are you saying?” I asked, hoping with everything in me that he hadn't meant what he had just said. He had promised me that I was going to choose my Luna, and that was after I had mentioned how much I loved the relationship he had with mother. This was clearly contradicting that. He let out a sigh, a hand on my shoulders, before he said. “ Come with me, let's talk” I gave Max a wry smile, one that didn't get to my lips before storming off. The door shut behind us when I stepped in, waiting for what would be his excuse. “ Josh, you have to understand that I didn't have much say in this, I heard Emily likes you and…”“ And what?” I was intercepted. “
