Familiar Faces

The world around Amelia swirled as pain shot through her lungs, causing her to burst into a fit of coughing while a warm hand pressed against her arm to hold her in place.

"Wah..." she managed between fits. "Who?"

"I leave you for a few days, and you’ve already gotten yourself into trouble."

Gasping, Amelia’s eyes fly open as she takes in the small hut around her, but it’s only when her eyes come to find Bryllie that she lets out a sob of both relief and sorrow.

Slowly sitting up, she reached out and grabbed Bryllie’s hands, giving them a tug so that she could hug her friend.

"What are you doing?"

"Thanking you." Amelia whimpered, tightening her hold. "But how was it possible that you were there at just the right time?"

For a moment, Bryllie doesn’t speak. Instead, she wraps her arms around Amelia and pulls her close.

"I was worried." She murmured, burying her face in Amelia’s shoulder. "Something about that wolf doesn’t sit right with me."
