Sienna's POV
The café was full of life, packed with the smell of new coffee mixing with the sound of glasses and soft talks. I got there some minutes early, picking a table by the window where the sunlight shone gently on the wood. Outside, folks rushed along the paths, but here it seemed to be another world warm, calm and filled with a nice cozy smell.I put my bag on a chair next to me, taking out the water bottle I got ready at home. But when I saw the menu on the table, I couldn’t help it. It felt wrong to be in a café without getting something. My fingers ran over the drinks list, latte cappuccino caramel macchiato. A little smile came to my lips as I picked a warm vanilla latte, the drink that always made me feel bet͏terThe server came by with a nice grin, wrote down my request, and left. While I waited, I took out my old notepad. The empty page looked at me, tempting me to jot something down. I held my pen tight, trying to let the thoughts come out. BSienna's POV I whispered, "He's mature enough, doesn't he?" With a single glance towards the same direction, Liam nodded in agreement. "It's too fast to judge. But I'm proud." I nodded slightly, my gaze fixed on the classroom door that had recently swallowed this little creature. It was so beautiful. There was an odd sensation in my heart - pride, happiness, and some discomfort. It felt like yesterday when I taught him how to hold a spoon properly, but now he's big enough to walk into his classroom and not look back.Standing beside me, Liam was silent and didn't speak much, but his presence alone reassured me. We were still in the cool morning air, but the sun was heating up our skin. There were more children coming in, with some running around and others crying to have their hands on him again. A familiar rhythm of soothing parents, teachers, and swift movement of children arose in this morning.I breathed deeply, striving to keep the tension in my mind. On
Sienna's POV The freshness of the morning was palpable when we all left the house. As the sun rose from the sky, it was reflected in the trees along the roadside. With his new backpack on him, Noah shuffled between us and bounced back with ease, appearing to be too big for his small size.My fingers were tighter as he softly said, "Mommy, I'm apprehensive." "I smiled and curled up to fit in with his height. That's the way it was." Everybody's heart goes crazy on the very first day. It's within my capabilities to acknowledge that you can.Liam, positioned on Noah's opposite side, gently stated, "Dad and Mommy are here for you whenever you feel anxious." Noah nodded and his face lightened up once more.We proceeded towards the car that was parked in front of the house. Despite the cool morning air, we were all enveloped in a strange warmth. Noah made small steps before turning around and calling out, "I'm sitting in the back, Mommy!" as he continued on.
Sienna's POV I stopped for a moment, pretending to fixate on the soup. Why? He said it with clarity, but there was a chill in my heart.I divided the hot soup into two bowls and placed them on the table after a few minutes. Then we started eating, and I was sitting facing him.I smiled when I first savored it. "It's still tasty," I said.As he chewed, Liam nodded and said, "It's not good. It tastes like home." While trying to understand his words, I glanced at him briefly. But his eyes were too warm, and too honest. I remained silent, waiting for the right moment to happen.During that time, the only sounds heard were the gentle scraps of spoons and bowls against the wooden table. The kitchen air was tranquil, despite the fact that my heart rate was still exceeding normal. I tried drinking more soup, trying to keep my balance. After a second glance, Liam corrected his gaze and whispered, "I thought this taste was only present when you were cooking."
Sienna's POV With ease, I arose from the sofa, attempting to rid myself of the anxiety that still gripped my heart."Have you eaten?" I inquired, my voice being more gentle than usual.Liam shook his coffee cup and placed it on the table. "Not yet. You?" "I muttered, Liam." We both chuckled and acknowledged our absurdity after gazing at each other briefly. Even though we were parents of an adult who had just slept, we still found ourselves in a dilemma over dinner."Earlier this afternoon, I had cooked," my words were finally spoken. "There's still some chicken soup in the fridge." There is not a lot, but it can be heated up.A slight frown came out from Liam. "I've been missing your chicken soup." I halted briefly, trying to calm the whirlwind in my thoughts. The ordinary dinner was so weighty and fragile, resembling the possibility of one wrong decision having devastating consequences. Perhaps the reason is that it had been a long time com
Sienna's POV Seeing Noah, I could sense the simplicity of happiness. No extravagant gatherings, no need for the world to acknowledge him - Noah's laughter is pure joy and I am right beside him. That was more than enough.Time passed quickly. With the evening sun setting, a red-hot sky shone through the window. Eventually, Noah settled down beside me, appearing tired. After reaching for a soft blanket, I put him inside.“Rest for a while, sweetheart. We'll have dinner together when Daddy comes back home.”After looking at me with his round eyes, he nodded gently and then slowly closed his eyes. "Don't leave me alone, Mommy," a few seconds later, I was relieved.I held my breath. My heart was filled with the warmth of those uncomplicated words. I nodded as he drifted off to sleep, and then kissed his forehead."My beloved, I will never go anywhere again." Noah's resting place was the reason for my prolonged sitting on the sofa. The babysitter esc
Sienna's POV Holding Noah's hand, he gasped and gasped. "I want to see it!" “Later, after dinner, okay? At present, get your toys sorted out first with Nanny's assistance.”Noah got up and nodded obediently. "Yes, Mommy!" he said, then ran towards his toy shelf. With a smile on my face, I observed his small back disappearing into the corner of the room, and suddenly there was lingering gratitude, love, guilt, all of it.I gazed at the sky and memories of the past flooded back. The person I was once here with was now tired, lifeless, and engulfed in darkness, with dark eyes. Still, my position in the room was unchanged, but my heart had changed. No longer was I that girl. After coming home, I found myself with wounds that were healing and the courage that came from all my falls.I breathed deeply, and the aroma of my home lingered inside. Noah's laughter in the living room, the kitchenkeeper cries in their footsteps, and peace slowly returns inside me.While
