Ellyse drove to their mansion with a heavy heart. She has had enough of Kai. For years she strived to make their marriage work, she wanted to give Claire the perfect life.

But throughout those 6 whole years, she endured his coldness and indifference. She let him work, she let him do anything he wants as long as he came home to her.

But now, seeing him act like their marriage was nothing but a piece of paper to him broke her heart.

Now she wants to end things with him once and for all.

She parked her car outside of their house and was immediately greeted by their maids and guards. Nerisa also saw her.

“Ma’am! You’re here,” She says enthusiastically. But the moment she saw Ellyse’s tear stained face, she froze.

“Nerisa, please take down all the wedding photos of me and Kai, thankyou,” She managed to stifle a smile and then continued walking upstairs to her bedroom.

There, she took a trash bag and immediately started throwing her and Kai’s framed pictures. There was one picture professionally taken of them, she was sitting while he was standing up.

Then their wedding photo, and then their prenup shoot. It all pained her—throwing physical memories was hard, but she didn’t want to care anymore.

For a while, Ellyse gained a hint of hope after telling Kai about the divorce. She thought he was finally seeing her worth as a wife and a mother, but she was wrong.

Maybe it was all in her head, maybe she was delusional to feel that way. She felt so stupid…she wanted to reset time and do everything differently.

Then, she went to her closet where she had kept all the bouquet of flowers Kai had given her throughout the years. It was the only thing he had done for her and she treasured them so much.

Kai giving her these made her feel like she was someone special to him, like a part of him actually cared about her.

How naive of her to think that way, she thought.

So she threw every single bouquet he had given her during their wedding anniversary, her birthday, valentines and even when she earned achievements.

After that, she went to her drawer to find remaining things that Kai had given her. But instead, she found something else.

A videotape of their wedding.

She took the videotape, taking the cd out before putting it inside of her tv. Then, she played the video. It has been 6 years since she last watched this.

During the beginning of the video, music started playing.

She saw herself slowly being revealed as the door of the church opened. She was wearing her big wedding dress and her veil was in front of her.

[I’ve waited a hundred years, but I’d wait a million more for you]

Then Kai’s reaction was shown. Most men would either be crying or smiling during their weddings but Kai looked emotionless, almost like the person he was getting married to was a total stranger to him.

[Nothing prepared me for, of what privilege of being yours would do]

[If I had only felt the warmth within your touch]

Then the clip of her and Kai exchanging their rings was shown. That brought Ellyse’s attention to the two rings in her ring finger.

The diamond of her engagement ring shined against the light along with their wedding band. She held it firmly, preparing herself to slowly remove the ring from her finger.

[If I had only seen how you smile when you blush]

She finally removed her rings.

And in all honesty, she felt so relieved. Like a weight was lifted from her shoulders. It felt so good to finally remove what’s been holding her back for years.

[Or how you curl your lip when you concentrate enough]

[Well I would’ve known, what I was living for all along]

She watched the two rings in her hand in awe before standing up. She went to Kai’s study, firmly putting both of the rings on his desk before returning to her room.

All the emotions of watching their wedding video back reminded her of the vows she had written beforehand and how excited she felt to recite them in front of Kai.

However, she was told the day of their wedding that Kai did not write any vows and it would be weird if she was the only one with vows.

So she threw it away.

God, she was blindsided. She believed in fairytales and happy endings. She thought that there was a possibility of Kai loving her.

She thought that giving him Claire…that having children would make him love her. And she was so stupid for believing so.

And now, all she wants to do is to bring back time and forget about everything that has transpired between them.

She’d immediately ask Ellyse if she was sad or lonely if she saw even a hint of sadness in her face. She arrived at Claire’s school, her head throbbing quite a bit from all the stress she endured earlier. “Mrs. Laurent!” Claire’s teacher, Ms. Adella greeted her when she stood in front of the door.“Ms. Adella, it’s nice to see you,” They exchanged hugs before Claire came running towards her.“Mommy!” Ellyse giggled at her daughter before holding her head. Claire had chocolate smeared all over her mouth.“Be a good girl, ok Claire?” Ms. Adella said lively.“Of course, Ms. Adella!” Claire said while Ellyse was busy removing the chocolate stains from her daughter’s face with a wet wipe.“Claire what did yo

“Ellyse…thank God you came,” Victoria was busy speaking to George, her husband and Kai’s father. George, like Kai is a very prominent business man in the mining field. He pioneered many inventions and machines used in mining today. He’s like the reason why the Laurent name carries such honor and legacy, something Kai is carrying now.Ellyse saw Victoria lying on the hospital bed with needles and tubes inserted in her arm. She looked sick, her lips were pale and her eye bags were showing. It was almost as if she had aged ten years since she slept at the mansion.“I told you to take care of yourself, Mom!” She immediately ran towards her mother-in-law to embrace her, taking in her familiar scent.Victoria embraced Ellyse back, “I did, Ellyse…I was just really stressed lately,” She explained.“Victoria had been overthinking about you and Kai’s marriage, she thinks you’re going to file for divorce any time soon,” George spoke from besid

As usual, Ellyse wasn’t surprised when she didn’t see Kai in the house. He was always like this, always busy with work. She cooked Claire her favorite spaghetti just what she promised and then headed back to her office as soon as Claire had finished eating. Sine she wanted to leave the company as soon as possibly, she got started on revising the floor plan that Kai had requested earlier. Although she had a lot of things to do, she set those aside to focus on this plate. It was already past 9pm when she finished about 20% of the plate. She yawned from exhaustion, her back was aching and she wanted to lay down on her soft bed.She gathered her things and was already preparing to leave when her phone vibrated from her table.Kai: Claire is asking for you. Ellyse stared at Kai’s message for about a minute before sighing heavily. She didn’t have the strength to type a reply let alone drive to the mansion, so she ignored

Kaya naman, Claire pleaded to Ellyse as soon as she saw her after school.“Mommy, please cook my favorite spaghetti at home, pretty please!” Ellyse’s head was throbbing from her encounter with Kai, and now she had to deal with her sulking daughter.Even during their ride to the mansion, Claire kept begging her to cook spaghetti. “Claire…there’s no pasta at home,” Atleast from what she can recall. It has been two days since she last moved out and normally the maids would do the grocery shopping during the end of the week, it’s only friday so she doubts there’s pasta available at home.“Then can we buy pasta?” Ellyse closed her eyes, trying to calm herself. She had planned to drop off Claire and then g

The next morning, Kai was nowhere to be seen. Ellyse woke up by herself, alone in his bed. It has always been like this whenever they would sleep together, nothing was new to her. Ellyse yawned before standing up to go downstairs. As she descended from the stairs, she heard Claire’s high-pitched voice from the dining area. “And we made stars too, grandma! I painted mine blue, because blue is my favorite color!” She chuckled. Her daughter loved Victoria so much, she always looked forward to her grandmother visiting their house. It was really nice to have Victoria around, her presence makes the house feel less tense and lonely. “Goodmorning, Ellyse,” Victoria stood up to greet Ellyse by planting a kiss on her cheek. “Mommy!” Claire jumped from her seat, hugging her legs. “Goodmorning everyone,” Ellyse greets Victoria and carries Claire to give her a kiss on the cheek.
