Inner Contradiction

Aaron had never intended to come late. He was a person who valued time. Aaron would've not broken an appointment he had made, even by arriving beyond the promised time. Aaron didn't like to wait long or been awaited by someone because of his mistake in neglecting to estimate his arrival. Punctuality was a must unless there was an urgent situation.

However, a sudden abrupt did occur. The wife of one of his grandfather's essential clients visited his mall unexpectedly. Aaron, as the CEO, inevitably had to see the client and accompanied her around. Of course, for shopping. And the world knew how much women enjoy these activities that made them forgot the time. And he had no choice other than to be by the client's side for several hours later.

He wanted to tell Helena because no one liked to wait indefinitely. Furthermore, he didn't know how long the activity would last. However, he didn't do it. There was an ego that forbade him to do so. Suddenly, there was a desire to make Helena angry.

His wish came true. Helena was angry at him for being late for more than two hours. He knew that he was wrong, not only to Helena but also to the boutique owner, who was waiting for him for the fitting session. Aaron admitted it. Therefore, apologizing was something he must do. "Sorry, I'm late. I have an important client I need to meet," he said to Jane and ignored Helena's question.

"It's okay. I understand. You must be very busy. Helena said that there was an important meeting you must be attended and couldn't be postponed," replied Jane.

Aaron raised his eyebrow, quite surprised to hear that fact. Helena? Helped him? His eyes glanced briefly at the woman who was busy doing her makeup not far from him. Helena and all her charms were there, trying to lure him.

If he must be honest, Aaron was a little grateful because the woman he was going to marry was Helena. He really couldn't imagine what his life would be like if he married a woman he didn't know. And what would happen to his lover? There was no desire to substitute or cheat on anyone, even though the marriage occurred due to coercion. He had to choose between Helena or the woman of his grandfather's choice. That situation made him frustrated to the point of throwing hurtful words toward her lover.

However, the guilt faded away when he found Helena among the Brown family. His ego felt cheated, even though another part of him said he contributed to creating the feeling. And he had hurt his woman without finding out the truth beforehand.

"Here, Aaron, your suit," said Jane while showing Aaron two sets of well-made suits dominated by dark colors. "This one is for the vows." Her hand pointed to a black suit with a white shirt inside. "And this one is for the evening party." She was referring to the navy blue attire on her right hand. Then, she handed the clothes to Aaron. "You can use the dressing room over there," she added after seeing the closest fitting room was full of Helena's belongings.

Aaron took them from Jane, then started walking towards the direction she pointed. It is a prominent place, so it must have several dressing rooms. And indeed, no more than ten meters away, he had found another room to change. He made sure to close the curtains tightly before taking off what he was wearing.

He chose a black suit to try on first. There was nothing special about the outfit. His work suit also had a similar model and was dominated by black. Countless how many white shirts, pants, and black coats he had to produce an eye-catching monochrome combination. Oh, the bow tie. There was no way he would wear the accessory on weekdays and only worn in special events, such as his wedding.

He saw his reflection in the large mirror in front of him. He tried to move his hand to test the convenience while doing some activities. No problem. His body could move freely. And he felt comfortable wearing it.

"How're the clothes?" Jane asked after seeing Aaron came out of the room.

He didn't know since when Jane moved her positions not far from him. Perhaps, this was part of her professionalism to accompany clients while trying on her clothes to get satisfaction from them. Or maybe, it was an exceptional service because he heard that the family of his future wife had been using her services for a long time. Whatever the reason was, Aaron appreciated Jane's efforts and was satisfied with her work so far.

"Good," said Aaron briefly.

"Are there any parts that feel uncomfortable?" Jane asked again.

Aaron shook his head. The clothes fit her body perfectly. Not too big and not too small. And most importantly, they were comfortable to wear.

Jane circled Aaron's body. Her eyes closely scanned the man. She wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the suits because appearance and comfort are the two things she sells through her works. She certainly didn't want any problems that could affect her credibility in the future.

Jane ended her observation with a satisfied smile on her face. Then, she pinned a mini flower on the collar of Aaron's coat, which further clarified the purpose of the clothes. Wedding. "Aaron has finished. You want to see him, Helena?" She reported to his future wife.

Aaron thought Helena would not be interested in seeing him. And he was also not interested in showing himself to her. After all, Helena could see him there, though it wasn't as straightforward as she was looking at him closely.

It turned out that Aaron was wrong. Helena walked toward him with such graceful steps. She slightly lifted her skirt to make it easier for her to walk with her pretty high heels. The flower-embellished dress deserved to be worn by her. Adding with the polished makeup on her face, Helena looked so gorgeous.

"Helena is beautiful, isn't she?" said Jane as if voicing Aaron's thoughts.

Yes, Helena was beautiful. With or without makeup on, Aaron would always think so because she was an exceptional woman. For that reason, he didn't want to let Helena stepped out of his life. "Yes. She is always beautiful," he replied softly.

Helena stopped right in front of Aaron. Her eyes fixed on his. It was so different compare to when they were a lover. Ah, he missed those days. The moment where their relationship was good that hadn't even been a month passed. But why did it take so long?

The status as a lover should still be stuck on the two of them. There was never a word for breaking up from them, likewise with the desire to end their relationship. Instead, their status would escalate to husband and wife in the next few weeks.

But in reality, there was a setback in the relationship between Aaron and Helena. There was no more communication between them which practically started to distance their relationship before. Aaron had thought of carrying on with their relationship. If necessary, they could start over.

But apparently, his ego needed to be satisfied. Until his disappointment was gone, he didn't want to be too attached to Helena. And it seemed that she felt the same way, considering how cold her reaction was when she was around him. Love was blocked by ego. How long would he be able to endure it?

"What do you think? Aaron is handsome, right?" Jane asked Helena a similar question.

Helena watched Aaron from top to bottom. She was satisfied as a sweet smile curled on her lips. "Yes," she said with a slight nod of agreement.

Oh, Aaron wanted to hug her.
