from love to hate

CHAPTER 5

FROM LOVE TO HATE

Rebekah scrambled up to her feet quickly, wasting no time and not wanting to anger Lucien's Mum more than she already is. She rushed down the stairs and almost tripped but was able to stabilize herself before she could fall. Rebekah had become some kind of laughing stock and talk of the pack. Some people may not know everything that's going on right now here in their home but she knew with time that things might get work and she had to find a way. She would always pray to the Moon Goddess to help her, she had gone through a lot to get to where she was right now and she just could not lose this opportunity and she could not lose Lucien now that she has already fallen in love with him. Even with the way he treated her, the love she had for him helped her to take it all in and hope for the better because she still had faith that he loved her just as much. Rebekah composed herself as she saw other of the maids doing their job. It was embarrassing and painful that she was partially one of them as she also did some work. She was treated like a maid, most especially by Lucien's mother.

She could feel the eyes on her, just like every other time when she would work quietly. She knew that they heard, she knew and she felt disgraced and she also knew there was nothing she could do about it or them. Their eyes were judging her, saying things, some filled with hate and disappointment, others she could not read but she had not yet found someone who would at least support her. She was running out of options here and right now, she could not see anyone standing by her side. It was that bad.

"Here, Madam Charlotte asked that you wipe the tables", one of the maids dropped the cleaning items for her or more like threw them at her and walked away.

"Deep breaths, relax, don't do anything stupid. Let it go, she is not worth it", Rebekah spoke to herself, trying to get her sanity back on. Most of them will just test you and find a way to push you until you do something you don't want to do but right now was not a time for this, so she ignored the girl. Rebekah picked up the cleaning items and first went to the sitting room, where she wiped the table, making sure it was spotless. She cleaned it very well to avoid Lucien's mother from finding something she could use to scold her. The woman could look for the littlest thing, just so she could taunt and belittle her.

Rebekah saw Lucien as he passed. Seems like he was heading out already. But she did not see him have breakfast and her love instincts spiked up. She wanted to stop herself but found herself dropping the cleaning item she was using to wipe the table and rushing out to him.

"Alpha", she called out to him as she stopped in his front before he could reach the door.

"What do you think your doing?", He questioned with a raised brow as he stopped and looked at her.

"I was not sure if you had anything to eat and if you have not, I can make something quickly so you don't have to go to your meeting on an empty stomach", Rebekah said softly with a smile, cleaning her hands on her clothing.

Lucien stared at her for some time and then he walked up to her, their eyes meeting each other and he went around her and walked out the door.

Rebekah sighed and muttered to herself, "I guess that's a no".

Meanwhile, Lucien stepped out and entered his ride that was waiting for him outside. He wondered how she was still able to smile when she has made his life miserable. Nothing was worth smiling about, especially with her.

"You know where to go too", he said to his driver as the car started and moved.

"If only she could have done one thing well and all this won't have happened..but she just had to ruin everything for them", Lucien thought, "well she's the least of my worries right now, I have better things to sort out".

Back in the house, Rebekah spotted some of the workers looking at her. Seemed like they had enjoyed the little show between her and Lucien. She ignored them and went back to her work. After the sitting room, she went over to the dining table and worked on it, cleaning it well. Sometimes she would wipe some sweat off her face and get back to cleaning.

"REBEKAH!", Rebekah heard the loud call of her name from the voice that no other belonged to Madam Charlotte, Lucien's mother.

"What have I done wrong now?", Rebekah asked herself as she turned to find Charlotte staring at her.

"Ma?". Rebekah's voice was so soft and calm.

"I know there are a series of things wrong with you but can't you do something for once, what's wrong with you?? Huh?? A simple task you can't do", Charlotte shouted, not minding if anyone was listening or watching.

Rebekah shook a bit at the shout, trying to recall what she had forgotten, "I'm sorry Ma, I have done all the tasks needed, I'm not sure which".

Charlotte closed her eyes, taking a long ass breath. Rebekah's heart kept beating quickly as she gulped.

"The laundry basket, what are clothes doing Inside the dirty laundry basket Rebekah", Charlotte asked still with her eyes closed, "what are they still doing there?".

"Shit shit shit", Rebekah muttered under her breath.

"What did you say?", Charlotte asked her, "did you just talk back to me?".

"No Ma, you asked a question and I was just about to answer", Rebekah replied, trying to save herself.

"But I do not hear any answers", Charlotte said, looking angry as she opened her eyes.

But before Rebekah could speak, someone spoke up for her, "Actually it was my fault, Madam Charlotte".
