Ava’s POV

“You should come to the bed, Doc,” I gave an innocent offer.

“Oh yeah, thanks,” he said.

He sank into the bed as if he’d gone for a tedious job and was exhausted.

“I think you should just spend the night,” I suggested.

“I don’t think that will be possible, Ava. I have to get to the hospital as early as possible tomorrow morning, and you… you’re also going to school, remember?”

“Yeah, but that’s not a barrier. You can set an alarm,” I said, and he jumped to his feet, seeing that his body was gradually giving in to my demands.

“I should take my leave now,” he said, placing a kiss on my forehead. My heart melted.

“Doc, will you come again to spend some more time with me?” I asked with a soft voice.

“Yeah, anytime I am free, I can always come to spend some time with you.”

I smiled. He grabbed his shirt and shoes and put them on. “See you later,” he said at the door, and I waved him goodbye sadly.

Dr. Dane left me wet and horny. Didn’t he feel that I wanted him? Didn’t he know wh

  • Fractured   MY NEW WORK PLACE

Ava’s POV“There’s a small apartment behind the bar where you can sleep after work. But you work full-time. Mondays are off days, you work Tuesdays to Sundays, and work starts at seven in the evening till dawn. All you do is serve our customers and be polite no matter what,” Mr. Rolex said.My face was fixed on the ground. I kept nodding while he spoke.“So you can start work now. When you get out there, ask for Mary. She will show you the apartment where you will be staying with the others,” he said, and I shook my head, showing that I understood everything he said.My salary was small, but I was ready to start afresh, to leave the shadows that were haunting me and face my life.Education does not determine success. I could still be successful even if I did not go to Elitis High.I walked out of his office to meet two ladies in jean bum shorts and crop tops. They didn’t wear bras and their nipples were pointed like pebbles. I didn’t think they were on duty; perhaps today was their da

  • Fractured   I’M SORRY AVA, I HAVE NO CHOICE.

Bryan’s POVI looked everywhere for Ava, but she was nowhere to be found. I called her phone, and it was switched off. I immediately knew that something was going on with her that she didn’t want to tell me. I knew that she must have gone home alone. I picked up my school bag as I headed out. I didn’t go home; I went to Ava’s house, and she wasn’t there. I called her line again, but it was still switched off.I became worried. “I hope she won’t try to hurt herself.” I sat on a pavement, still in my uniform, and a lot was running through my mind that I could barely figure out what to do next. Then I started to regret why I didn’t have Dr. Dane’s number. “Could she be there?” I thought for a second. “I should go and see for myself.”When another taxi drove past, I waved at the driver, and he pulled over in front of me. “Brook Way, please,” I said as I headed back home to change and set out for the hospital where Dr. Dane works. On getting to the hospital, I was told he was attending to

  • Fractured   I’M TIRED

Ava’s POVA loud clap that left Steve in shock echoed through the quiet street.“What a nice way to have a quickie!” Liana’s voice lingered in the air.I pushed Steve away as I grabbed my panties and pulled my skirt down to cover my round ass.“Liana,” I said flatly, staring at her, refusing to give her the satisfaction of seeing me break. She smirked, her eyes glinting with malice. “Oh, Ava, you’re quicker than I thought. No wonder Chris got bored. Always sneaking around, pretending to be little Miss Innocent, but here you are. Tell me, was the tree good enough for you?”Before I could respond, Steve stepped forward, his tone sharp. “Shut your filthy mouth, Liana. You think you’re better than her? Let me tell you something—you’re not even in the same league. I prefer Ava a thousand times over you. You will never have a taste of my manhood. You’ll only watch your closest friends taste it, but you will never!”Her smirk faltered as anger flashed in her eyes. “What did you just say to m

  • Fractured   EXECUTING THE PLAN

Ava’s POVIn school, I followed Tessa anywhere she went, but I stayed far away. Bryan and Sophie were handling the rest. She walked down Makimama Way, and I followed secretly behind her. She entered the strange hall there, and after some minutes, she came out with just her school bag that she had taken in there. I let her go; I didn’t follow behind her. I kept watching, my instincts telling me it wasn’t over. After five minutes, Chris stepped out, his school bag hanging on one hand. Surprise flickered in my eyes. “I knew it! They’ve been pretending to be beefing with each other all this time, and yet they were dating secretly, planning something more deadly.”I grabbed my phone and texted Bryan on WhatsApp. “I’ve caught them. Tessa and Chris are secretly dating.”He dropped an emoji showing he was baffled. “I can’t believe this!” the message dropped, and I read. Then someone tapped my shoulder from behind, and my mind flew. I turned to see Steve behind me.“What are you doing here?” h

  • Fractured   AT THE CINEMA

Ava’s POV“I’ve been wanting to ask about your parents, family, siblings, relatives, or someone close to your family,” he said, and my chest dropped. I must have taken this too far. Dr. Dane wasn’t obsessed with me like I was with him. But I can’t be in love with him; he’s only just trying to help me, that’s all.I cleared my throat, a small smile lifting my chin. I responded, “My family is good,” I said, utterly disorganized, though I tried to hide it.“Why do you ask? Because of the apartment?” I let my lips say.“Did I trigger something?” he asked calmly. Perhaps Dr. Dane noticed how nervous I was. “I mean, are you okay? Do you want us to change the topic?” he asked, but before I could reply, he continued. “Ava, I brought you out here to make you happy and not to bring back old memories. I just wanted us to have fun and so you could feel relieved of the stress of school.”“Yeah, I am fine,” I said, forcing a smile. “But I’d prefer we talk about this some other time.”He nodded with
