Chapter 5

Daniel’s p.o.v

Ever since Linda showed up in my life, it became a living hell. I felt disgusted with myself for being married to her. I was betraying the one I truly loved. I should be marrying Rose instead of this ugly duckling. I didn't know why my dad did not choose Rose as my bride but her.

The crying face of Rose when she discovered that I was getting married to another woman, was stuck in my mind. My father left me with no choice other than to tie the knot with this girl.

If I disagreed, he would have transferred all the property to my younger brother's name. To be on the safe side, I asked Linda to say no for this wedding but to my disappointment, she did not and now she was in my house in the name of my wife. She merely destroyed my life and that would cost her a lot.

During the wedding when I glared at her, her eyes were shining enthusiastically with an inner light and her smile only multiplied the softness of her gentle nature through every curve of her cheek.

For a second, I felt completely lost in her chocolate brown eyes. I knew her for a long time. Though I barely talked to her, I believed she was a simple girl with a kind heart, but she was just another gold-digging woman. She had an innocent face with a devil mind. A devil in disguise to be more precise.

In spite of that, I hated to admit it but I had somehow grown used to her within these three and a half months. Even though I mistreated her, and never ate the dinner she cooked for me, she never complained. I never heard her backbiting me to my parents. I acted harshly towards her before because I wanted a way to take out my anger. She behaved as she was told and never at once raised her voice against me. That was one of the things that irritated me to the core.

I wanted her to scream at me. Her silence was giving me the name of a monster which I knew I was. But for some reason, I felt like she was not what I was thinking she was, but my mind was saying otherwise.

Every time I looked at her, I recalled that painful and rainy night. It hurt to see her and remember that day. If I was more careful, she would have been alive. The cries of her family still echoed in my ears. Sleepless nights became my friend till then. I wondered if Linda knew about my nightmares. I did not want any sympathy and neither would I ever reveal my secrets to someone I hated. Linda was far from that.

The buzz of my cellphone horn in on my thoughts. A wave of relaxation hit me when the name of Rose appeared on the caller ID. An unknown smile played on my lips. I met her at a charity award and that was when I fell for her. She had everything I wanted in my partner. A model like body and face, a feisty personality and a loyal heart.

Swiping the green button, I picked up the phone.

"Hello."

I was fully engrossed in the conversation. I made the decision to inform Rose about the presence of Linda in the party. But, I heard a curse from the other side and Rose started to throw a fit. Her anger was fully justified though. Sharing their man was never an option for women. And here, she was bearing the scars of my marriage.

"Rose, you are a grown up adult. You should have an idea why I have to do this. That woman left me with no alternative. I'm just bringing her to the party. That's it. She is not a one year old girl. She can manage by herself. Nothing will be cancelled, everything will be the same as we've planned."

Convincing her was not an easy task, yet I tried my best.

"The woman in my heart and mind is you only."

'Was I lying?'

She replied with an I love you and hung up right after saying she would patiently wait for me at the party.

Just as I turned around. I saw Linda standing at the restroom's entrance, wearing an elegant Red dress. Her face was pale and eyes were shining with water.

'Did she hear me? She was not crying was she?'

I should not care but the urge to hug her suddenly cropped inside of me. Controlling myself, I averted my gaze. I would not console someone who took away my happiness. But that did not stop me from admiring her.

She had a perfect barbie figure. Her waist was tapered. A pair of eyebrows looked down on sweeping eyelashes. Her delicate ears framed a button nose. Her light brown hair was long enough to kiss her waist. Her makeup was not that extravagant which was matching with her pale skin. Her natural pink sweet lips seem lilac soft. She was looking so gorgeous and naive.

The thought of her being this stylish and fashionable never came in my mind. Baggy clothes were always worn by her and for that reason her body was never well scanned.

I was completely lost in her beauty for a while. I forgot about everything, even about Rose. Eyes were definitely going to be out on stalks in that soirée. She looked absolutely gorgeous and to be frank, it was a little frustrating.

I found myself moving towards her.

"You are beautiful." I whispered seductively in her ear and her pale, dull face glowed faintly.

That was when my mind swore at me. I did what I should not have done. I comforted her.

Her eyes met mine and shone with happiness.

"I was just stating a fact. Followed by another one, I hate you to the square of infinity."

I would not lose control another time.
