CHAPTER 23

AMARA POV.

The swoosh of the blades of the helicopter nearly lulled me to sleep as I sat next to Ace. The evening was actually enjoyable and a smile formed on my lips as I thought back to everyone that I met. I half expected them to treat me like an outcast, but I was warmly welcomed. I wondered if this was due to me being at Ace’s side but there were times that Ace had to leave me alone to speak to other alphas and the people that he left me with were kind. To my amazement, there were others like me too. Human. They were the mates of others that were there, I was the only human that was ‘mated’ with an alpha at that event. It still felt strange to use the words like mating and marking and bonds and so forth but I was getting used to it.

The helicopter landed with a soft thud, that stirred me back from nearly falling asleep. I caught Ace smiling at me as I righted myself as I found that I was dozing of on his shoulder and to my honour he didn’t say anything about it. Ace helped me o
