“She won’t say anything,” Ethan told him. “You don’t love her. You’re only jealous because you saw her with me.”

Lucien moved a little closer, his gaze fixed only on me.

“Yes..." he nodded. "...maybe I had to see you with another man to realize what I lost.”

“Ethan, please...let’s go,” I whispered.

Ethan looked down at me before lifting his eyes back to Lucien.

Lucien’s face slackened, and I quickly looked away.

It hurts. I don’t even know why it hurts this much… but I refuse to let

Aria’s POV “Aria, please open up.” Ethan’s voice came again, softer this time, almost breaking at the edges as it filtered through the bathroom door, but I didn’t respond. The words felt distant, like they were coming from another world entirely, a world I was no longer sure I belonged to. I sat curled inside the bathtub, my knees drawn close to my chest, my fingers loosely wrapped around them, holding myself together was the only thing keeping me from falling apart completely. My gaze was fixed on nothing in particular, just the blank stretch of tiled wall in front of me. My mind was elsewhere, scattered, overwhelmed, drowning in thoughts I couldn’t organize no matter how hard I tried. Everything inside me felt heavy, like I had been dropped into a life I didn’t recognize, forced to breathe in truths I wasn’t ready to accept. Everything happened in one night. One single night, and my entire existence had been flipped upside down so ruthlessly that I still couldn’t tell which p

Devi’s knees hit the floor with a dull thud. The sound echoed faintly in the quiet apartment. She was too weak to feel anything. Her body leaned forward slowly, almost collapsing, as her trembling fingers reached out to the frame in front of her. Ethan’s smile stared back at her. Her fingers traced the edge of the glass, dragging downward slowly and lovingly. “I watched you…” her voice came out in a whisper, fragile but laced with something darker beneath. “I watched you love her…” Her lips trembled. Her breathing grew uneven. “I watched you kiss her…” she continued, her grip tightening against the frame. “I watched you choose her…” “I WATCHED YOU LOVE THAT BITCH!” she screamed, the sudden outburst tearing through the silence like a blade. Tears rolled uncontrollably down her cheeks now, her shoulders shaking, her hand slammed against the frame, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she clutched it to herself possessively. “I’ve always loved you…” she cried, her voice dripp

Aria’s lips parted slowly, but no sound came out at first. The room felt too small for her to breathe, she felt like the walls were closing in on her, squeezing the air out of her lungs as her eyes moved from Ethan to Mr. Morris to Elena. Confusion flickered across her face. “What is she saying?” she asked, her voice barely audible. No one answered her. Ethan inhaled slowly, his jaw tightening like he was bracing himself for impact. Then, without a word, he reached into his jacket and pulled out an envelope, placed it on her palm. Aria didn’t move. “Aria…” He called her softly. “Just look at it." For a second, she just stared at it. Then her trembling fingers reached out to him. Like even touching it might shatter whatever fragile reality she was still holding onto. She took it behind her, Elena’s fingers curled tightly into a fist, her nails digging into her palm as her jaw clenched. “Father,” Elena called sharply, her voice full of irritation. Mr. Morris didn’t look

“ Answer me, Is it until I plant my baby inside you before you finally believe that I love you?” he said, his voice low, almost rough with frustration. Aria’s breath hitched. Her heart didn’t just skip, it lurched painfully, his words had reached the depth of her heart. “You...you have no idea how scared I am to lose you,” she whispered, her voice trembling despite her effort to steady it. Her fingers curled slightly against his shirt, like she needed something to hold onto. “Do you even know what it felt like there? Not knowing if I’d see you again...not knowing if you were still mine...” Ethan’s expression broke completely. His hand came up slowly, cupping her cheek like she was something fragile, something he had almost lost. “I was losing my mind,” he admitted quietly, his thumb brushing under her eye. “Every second you weren’t with me...every second I couldn’t hear your voice...couldn’t touch you...couldn’t look into your eyes…” He let out a shaky breath. “It felt like s

They stepped out of the station together, the tension trailing them like a shadow that refused to loosen its grip. Ethan’s hand wrapped tightly around Aria’s own, his grip firm, almost possessive, like if he let go for even a second, she would disappear again. His thumb brushed against her knuckles unconsciously, a silent reassurance more for himself than for her. Behind them, Devi walked with a calm posture, her jaw clenched so tightly it looked like it might snap. The fire in her eyes hadn’t dimmed one bit since the scene inside, instead, it burned brighter now. Mr. Sharma, a few steps away, kept glancing at her, his expression unreadable, part concern, part calculation, part something else no one could quite place. When they finally reached Ethan’s car, he let go of Aria’s hand only long enough to rush ahead and open the passenger door for her. “Get in my love,” he murmured softly. Aria didn’t argue. She slid into the seat, exhaustion written all over her face, her movements

“Please, just drop the gun,” Ethan said, his voice low. “We’ve already got what we came for. Let’s leave. There’s no need to escalate this any further.” But Devi didn’t move. Her arm remained extended, unwavering, the pistol still aimed directly at the officer. Her eyes were sharp, blazing with restrained fury and her gaze never left his face, as though she could see through him, strip away every lie he had tried to hide behind procedure and authority. “You think this is over?” she said coldly, her voice filled with disbelief. “You think I’m just going to walk away after everything he’s done? After the way they dragged her in here like she’s some criminal?” “Devi,” Ethan tried again, a little more force behind his tone this time. “We’ll deal with that. Not like this.” “Not like this? What's going on with you?” she echoed, her lips curling slightly. “Then how, Ethan? By sitting in this stupid man's office and having polite conversations while they forge evidence and manipulat

Ethan’s POV “I… loved you, Lucien.” she murmured again, her voice was barely audible. I didn’t react, I just stared at her, the way her lips trembled when she said his name, how her fingers clenched weakly into the fabric of my shirt, as if she needed something solid to hold her together, the w

Ethan’s POV I watched her cry for her ex-husband, and it didn’t ignite jealousy in me the way people assume it should. It didn’t make my chest burn with insecurity or anger. All I felt was an overwhelming need to take her pain away. Because why not? when she cried like someone who had held herse

Aria’s POV The drive home was wrapped in silence, the silence pressed against my chest until breathing felt a bit uncomfortable. Ethan didn’t turn on the radio. He didn’t try to fill the space with words like he used to anytime I'm sad, that wouldn’t matter anyway. And I was grateful for that. I

*Ethan’s POV* I don’t know what the hell I’m supposed to do, but should I just stand here like a decent man and let another man who's her past, tear into her in front of everyone? Or defend the woman whose trembling fingers are laced through mine like I’m the only thing keeping her upright? Beca
